Chapter 1: Blue

Chapter Text

Blue was not a color Magna enjoyed. It was the same color as his bruises and the invasive flowers that grew near home, and even the vast blue sky was always hidden by grey clouds that hung perpetually. It wasn’t an interesting color, but the first time Magna noticed the bright, so very clear blue sky was when he joined the Black Bulls. He had taken a deep breath with shaking hands, and looked at the beautiful blue through the cracks in his glasses. Captain Yami told him to quit staring at nothing and pushed him into one of Finral's portals.

He hid his eyes behind purple-tinted glasses and a sneer, but there was later a blue he couldn't ignore–and he tried. He tried, but it never left him alone, and later, he stopped trying.

Blue was now a color of a baggy blue tunic, paired with electric blue eyes that always looked at Magna from just a few steps ahead, waiting for him to catch up as his sunglasses fell to the dirt from the stinging shock of lightning. It was a blue that he could no longer ignore because of the frequency, because his purple-tinted world fell apart around him and the walls he built so high crumbled merely at the sight. It was that of Luck Voltia’s type of blue, one that started out as an annoyingly vibrant cyan and turned into something that rivaled the beauty of the sky on the day they'd met.

All too soon, the blue that Magna saw was Luck and Luck only. He'd dreamt of it. Magna saw those eyes look directly into his with messy blond locks sticking to his forehead from sweat and flushed cheeks, and that was when he fell so fast and hard that he began to yearn for the blue at his side, albeit not openly.

It was months later that he woke up with those blue eyes looking back at him with all the love in the world–love as vast as the ocean and sky, all expressed through charming blue irises. When that happened, Magna would pull Luck in for a kiss and smile against the other’s lips.

Eventually, it was safe to say that blue was a color that Magna adored.
