When Finn and Jake walked into the lab, they found Peppermint Butler with a broom and a scowl, muttering to himself. He looked furious and he was cleaning up a big pile of broken glass and chemical stains from the floor.
“Hey, Peps,” Finn greeted cheerfully. “PBrubs called us down here for some science experiment. Where she at?”
The mint’s tiny nostrils flared in annoyance. “I'm sorry, boys, but that will have to be put on a rain check. Her majesty is no longer available this evening.”
“What? But she just called us like twenty minutes ago? What happened?”
He sighed. With nothing but irritation in his voice, he said, “She got kidnapped.”
Finn slammed his fist into his palm. “Ice King! Don't worry, we'll save her.”
“It wasn't the Ice King,” Peppermint replied with a tightening of his lips.
“What?! That's way worse! Who kidnapped the princess?”
He only hesitated for a heartbeat. “Lady Abadeer,” he spat the name with venom.
“Oh. Well, that's cool. I mean, we could go hang out with them and do science when we're done.”
Jake started laughing and wrapped his arm around Finn's torso. “Nah, bro bro, we shouldn't bother them. Let's go beat up Donny instead.”
The hero gave his brother a puzzled look. “Why though? We're all friends, don't you think they'd be happy to see us?”
“Not this time, little man. They're having special girly alone time. No boys allowed!”
“How would you know that?”
“Call it instincts! C'mon, we've got better things to do than worry about those two!” He dragged his brother from the lab.
