Chapter Text
Jay realized that everything had shifted in the past day. Daisy was gone, Tom was pissed that he supposedly killed his mistress, and he had no clue if Nick was going to stick around even if his cousin wasn’t involved.
The more Gatsby thought about his neighbor, he realized the gravity of the situation he’d caused. He thought back to what Nick said about how you can never truly relive the past. It just took him too long to understand it.
He’d feared that Nick would be outraged with him for what he caused. Daisy could hate her own cousin because of this. All because he’d decided to make a stupid decision.
Nick had been his closest friend through all of this. He’d always felt more connected to his neighbor than the girl he was supposed to be in love with. However, he did love Daisy.
But maybe there was more going on around him than he’d originally realized. He just had to pray Nick didn’t want to kill him like almost everyone else did.

Nick hadn’t seen Jay for over 3 days. Since the fight at the Plaza, it’s like he’d disappeared. Nick could tell he was still inside the house, as he’d seen doors and windows moving, along with lights. This calmed his nerves a little bit further.
But he figured he’d call Jordan just to be safe. After dialing her address in, the phone barely rang before she answered. “You answered so quickly you didn’t give me time to think about it.” He could hear Jordan chuckle.
“Hello Nick.” Jordan spoke sweetly. “What's going on?” Nick sighed, nervously. “I’m nervous about Gatsby. I’ve seen movement in his house, but I haven’t actually seen him since the fight.” Nick explained, glancing out the window towards his mansion.
Jordan sighed. “Miss him already? Couldn’t you just… go knock?” Nick could hear her eyes roll. “My cousin just told him ‘hey I’m sorry, I am not leaving my husband for you!’. I don’t need him getting mad at me!” Nick exclaimed.
“As much as I want to laugh at you, I don’t blame you.” Jordan admitted. “But, he’s your friend. You should probably just go talk to him.”
“If I disappear, this is on you.”
“Love you too Nick.”
