Sunghoon moved through the crowd, hesitating, clearly about to say something—finally—but Sunoo had nothing left to give him.
When they stood face to face, all Sunoo could do was smile, empty and sad. His voice was quiet, so only the two of them could hear.
"Good luck, babe," he said. His throat was tight, but the words came out steady enough. "You’ll need it if you think I’m going to wait forever."
And then he walked away, because if he stayed another second, he’d cry.
