Tsukasa closes his office for the night and walks away with an unusual bounce in his step, heading towards the castle's east wing.
He approaches the heavy doors at the end of the long hallway and knocks a few times, waiting for a response. He gets one; a soft hum, barely audible, and then opens the door and enters the sorcerer's lab.
The knight finds Rui, the royal sorcerer and his fiancé, sitting at his desk, rubbing his eye. His hair was disheveled, and he appeared to have just woken up.
"Don't tell me that you fell asleep while working on something again?" He asks in lieu of a greeting, walking over and leaning against the desk.
Rui smiles a little, his hand dropping to his lap. "Mm.. Perhaps I did? I wasn't out for very long, though. Just a little power nap."
"Were you up late last night working on something?" Tsukasa asks, reaching over to gently cradle the sorcerer's face in his hands. He looks at him from the closer proximity, observing how he still seemed tired, though he didn't seem to have terribly prominent eyebags for once.
Rui shakes his head, leaning into the touch and closing his eyes. "No, I wasn't up that late, but I did wake up a tad earlier than I wanted to and couldn't go back to sleep at the time."
Tsukasa hums in understanding, still not letting go of his fiancé's face. "Well, if you're not working on anything now, I've got a suggestion, if you'll hear me out."
"I'd always listen to my knight," Rui answers happily, blinking slowly and seeming to melt into Tsukasa's touch even more, causing him to blush.
Tsukasa clears his throat before continuing. "So, I was told I have the day off from patrols tomorrow! And I was wondering if you would want to spend the evening with me since we haven't done that in a while!"
The sorcerer hums, nodding a little. "Yes, I would be delighted to. Did you have anything in mind already? If not, I'm sure we can come up with some ideas of how to spend the time."
"Admittedly, I didn't think that far ahead," Tsukasa answers, smiling sheepishly. He grabs Rui's left hand and holds it in his own, fidgeting with his engagement ring. Rui's free arm snakes around the knight's waist, pulling him closer and into his lap.
"Well, we could always go for a walk?" Rui suggests, his gaze drifting around the room as he ponders. "Or we could stay in one of our rooms? Or we could spar? We haven't done that in a while."
The knight smiles a little. "Well, I was intending to have a nice evening to wind down, so a walk does sound nice. I came back from patrol a little bit ago and the weather was ideal."
Rui nods. "Where should we go? The village?"
"Sounds good to me," Tsukasa agrees, leaning in to give his fiancé a peck on the lips. Before he fully pulls away, Rui tugs him back for another kiss, then lets him go.
He helps Rui tidy up his lab a little, then they head out. A few of the castle's staff give them small waves of acknowledgment as they pass.
Once outside the castle, the sorcerer notices that the knight seems a little more relaxed, and so he takes the initiative to hold his hand as they walked, lightly swinging their arms back and forth.
"Is there anywhere specific you want to go? Or are we just walking?" Tsukasa asks, turning to his fiancé and squeezing his hand.
The sorcerer hums for a moment, his walking pace slowing. "I suppose there is one place I'd like to go to, but I'm not really shopping for anything specific."
Tsukasa nods, squeezing Rui's hand. "Lead the way, darling."
To no one's surprise, Rui brings them to the shop he usually bought potion and spell ingredients from. Tsukasa merely lets himself be dragged around as Rui examines everything on the shelves. He himself knew very little about magic, his only knowledge being from the few times Rui had explained some basic spells to him.
Rui ends up buying a few small jars of various dried flowers, while Tsukasa had picked up a small vial of wild lavender oil on a whim and purchased it. Now, they had returned to wandering through the village.
Nothing else had really caught either's attention, so after meandering about for a while, Rui had noticed that Tsukasa had begun walking a bit slower. He figured that the day's exhaustion was beginning to catch up to him; being a knight was a very physically demanding job.
"We should go back soon, it's getting dark," the sorcerer says quietly, leaning closer to his fiancé. Tsukasa nods in agreement, lightly tugging on his arm. They walk in silence all the way back to the castle, but then Tsukasa speaks up again once they reach the front gates.
"Would you like to stay with me tonight?" He asks, letting go of Rui's hand and instead resting his hand on the sorcerer's lower back.
Rui feels his cheeks flush slightly at the new contact, but he nods, replying; "yes, that sounds lovely. We've not had much opportunity to just spend time together lately."
And so, with that decided, Tsukasa then leads the way back to his bedchambers, with Rui following close behind.

Upon arrival, Tsukasa decides the first thing they could do was wash up, so he tells Rui to make himself comfortable, while he heads into the bathroom. He can hear the sorcerer shuffling about in the room, most likely finding a change of clothing for afterwards; he stayed with Tsukasa often enough, that he left a few of his outfits in the room on purpose just so he'd have them when needed on occasions such as this.
Tsukasa focuses on filling the bath with water at a perfect comfortable temperature, then he adds some of the lavender oil he'd just bought to the water as well. Rui had entered the room by then, idly standing off to the side, fidgeting with his hands until Tsukasa straightens up again.
"It should be ready now," the knight says quietly, already beginning to undress himself. The sorcerer bashfully turns the other way and does the same. They have their backs turned to each other as they undress, but they have to face each other again immediately after, in order to arrange how they would sit in the bath.
Rui is unable to stop himself as his gaze unconsciously drifts down toward the knight's chest, which does not go unnoticed.
"See something you like?" Tsukasa asks with an amused snort, though a light embarrassed flush had appeared on his cheeks.
Rui finds that he really is too tired to come up with a serious reply, so instead, he just opts to mumble; "yeah, boobs. Wow.."
Tsukasa yelps, then throws a washcloth at the sorcerer's face before submerging himself in the water. As much as the reply had caught him off guard, he tries and ultimately fails to hide his own amused smile.
It made him happy that they could simply exist like this; no upcoming assignments or missions. They could relax and act stupid, and he would enjoy it for as long as they could.
He is snapped out of his thoughts when Rui slips into the bath in front of him, and he gets to work on washing the sorcerer's hair, a small smile on his face as he feels him almost melting into the touch.
Once he had thoroughly massaged shampoo into Rui's hair, Tsukasa grabs the soap and begins washing Rui's back, gently kneading at the tight muscles he had due to his awful posture.
The next step was rinsing his hair.. Tsukasa did not have a small container to pour water from anywhere nearby at the moment, so he opts to cup his hands and rise like that. However, this method quickly proves itself to not be very efficient.
The knight thinks for a moment before scooting himself all the way backwards, against the edge of the tub. Rui turns his head to see why Tsukasa was no longer pressed against him, only to be directed to lean back so that his hair was in the water..
Rui is tired and has no shame, so at first, he jokingly leans back and rests his head on Tsukasa's bare chest. This earns him a teasing poke in the side, and Rui fixes his position, after grumbling in complaint a few times.
Tsukasa finally deems Rui's hair thoroughly rinsed, and then they turn around so that Rui can do the same routine that had just been done for him, to the knight. Tsukasa's hair was shorter, so there were less complications when it cane to rinsing his.
They finish bathing and Tsukasa drains the water, then they step out to dry off and get dressed. Tsukasa grabs another smaller dry towel and a hairbrush, leading Rui into the bedroom again. They situate themselves, Tsukasa kneeling behind Rui on the bed, and he gets to work with drying and brushing the sorcerer's hair.
Rui finds a few times that he begins falling asleep during the process, Tsukasa's ministrations relaxing him a little. He does manage to stay mostly awake in the end, though.
The knight gets up to put the hair supplies back, then rejoins Rui on his bed again, this time lying down. The sorcerer curls up at his side, his head resting on Tsukasa's shoulder as his eyes flutter closed.
Tsukasa turns his head to the side, quietly admiring the sorcerer. Kamishiro Rui, the royal sorcerer, his fiancé.. Tsukasa leans in to kiss him.
The kiss is meant to be a quick one, though that ends up not being the case, as the knight rolls on top of the sorcerer, straddling his waist, their chests pressed together. The kiss becomes messy, and lasts for a while; until they finally separate to breathe.
While catching his breath, Tsukasa admires his fiancé for the nth time that night; his hair splayed over the pillow beneath his head, his face flushed, his pupils blown wide, his lips slightly swollen from their kiss.. He leans down and captures Rui's lips again in another kiss, eliciting a shocked gasp as he occasionally nibbles on his lower lip.
The next time the knight pulls away, he doesn't just stop to breathe, instead beginning to press kisses all over Rui's face, then traveling to his jaw, then down to his neck, then his collarbones.
Rui feels overwhelmed, but not in an unpleasant way. He squirms under Tsukasa's incessant kissing, the feeling growing ticklish as he travelled. When Tsukasa finally sits up again to look into his eyes, the sorcerer fears that he might melt on the spot. His poor heart couldn't handle how fond Tsukasa looked when he gazed at him.
The knight decides to lean down for one more chaste kiss, deciding that they should both get their rest now, after such a long day. He could kiss Rui more in the morning, as neither of them had any urgent work matters to answer to.
"I love you," Tsukasa whispers against Rui's lips, selfishly stealing one last kiss from him before rolling off and settling beside him again.
They both shift around, situating themselves under the blankets before falling asleep in each other's arms.
