He couldn’t remember what the nightmare was about, just flashes of rain and blood. Isaac woke up shaking, feeling a phantom chill in his bones.
He startled when the door slid open. Derek crept inside and sat on the bed beside him.
“You okay?” His voice was barely above a whisper.
Isaac nodded into his leg. “Fine. Sorry I woke you.”
“Want me to go?”
“No. Don’t leave. Please.”
Derek was warm when he slid under the covers beside him. He wrapped an arm around Isaac’s waist, nose in his curls.
“I’ve got you. Go to sleep.”
So Isaac did.
