“You’re in my sun,” Lydia said.
“Good,” Malia replied. “Come play volleyball with us.”
Lydia looked over her sunglasses to where the others were gathered around a net further down the beach. “I’d rather not.”
“Loser.” Malia plopped down next to her girlfriend. “You’re so boring.”
“I’m sunbathing,” Lydia brushed away the sand she kicked onto her towel. “If you’re going to keep making a nuisance of yourself, the least you can do is be useful and help me put on more sunscreen.”
Malia picked up the bottle with a grin and kissed her cheek impishly. “Roll over then, princess.”
