Kill it, Please!!

Summary:

Sunday is scared of a bug, you comfort him.

Work Text:

Seeing Sunday stumble through the door with fear in his eyes— your gut twists uncomfortably at the sight of him dropping down to his knees and burying his face in your thighs. His entire body trembled and his wings covered his eyes

"Is there danger? What's wrong, dearest?" You asked softly but carefully as to not already startle the poor angel further.

"T-that!!" He yelped, pointing at a vague direction at the entrance of the chambers. Your eyes trail over, ready to pull out your weapon to defend him from whatever threat was at the door.

Upon seeing a Giant water bug. Relief washes over you, followed by disbelief.

Silence.

Your brain stutters to process that Sunday, THE Sunday is afraid of a big, ugly bug.

"Really, Sunday? Really?" You deadpan. He flinches when you use his real name in place of the usual nicknames. His face burnt with humiliation. If he had puppy ears, they'd definitely be drooping in shame right now.

Still, his eyes flicker anxiously at the terror that's slowly walking closer. You sigh.

"You're an Emissary of Remembrance, chosen by Fuli herself—and you're scared of a giant water bug? You've traversed dreams, defied oblivion, and faced the Trailblazer. What is a Giant Water Bug going to do to you that the Trailblazer hasn't?"

You move strands of his hair gently out of his eyes as he looks up at you with shimmering eyes and wobbly lips, silently begging for your help.

. . . .

"Pathetic." You grumbled out, lifting his chin off of your thighs and making your way over to the bug and proceeding to crush it's little body with the tip of your sword.

When you pulled it out, you grimanced at the sight of beetle blood on your beloved sword, but looking over at him and seeing his fear stricken face subside, you think, it's quite worth it.

He gathers himself and makes his way over to you, peering over your shoulder to examine if the bug was really dead or it was somehow playing dead while using you as some sort of shield to distance himself from the "danger"

The sheer absurdity of the situation hits you like a truck and you laugh heartily. You were definitely going to use this to blackmail him in the future if deemed necessary.

You ruffle his hair, closing your eyes. "Silly boy." You mutter. He melts against you, burying his face in the crook of your neck and snaking arms to wrap around your waist as a silent thank you.

Silly boy. Your silly boy.
