“Look, Kiramman,” she walked up to her to close the gap between them. “Just because you heard a few embarrassing stories about me tonight, and shared some laughs at my expense, doesn’t mean you know shit about me. ”
Her sapphire eyes deepened into Vi’s. “I know that you have a good heart, Violet.”
Vi quickly sobered up and reinforced her armor. “Jesus Christ, Cait! Just stop! I’m not some fuckin project for you can tinker around with to match your theories!”
Cait’s features softened, and Vi realized that she had shortened her name. It wasn’t something she meant to do. Just slipped out. But Cait stayed in the same posture and never took her eyes off hers. The same sensation from this morning vibrated down Vi’s spine. Her fists tightened into a ball, and Cait caught the small flex that traveled up her biceps.
“You’re right, Vi.” Cait said with a gentler voice and even hinting at how Vi perceived her.
“You’re a person,” Cait factually stated.
Vi froze and the air surrounding them slightly shifted.
