Dino rifled through his bags, he could swear he had brought his purple hoodie, the one he really liked. Dino had been planning on wearing said hoodie to the paddock today. It was going to be cold and Dino really liked that sweater. It was cosy and warm, but not too warm.
He sighed defeated. He couldn’t find it, he must have forgotten to bring it. He pulled on a Ferrari hoodie, and left.
Dino forgot about his hoodie until he saw his boyfriend. Luke was talking to a team member, and he was wearing a very familiar sweater.
Dino pulled a face, and Arvid who was just arriving stared at him. “Dino, you good mate?” He asked, walking over and placing a hand on Dino’s shoulder.
Dino let out an exasperated sigh. “Ya, I’m fine. Luke stole the sweater I was going to wear. I don’t even know when he could have taken it.” Dino said, throwing his hands up in defeat. “We didn’t see each other last night.”
Arvid shrugged at Dino, “Maybe Luke stole it a while ago.”
Dino shook his head, “No, I packed it, I remember packing it, and he hasn't been in my room since we got here.”
Arvid shrugged again. “Whatever mate, it’s not like he’s breaking into your room.”
“He better not be.” Dino grumbled. “If he wanted my sweater, he could have just asked me, I would have given it to him.”
“Whatever mate.” Arvid said again, patting Dino on the shoulder and walking away. Dino considered Luke in his sweater again. It was a bit too big, hanging too long on his boyfriend who was four centimeters shorter than him. It did look good, but still Dino couldn't get over how the hell Luke had gotten the sweater.
Dino meant to ask Luke about it, but it slipped his mind, and the sweaters reappearance in Dino’s closet, left him forgetting it was stolen in the first place.
That was until one of his shirts went missing. A Ferrari shirt too.
Dino needed that shirt, and was currently tearing apart his room to find it. He had a Ferrari Drivers Academy event with Charles fucking Leclerc, his racing hero, and Lewis Hamilton, the literal goat of F1.
The only shirt he could find was a plain white one. His Ferrari shit was missing. Dino sat back, and stared at his suitcase. He had no idea where the shirt could have possibly gone. It was too hot to be wearing the Ferrari hoodie he had brought just in case it got cold, but Dino needed something Ferrari branded, so he mournfully pulled on the hoodie, and rolled up his sleeves.
The first thing Lewis said to him when he entered was, “don’t you think it’s a little hot for a hoodie?” Dino frowned.
“My Ferrari T-shirt that I was going to wear was missing this morning, and I didn’t bring anything else.” He let out a frustrated sigh. “I have no idea where it could be.” Dino rubbed his face, and tried to hide his clear frustration from Lewis and Charles.
“You got a girlfriend who could have stolen it?” Charles teased, and Dino’s head shot up. He remembered walking into the paddock, mourning the loss of his warm purple sweater, so much more comfortable than the Ferrari one he had been forced to wear, due to the loss of said sweater. Then there, his boyfriend standing there, wearing the hoodie he had been looking for.
Dino pulled out his phone and called Luke.
It only took a few rings for Luke to pick up, “Hello, Dino don’t you have a thing right now?” he asked sleepily. Clearly Luke had just woken up, likely sleeping in the Ferrari shirt he had definitely stolen from Dino. Dino couldn't fathom why you would want to sleep in that shirt. It was athletic wear, and in Dino’s opinion, not a good sleep shirt.
“You stole my Ferrari T-shirt, the one I was going to wear.” He didn’t ask, his boyfriend had stolen once, therefore he would steal again. Lewis and Charles stared at him, clearly confused.
“What?” Luke groned, and Dino could hear his bones cracking as he stretched.
“What shirt are you wearing right now?” Dino asked, empty anger threading into his voice.
“Oh, Dino, you're at work.” Dino sighed at Luke’s teasing tone.
“Luke.” Dino turned away from Lewis and Charles, afraid of their reaction to finding out that not only did Dino have a boyfriend, but his boyfriend was his teammate.
“Uh, your… Ferrari… shirt.” Luke got more hesitant as he went on. Dino hung up on him.
His stupid boyfriend who he loved so much, with his stupid shirt, that Dino really needed, and Dino knows he should be mad at Luke for taking it, but God, the idea of Luke sleepily cuddling into Dino’s shirt, made Dino want to up and leave to go give his stupid boyfriend a kiss.
“So,” Lewis started, clearly hesitant. “You're dating your teammate.” Dino froze up slightly, everyone knew how Lewis and Nico ended their “friendship” and Dino could feel Lewis’ apprehension.
What Lewis said next however would leave Dino reeling, “Don’t let competition ruin it for you. Me and Nico almost did. I… I think if we hadn't fixed it… if we hadn't gotten married. It would have ruined me.” Lewis almost whispered the last part.
Charles took in a sharp breath, “you two are married? It can work out?” Lewis nodded slowly.
“It did for me and it did for Kimi and Seb.” Dino’s eyes went wide, what sort of top secret F1 knowledge were they emparting on him right now?
“I knew about Kimi and Seb, but I kinda thought they were the outliers. I suppose…” Charles trailed off, not finishing whatever thought he had started. Lewis laid a hand on Charles' shoulder.
“No, they really weren't, I mean look at Mark and Fernando.” Both Charles and Dino’s head shot over to look at Lewis.
“WHAT!” they both yelled at the same time, Charles grabbed Lewis’ shoulders, “What do you mean Mark and Fernando?” Charles asked, almost shaking Lewis. Lewis looked shocked.
“I thought… ya know… please stop shaking me.” Lewis said. “Why is this the most surprising thing?”
Charles let go of Lewis. “Well I knew about Kimi and Seb, and you and Nico, well you too had your thing, but Mark and Fernando. I knew they were kinda gay, but I didn't know that they were together!”
Lewis slowly blinked at Charles. “They were the first to get married.”
Charles sat down, and put his face in his hands.
“Well,” Dino said, playing with the hem of his sweater. “Should we get started with the video they want us to do?”
Lewis looked over to Charles. “Sure.”
Now Dino thought that after he had called Luke disappointed about him stealing his shirt, that Luke would stop, how wrong Dino had been.
Dino really hadn't noticed anymore of his stuff going missing, however he also hadn't really thought about it. Dino had honestly kinda forgotten about the whole shirt thing, due to the whole, “gay marriage thing” and if Dino was honest, he had just pushed it to the back of his mind.
Dino walked into Luke’s hotel room. They were planning on watching a movie together after quali, and Dino was excited. He set down the food he had brought, and plopped down on the vaguely uncomfortable hotel couch, waiting for Luke to come out of the bathroom, where he was taking a shower.
Dino turned on the TV and flicked through Netflix searching for a movie for them to watch. Settling on Pacific Rim, an old movie Dino had watched when he was younger. One he had been wanting to watch with Luke for a while now.
Dino had set up the movie, when Luke walked out of the bathroom. He was dripping water, and wearing too big sweats, and a too big sweater. He plopped down, next to Dino, squishing his damp hair into Dino’s neck.
Dino pushed him away, “Luke, ew your wet.” Dino giggled, fluffing Luke’s hair, and spraying water over both of them.
Dino wrapped his arms around Luke, and turned the movie on. It took until half way through the movie when Dino started to trace the stitched lettering on the sweater Luke was wearing, for Dino to realize something.
Dino looked down, he knew that sweater, and in fact he knew those pants too.
“Luke,” Dino started, Luke looked up and over to him. “Luke, those are my pants, and that's my sweater.” Luke’s eyes suddenly filled with fear.
“Ya…” Luke said shamefully, Dino sighed.
He thought for a moment. While the last two times Luke had stolen from Dino, Dino had been angry, now that Dino thought about it, “Luke why do you keep stealing my clothing?” Dino asked, pressing his nose into Luke’s hair.
Luke avoided Dino’s eyes, “I miss you, and your clothing helps me feel like you're here.” Luke’s voice is small.
Dino smiled into Luke’s hair, “You can steal any of my clothing when you want. Just try not to take my Ferrari stuff, I need that.” He said, playing with a few strands of Luke’s hair.
“Aww.” Luke faked annoyance. “I love feeling like I’m yours.” Dino choked.
“Oh.” Dino felt his cheeks warm up. Yup Dino was done for.
Luke cuddled closer into Dino, sighing contently. Dino turned his attention back to the movie, trying to cool down the heat in his cheeks.
“Love you Dino.” whispered Luke.
Dino kissed Luke on the head, “I love you too.”
