They're driving to the arena, Randy in the driver's seat, arm outstretched to hold onto Cody's hand, resting on the center console. Cody's in the passenger seat, fiddling with his hoodie, switching between rubbing the fabric between his fingers and chewing on the sleeve. He doesn't have a match tonight, but he had practically begged to accompany Randy to his match. And by begged, he means Cody asked exactly once and Randy folded immediately. The radio is playing some random country station softly, barely audible over the sound of the engine. Randy can't help but glance over every so often, just enjoying the way that the sun falls over his baby's face, his white hair shining in the light.
“You excited to come with?”
Cody nods, taking the sleeve out of his mouth, and smiles. He squeezes Randy's hand, rubbing his fingers over the older man's knuckles. “M gonna have fun.”
“Yeah? Who do you think will win tonight, me or Kevin?”
Cody giggles, and the noise makes Randy's lips curl up into a smile, chest warm with love. “Obvishly you daddy. Kevs don stand a chance.”
Randy smiles at Cody's confidence in him, chuckling lightly. “You gonna hang out with Punk while daddy has his match?”
“Nuh uh.” Cody's back to fiddling with the sweater, twisting one of the drawstrings around the fingers of his free hand. “Uncle Tuth and I gonna make bacelets.”
Randy smiles, turning into the parking lot of the arena. He's the luckiest man on this earth. He's going to win his match tonight, his boy will be there to celebrate with him afterwards. He can't wait to see what kind of bracelets him and his Uncle T-
Wait a minute
“Cody, baby boy?”
“Mhm?” Cody hums, staring out the window in awe of the arena. No matter how many times he's been here while big, it's like bringing him to Disneyland when he's little.
“Cody, who's ‘Uncle Tuth'?”
“Uncle Tuth!”
Randy bites back a sigh, not wanting to get frustrated when the younger man is genuinely answering his question.
“Is it someone I know?”
“Mhm!” Cody suddenly gets a really focused look on his face and he stutters a few times, eventually getting the words out. “Is R-Truth!” He smiles at himself, clearly pleased.
“R-Truth?” Randy nearly yells his name in surprise, and Cody nods at him. The older man doesn't know what to say, opening and closing his mouth a few times as he pulls into a free parking spot. “And he, knows? About you being little?”
Cody nods again, and smiles at Randy. “Yeah! He and I hangs out a lot.”
“When did you tell him?” He's not upset, more curious than anything. He feels weird that he didn't know that Truth knew, but it's not really his place he thinks.
“Didn. He jus knew, helped me pack my bag and gots me food. And now we hangs out!”
Randy's glad Cody has someone looking out for him, he knows that he can't be there 24/7 like he would like to be. He's still just a little confused on how he didn't know sooner, but whatever. Cody's struggling with his buckle, tongue sticking out in concentration, and Randy leans over to help him out. The younger man laughs, leaning forward to press a slobbery kiss against Randy's cheek, and the older man waits until Cody's turned around to wipe the spit off of his face hurriedly. Cody practically skips towards the arena, still holding onto Randy's hand, swinging their arms between him. They get to Randy's locker room and Cody sits down on the couch, waiting for Randy to be finished changing into his gear.
“Okay, Codes?” Randy waits until the younger hums back, making sure he has his attention. “You have fun with Truth, ok? But remember you can always ask someone for me if it's an emergency, ok?”
“Ok! Good luck daddy!” He wraps his arms around Randy, nuzzling his head against his chest before he pulls back, smiling wide. Randy pulls him back in, placing a kiss on the top of his head.
“Thank you baby. Have fun!”
Cody waves at him while he leaves, smiling happily. He sits back down on the couch and waits, fiddling with his sweater as he does so, placing the sleeve into his mouth. He hasn't even been alone for five minutes when there's a knock on the door, and it opens, R-Truth coming in with a box in his hands.
“Uncle Tuth!” Cody stands up and grabs the box, placing it down on the table before he wraps his arms around the other man, pulling him into a hug.
“Baby Codes!” The older man laughs, swaying them where they're standing while Cody giggles. “Guess what's in the box!”
Cody looks at the box for a moment, eyebrows furrowed, before he shrugs and turns back to him. “Dunno?”
“It's the beads! Here.” Truth opens the box, carefully pulling out a plastic container of rainbow beads, and another container of letter ones. “This way we can make matching ones!”
He sets them down on the floor, motioning for Cody to sit down when he does, and opens the containers, pulling out some string.
“Can we makes matching ones?”
“Of course baby Codes!”
The two sit across from each other, comparing the colors of the beads and coming up with a pattern, Truth letting Cody do most of the picking. They talk softly to each other, Cody giggling often, smiling the whole time. Randy's match is playing on the small TV in the room, and occasionally the younger man gets distracted, staring wide eyed up at the screen. They end up with a blue-black pattern, with Cody's saying ‘baby codes’ and Truth's saying ‘uncle truth’. Truth puts his on immediately, admiring it, then puts his wrist out so that Cody can have a better look. “I'll treasure it forever!”
Cody's just as excited, rocking back and forth as he puts his on. “We match!”
“We do!”
Cody laughs again, before he looks back at the beads in between them, worrying his bottom lip with his teeth. He doesn't say anything, but Truth can tell he's contemplating something.
“What do you need Codes?”
“Wanna make daddy one. Wha colors?”
“Hmmmm. How about these ones?” He points to two side by side in the container, a dark orange and black, and Cody looks up, nodding his head in excitement.
“Mhm!”
Truth helps him out putting together the bracelet, helping him pick out the beads that spell ‘RKO’ to put on the bracelet. They only stop briefly to celebrate when Randy wins his match, Cody standing up to jump up and down in excitement, Truth joining him in the jumping less than a second later. By the time they're finished, Randy's match is done, and they both hear the door click open. Randy's there, with a sweater on, still in his trunks, and he opens his arms just in time to catch his boy, who flings himself at the older man with an excited yell.
“Daddy! You won!”
“I did! You have fun with Truthy baby?”
“Mhm! We match!” He twists his wrist to show Randy, pulling Truth over to show Randy his. “See?”
“I do, that's so cool!”
Truth slaps Randy on the chest, smiling. “We even made one for you daddy.”
“Never call me that again.”
“I regretted it the moment it came out of my mouth, big guy.”
Cody doesn't hear the interaction, running over to the beads to grab Randy's bracelet, coming back to show him.
“Looky, is you!”
“Oh it is!” Randy's not really a jewelry guy. He's never been one to wear them, not finding the need, but he immediately takes the bracelet from Cody, pulling it onto his wrist, before he leans forward to kiss Cody's forehead. “And now we match!”
He turns to Truth, nodding his head at the man. “Thank you for looking after him.”
“Of course! It's my pleasure dude!”
Cody twists around to bring Truth into a hug, both of them smiling. “Thank you Uncle Tuth.”
Truth pats Cody on the back while he responds. “Any day of the week baby Codes.”
Truth puts the plastic containers back in the box, waving bye to them as he leaves the locker room, giving Cody one last hug, and Randy a pat on the back, before he fully exits out of the door.
“‘M glad you had fun baby. I could tell you were cheering me on from here, that's why I won.”
“I helped!” Cody laughs, laying his head on Randy's shoulder. He grabs at Randy's wrist, fiddling with the beads on the bracelet, smiling softly. “Love you daddy.”
“I love you even more Cody.”
