It was sweet, seeing her so enthralled in the game.
The past few hours were spent being fixed on Susie showing her favorite game, Crashout, to Noelle who had only vague memories of the game when she was younger. This information quickly prompted Susie to explain the game in its entirety with Noelle offering to boot up a new save from her Dad's old copy and have Susie offer her a "lore playthrough."
They were sat on the floor of Noelle's living room, a veggie platter and a plate of buffalo wings on the coffee table in front of them. The house was empty due to Noelle's mother being gone on a business trip and her father still spending overnights at the hospital.
Noelle did her best to keep up with the story and manage Susie's continuous mentions of vague
“Important lore implications- It'll make sense later," despite her noticing how excited and pleased the other monster was to explain the story for her. It was hard to focus on the details of the story when she was able to study how her excitement made her tail thump lightly against the couch, or how easy it was for Susie to scooch closer on a particularly exciting scene and touch Noelle's shoulder when she needed her to pay attention to the dialogue.
Honestly, the scenario she was in was better than any daydream Noelle could have. They had only been dating for a few weeks and Susie had been to her house a handful of times to hang out, usually only as an excuse to help her "study," per her mother's requirements for Susie staying late with the offer of an easy dinner.
"OH WAIT-!" Susie placed her hand on her girlfriend's shoulder, "We're getting to the best part Noelle!
Remember when Maddox mentioned the Dark Rifle being given to Lorelai? King Firedrake is about to blow your MIND!" Susie said with excitement straining her voice. Noelle could not help but stare into her amber eyes as she stared at the screen in front of them.
Without thinking about the actions of her choices, Noelle faced Susie on the ground and placed her hand on her girlfriend's stomach. She knew she probably looked ridiculous right now and had just the slightest bit of guilt for not really paying attention to the cutscene playing in front of her but seeing Susie so animated made her feel dizzy as the dopamine receptors in her brain fired.
Susie, caught off guard, looked at her with the slightest tinge of red in her cheeks.
"Um.. l'd really like to kiss you right now, i-if that's okay?" Noelle asked, tucking a piece of hair behind Susie's ear.
The lack of blood flow to her brain allowed her to make completely sensible decisions.
Wide eyed and flush faced, Susie looked at her with a mixture of anticipation and shock, nervous laughter firing out of her chest like a gunshot.
She nodded quickly.
Without further hesitation, Noelle pressed her lips to Susie's, completely enveloped in ecstasy as she felt Susie kiss back and place her hands on her shoulders, the game controller getting dropped behind her. The doe's hands found their way to the back of her neck as she felt the need to get closer. Her girlfriend leaned into her, hands on her waist as they ignored the video game scene playing before them.
Breaking for breath, they stared at each other for a brief moment before looking away with scarlet faces.
The game had finished its cutscene and it was just the quiet hum of music coming from the TV speakers along with the light thumping coming from behind Susie left over from their embrace.
Noelle placed her hands on the sides of Susie's face, giggling with closed eyes and furrowed brows. She rested her head against her girlfriend's shoulder and placed the game controller in her lap, only to find herself picked up on her sides and placed into her partner's lap, arms around her as she picked up the controller and cleared her throat.
"So, uh. King Firedrake possessed the Dark Rifle the entire time and he just admitted to it, he was with us the entire time..." She said, smoothing the side of her hair.
Noelle couldn't help but giggle, turning back to her to kiss her cheek to then focus on the TV in front of her.
