Jason was fighting for his life again. He was bloody and bruised and he had probably been shot.
Jason faced down the cyclops and decided that if he was going to go down, he was going down fighting. His weapon was out of his hands, he'd lost it five minutes ago.
Jason put his fists up and the cyclops laughed in his face. "Is the puny hero going to fist-fight me?" It mocked, and Jason nodded.
"I fought the titan Krios with my bare hands. You are a cyclops." Jason muttered, then raised his voice to a shout. "Yeah, I think I am!"
The cyclops swung at him and Jason went feral. Jason grabbed the monster's weapon out of his hands and threw it away, then began beating onto it. The cyclops shouted in pain.
Jason fought like Lupa had taught him to in times of need: brutally and remorselessly. He pounded his fists into the cyclops's face until it turned to sticky yellow dust.
Jason let up once the monster was gone and realized the battle was over. He sighed with relief.
Jason stood up, and saw Leo standing there.
"Hey," Jason said, trying to sound casual and not jacked with adrenaline. He didn't think it was working, seeing Leo's eyes were wide, like they were when he wielded lightning.
"Oh my gods," Leo said. "Uh, here's your sword." Leo pressed a coin into Jason's hand.
"Thanks," Jason said, smiling. "Let's get out of here, yeah?" Leo nodded, and they walked away from the battle side by side.
