Chapter Text
Tiana let herself be dragged up into Lotties bedroom as she recounted everything that had just happened to her. She watched as her dreams shattered and crumbled right in front of her as the Fenner Brothers stuffed their faces with her beignets. As they walked up the grand marble stairs Charlotte began droning on and on about her dance with the prince, completely missing the whole conversation her and those greedy Fenners had just had.
Wednesday. She had until Wednesday or her dreams of owning her restaurant were down the drain, all her hard work, all those years of saving, and working for nothing. She choked out a sob at the thought as Lottie helped her into her bedroom, sitting her down on her luscious pink bed. “Oh Tia Honey! Did you see the way he looked at me?!? A marriage proposal CANT be far behind!” Charlotte exclaimed, handing Tiana a blue gown. Taking the dress, Tiana solemnly went to change, holding back tears as she listened to her friend prattle on about her dreams coming true.
Lost within a deep sea of her own thoughts Tiana slipped on the fancy getup and gazed at herself in the mirror. If she hadn't looked so miserable she might've thought herself to be a princess. Her long hair had been pulled into a bun save for the few curls that tried to escape, and her ebony skin popped under the blue silk and jewels that adorned her body. As she stepped out from the changing screens she heard Lottie gasp and whip
her body around facing away from her gaudy vanity. Causing her glittering pink dress to move with her. “Look at you…Aren’t you just as pretty as a magnolia in may?” Charlotte picks up the tiara she’d set aside for Tiana and places it on her friend's head, guiding her over to a nearby mirror to adjust it. “Seems like only yesterday we were both little girls wishing our fairytale dreams. And tonight they’re finally coming true.” At this Tiana looked up at Lottie in the mirror, desperately trying to hold her tears back. Charlotte, seeing her friend finished with dressing excitedly adjusts her bra and gives her friend one last playful nudge. “Well… Back to the fray!” She says gliding over to the door with effortless grace and confidence . “Wish me luck! Oh Naveen!!” She yelled slamming the door behind her, leaving Tiana in the room alone.
