Work Text:

Your name is Jora Malli, and you are proud to be a Jedi.

You have ushered two Padawans to Knights. Every day, you question the status quo, and challenge the assumed-to-be with dignity, grace, and gravitas. Your critics believe you to be reckless and impulsive, and most of the time, you think their critiques are unfair, but sometimes, you can admit they have a point.

Your name is Jora Malli, and you feel most at home away from Coruscant.

Away from the magnificent Temple on Coruscant and among the citizenry of the galaxy is where you feel the Light side of the Force the strongest. You are a Council member–a position you do not take lightly–but what is the good of a leader, sequestered in a high tower? No, you must be in the galaxy and travel far and wide, and speak to as many beings as possible.

Your name is Jora Malli, and you are going to be Marshall of Starlight Beacon.

The space station is a feat of engineering and science just as much as it is an invention of diplomacy and good-will. In your most private moments, you are maybe a little relieved to step down from the Council to assume leadership of Starlight. You are looking forward to pushing your current bookish Padawan out of his comfort zone, and are excited to see him grow and evolve past his narrow expectations of himself. You will lead Starlight with your best friend at your side, and despite the tragedy of the Hyperspace Disaster, you have faith in Light, and in Life.

Your name is Jora Malli, and when you become one with the Force, your spirit is snuffed out in the mind and thoughts of Avar Kriss.

Your name is Avar Kriss, and you are going to be Marshall of Starlight Beacon.

The space station is an incredible accomplishment for the Republic and for the Order, and you have no time to prepare what it will mean to lead the Station. You are personally offered the position nine hours before the dedication ceremony by Grandmasters Veter and Yoda, for stars’ sake! How can you refuse? You never wanted a position on the Council–you’ve never even taken a position at a Jedi Outpost! Amongst your allies and friends, though, you hope you will evolve and grow with this position and responsibility that has been unexpectedly thrust upon you. You will lead Starlight far away from your two closest friends, but with fellow Jedi that will become your confidants and support. Despite the tragedy of the Hyperspace Disaster, you have faith in Light, and in Life.

Your name is Avar Kriss, and you feel most at home away from Coruscant, and away from Starlight Beacon.

Away from Starlight’s glittering new halls and the Temple’s solemn architecture is where you feel the Light side of the Force the strongest. You are the Marshall of Starlight Beacon–a position you do not take lightly–but what is the good of a leader, sequestered in a high tower? Despite how many children you’ve seen buried as the Drengir claim more lives, despite the rising threat of the Nihil and their tyranny, despite being hijacked by the very Drengir you fight against, you must be in the galaxy and travel far and wide, and speak to as many beings as possible.

Your name is Avar Kriss, and you are proud to be a Jedi.

You have never taken a Padawan, but have Knighted one. Every day, you question the status quop, and challenge the assumed-to-be with as much kindness as you can muster. You’ve felt dozens of Jedi die in your thoughts, and have seen hundreds of lives cut short by the menace of the Drengir. Your critics believe you to be reckless and impulsive, and most of the time, you think their critiques are unfair, but sometimes, in the darkest hours of night, when you are finally alone, you wonder if they have a point.

Your name is Avar Kriss, and in your most insecure moments, you cannot help but wonder if Jora Malli would have chosen you as her replacement.

Notes:

SORRY ABOUT THE PAIN !!! (only kind of sorry.)

Kudos polish Avar's diadem; comments bring Jora's Force ghost back to tell Avar she's doing a good job.
