Work Text:

Momoko loved pictures. She practically had the camera on her phone at any moment of the day. She was constantly complaining about running out of memory because she took a million pictures of a snail on the sidewalk, a puppy from across the street, or cute things she saw at stores on the way home.

More than anything, her phone was filled of selfies and pictures of Ichimatsu and Yoji, always taken when they weren’t paying attention. Most of the ones of Yoji were when he was cooking dinner, Momoko always saying that he looked cute with an apron and editing the picture to have a dozen hearts around it. At least half of the ones of Ichimatsu were of him napping, curled up like a cat and always edited to have not as many hearts as Yoji, only because they were covered in different cat stickers and paws. Some of them were of the two together, cuddling on the couch waiting for Momoko to get home from her day job. She always had her phone ready because she thought it was cute to see how one or both had dozed off, usually drooling a little (and Yoji snoring always) and then getting startled from the flash of Momoko’s phone.

And of course, she loved pictures of all three of them, but she had such a hard time convincing either of them to take a picture with her. Ichimatsu always hid his face behind a surgical mask, fake coughing and telling Momoko that he couldn’t take it off or she’d get sick. That or he’d go furry and dart out the window. Yoji would purposely look away or leave his glasses on so the flash would reflect, ruining to photo and then ignoring Momoko when she insisted on retaking it.

She was determined to at least have a picture of all three of them on their anniversary. For once, Ichimatsu wasn’t in his pajamas or work clothes and Yoji never failed to clean up well when necessary, so it really was a great photo opportunity.

“Excuse me!” she immediately flagged down their waiter, already opening up the camera on her phone. Yoji was already groaning and Ichimatsu was about to high tail it to the bathroom. She held on to his hand, making sure he didn’t. Yoji resigned to his fate, removing his glasses before Momoko complained about him ruining another picture.

“Could you take a picture of us? Pleaseeee?”

The waiter took the phone, and Momoko immediately put her arms around the other two, pulling them close to her side.

The flash went off and the waiter returned the phone, Momoko cheerfully thanking him before opening up the picture. Ichimatsu slumped into his seat and Yoji carefully put his glasses back on.

“See! We look super good!” She held it up to show both of them.

“Yeah, that pile of garbage next to you definitely completes the picture.”

“Oh be quiet Ichimatsu, you look like your almost genuinely smiling.”

“One day I will master the art of smiling. Right after I find the cure for cancer.”

Momoko rolled her eyes at him.

“The picture is still good and you all know damn well I’m posting this all over the place.”

            “Nooo, don’t do that!”

“Too late, it’s done, it already has 10 likes on Facebook.” Momoko stuck out her tongue at both of them.

“Totty just sent me a text congratulating me for almost looking like a well-adjusted adult.” Before, Ichimatsu might have slammed his face into the table in embarrassment, but instead he hid his face in this hands.

“I mean we all look like well-adjusted adults in this picture, but we know we’re going to home after this and make baby noises at the cat until she pays attention to us.”

“You say that like it’s a problem, Yoji.”

“It’s not a problem, but well-adjusted adults don’t make baby noises at cats.”

“But the cat is our baby.”

As expected, they did go home and laid across the floor, making cooing sounds at the cat, Yuki, until she finally chose to stand on top of Ichimatsu’s chest (who had the face of a proud father).

And of course Momoko took a picture of that too.
