Chapter Text

"Oh shit"

Randal's fake tooth kept popping out of place, it was starting to get real bothersome after a few tries, or perhaps he was too impatient and bothered this morning.  He huffed as he let it go, that's not his favorite look but he doesn't mind the sharp teeth making an appearance every once in a while, maybe some kid at school would ask about it and ask to be friends because his fangs are really cool, or not, it didn't matter. Randal wasn't feeling exceptionally passionate about anything today, he was having a terrible hair day, and his skin sagged around his eyes despite his attempts to pull himself back together, he was falling apart and not in a fun way.

"Look at your face! Did you even sleep last night?"

Luther commented, his tone slightly scolding.

"I'm decomposing"

"Well you can't go to school like that"

"Ehh"

Randal shrugged as he slumped on his chair, eyeing the food before him. Pancakes again, just like yesterday. Randal let out a small exhale through his nose.

"Again?"

"Don't be picky"

Luther scolded again, now slightly aware of the change in the boy's demeanor. Even if a little grumpy on mornings he was always excited on Mondays to go to school, that's odd.

"Hurry up and eat your breakfast so I can fix you up, you're already late"

Randal let out a sigh in response, he began to eat his food, toying with it for the most part. Luther let the boy sulk there while he checked the pantry, writing down a list to go grocery shopping later, he occasionally glanced back at Randal. The boy has picked out the berries from the pancakes, but that was his favorite part, what is happening there, a mini tantrum?

Randal was smashing berries with his fork when Luther took the almost empty plate away. He put the dish by the sink and began his attempts to reform Randal's face into something a little presentable.

"Wanna join me later today to the supermarket?"

"Nah"

"You know snacks aren't on the list"

"That's cool"

Luther let out a small disappointed sigh, he was growing frustrated by the second for the boy's face refused to cooperate today.

"Will you stop that?"

"Stop what?"

"Your face"

"I'm not doing anything!"

Luther knew it was time to drop it when the boy's tone raised a little bit, he seems to be having a rough day already so he decided to spare him the stress.

Luther let out a sigh when he looked at the final result, the boy still looked as miserable as he was 10 minutes ago, oh well. It was time to go anyways, an hour later it wouldn't matter.

Luther watched his little brother walk out and to the bus stop, while resting on the door frame he let out a long sigh. He's at that stage huh.

"Did I do something wrong?"

he turned to his two catmen -and Sebastian- who were still finishing up their breakfast. The catmen shook their heads in sync, Sebastian ignored him as he usually did.

"Hmm.."

Randal hasn't spoken to anyone at school yet, normally he would greet every other person he sees at the hall, but today he was too distracted with his magic sabotaging his every motion, he tripped and wobbled to class, his gravity center shifted from back to front randomly and unprompted.

"Hmm.. I'm falling apart"

He said to himself before sitting down at his desk, his desk mate looking away in an attempt of pretending he wasn't hearing or seeing what was going on with this strange kid.

The school day went painfully slow, nothing fun was happening, most of the times it was Randal's job to make something fun out of his surroundings but he was off the clock today. The mild discomfort soon turned into distinguishable pain, he felt his brain sloshing inside his head, and it hurt, his tummy twisted in knots and he couldn't simply "make" anything feel better. He let out a shuddered exhale and crossed his hands over the table, he tried to go for a better strategy since his magical organs refused to listen to him, he needed to heal. He put his head over his crossed arms, making a little box of darkness in an attemt to rest his aching head, but it wouldn't work, matter of fact he was starting to feel short on air, it's odd, not even in his tightly sealed casket that ventilation was an issue before. He lifted his head, flushed and glistened with sweat. He let out a small nervous laugh that everyone ignored to the best of their ability, he sometimes did that and it often wasn't good news.

"Hmm.."

Luther rubbed his chin in a thoughtful manner.

"..."

Sebastian sat stiffly on the other end of the dining table, he's been sitting there in silence for the past 10 minutes while Luther stared deep into his soul.

Luther adjusted his position and propped himself on his elbows, resting his chin over the back of his interwinded hands.

"I admit have been a little mean to him this morning"

Luther finally spoke.

"Uh.."

Sebastian looked around and then back at Luther, he didn't know what to do with this guy.

"It's important to acknowledge the swing moods that comes with adulthood and embrace them"

He continues.

"Uh huh.."

Sebastian kept minimum engagement as he looked around for an exit since getting up and leaving didn't work and he got tossed back into his chair.

"How do you think I should make it up for him"

Sebastian shrugged in response, yet Luther kept staring at him, waiting for something.

Luckily for Sebastian, the phone rang after a few uncomfortable seconds, distracting Luther who got up to answer. Sebastian stood up ready to flee but Luther pushed him back down to his chair, pointing to him to stay where he is, to which Sebastian grunted in annoyance.

"Yes this is him.. oh dear.."

Luther pointed at the  handle as he whispered to Sebastian from across the room

"School is calling"

Sebastian really didn't give a shit, well maybe he did, a little bit. It was a little curious everytime that guy did something that resembled a normal boy, and Sebastian couldn't even imagine what could possibly prompt a call from school, they were all probably a bunch of weirdos as well.

Luther’s stoic expression cracked for a brief moment, it happned to fast that Sebastian couldn't spot it, his eyes followed the phone handle as the taller man put it down, ending the call, how come that phone work for everyone but him?

Sebastian watched the man leave in a hurry, to "school" he assumed, and just around the corner the taller man turned his head all the way to the back.

"Stay behaved"

He said, his tone slightly accusatory, to which Sebastian sighed in annoyance before he disappeared the moment he was out of the man's range of sight.
