No kiss?

Summary:

Eddie usually gives Buck a kiss every morning.
He forgets one morning and Buck definitely does not act like a moody brat about it.

Work Text:

Rays of sunshine peeked through the curtains and into the Buckley-Diaz household. Buck stirred in his sleep, dark marks littering his neck and chest from the night before. He smiled at the thought as he stretched and rolled over to— an empty bed.. Ok, Eddie must’ve gotten up already. That’s fine. Buck was expecting to cuddle and kiss his husband like they did every morning but this is fine too. It’s not a problem, and Buck won’t make it one.

Buck rolled out of bed—reluctantly, and made his way into the kitchen. He heard soft shuffling as he turned to see Eddie moving around their shared space.

“Hey, baby” Buck mumbled as he sleepily wrapped his arms around his lovers waist.

“Mm, hey. Was wondering when you were gonna get up. Our shift starts soon” Eddie said, leaning into Buck’s touch.

Buck leans down to rest his head on Eddie’s shoulder. He shifts slightly and begins trailing soft kisses down his partner’s neck.

“Uh-uh” Eddie says with a playful tone, “We need to get ready for work. I made you coffee, it’s on the table.”

Eddie makes his way into their bedroom to get dressed for the day.

Buck’s left standing alone, slightly dumbfounded. He said he wouldn’t make it a big deal but it’s starting to feel like a big deal. Eddie hasn’t kissed him once since he’s woken up.
And yeah, they did have mind blowing sex the night before and Buck should be grateful that their sex life is so active despite all the stories he’s heard of couples losing their “spark” when they get married—

Buck sighs. It’s not a big deal. He drinks his coffee in silence and goes to put on his uniform.

Buck sprawled out on the couch with a dramatic groan. He made it to the station before Eddie. Today was Eddie’s day to take Christopher to school so they drove separate cars. It’s fine, convenient even. Would Buck have preferred to ride with Eddie and maybe get a kiss out of it to make up for the one he forgot this morning? Yes, but he told himself he wasn’t gonna make it a problem.

His train of thought was interrupted when Chim joined him on the couch.

“Woahh, looks like someone had a good time” Chim said, eyeing the bruises on Buck’s neck.

”Not in the mood, Chim.”

”Trouble in paradise?” Chim replied with a chuckle.

Buck glared at him.

”It’s just-“ Buck struggled to find the words, “Eddie and I-“

”Eddie and I, what?” said a voice behind them. Buck nearly jumped out of his seat.

”Nothing!” Buck said turning to face the voice in question. How the hell did he not notice Eddie walking in?

Eddie laughed, “Relax, looks like you saw a ghost” He made his way to the fridge, presumably looking for a snack.

Buck turned to Chim who gave him that “I’m gonna go because this feels like a personal matter” look before heading downstairs to join the others.

Buck stood with a sigh. He’s an adult. He knows how to communicate. If he has a problem he can talk it out.
He promptly made his way over to Eddie.
Eddie gently shut the fridge door and turned to look at Buck.

”Is..everything okay?” Eddie spoke carefully.

Buck wracked his brain, searching for the right words. Just then, the alarm blared.

”We’ll talk later.” Buck said, walking away leaving a confused Eddie behind.

The call was a simple one, almost. There was a car accident but nobody was seriously injured. A girl was driving, looked at her phone for a little too long, and slammed right into the back of an SUV. By the time the 118 arrived, it was chaos.

”I’m so sorry!” yelled the girl, who was no older than 20.

”Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?!” said another woman, probably the SUV driver, Buck thought.

”Ma’am, I’m gonna need you to take a seat. You’re bleeding and you need to be examined” spoke Chimney as he led the woman to a nearby curb.

“What I need- is to call my insurance company! Do you know how much that damage is gonna cost me?” The woman argued.

Chim looked over to Hen who was already examining the other girl.

”All good over here, Cap!” Hen said.

“Alright, we’ll get these ladies escorted to the hospital. Eddie, Buck, you guys check the vehicles and make sure they’re clear”

”On it, Cap.” Buck made his way to the SUV. The woman was right, the damage was probably gonna cost her a lot. The bumper of the car was completely destroyed. Buck examined the inside of the vehicle, seeing as there were no other passengers, he made his way back to the truck.

”All good?” Eddie asked.

”Yep.” Buck said bluntly.

Buck climbed inside, not sitting in his usual seat next to Eddie. Eddie looked at him with confusion but couldn’t say anything as the rest of the 118 followed.

”You guys ready to go?” Bobby asked.

”Yep, we’re good, Cap.” Hen replied.

The ride back to the station was uncomfortably silent. Hen and Chim could tell there was something wrong. Hen turned to Eddie, giving him a questioning glance. Eddie just gave a sad shrug of his shoulders in response. Chim looked over at Buck who wasn’t sitting in his usual sport for starters, and on top of that he was looking out the window with a sad puppy-dog look in his eyes.

Yeah, something was definitely wrong.

When the 118 made it back to the station, Hen stopped Eddie in his tracks.

”I don’t know what’s going on with you two, but whatever it is, fix it. It’s weird seeing you guys act so distant with each other.”

Eddie watched everyone else clear out—not paying them any mind— before responding,

”That’s the thing, I don’t know what’s wrong. Buck was fine this morning.”

“Just talk to him. He’s probably in his head about something, you know how Buck gets.”

Hen gave him an empathetic smile before heading upstairs.

Eddie sighed. Talking about his feelings was hard but he loved Buck. He would do anything for him. He needed him to know that.

Eddie made his way to the locker room where he found his partner taking off his gear.

”What’s going on with you?” Eddie asked—alright, straight to the point.

Buck startled. “Nothing. I’m fine.” He said, turning back to face his locker.

With another sigh, Eddie stood beside Buck.

”Baby, please, talk to me. Did I do something to upset you?”

Buck’s demeanor softened. “No, it’s just- it’s stupid.”

Eddie gently held Buck’s face in his hands, “My love, if it bothers you this much, it’s not stupid. Talk to me.”

Buck’s eyes began to well up with tears. No way he was about to cry over this—

“You didn’t kiss me.” Buck blurted out.

”What?”

”This morning- you didn’t kiss me. You always kiss me but for some reason you didn’t.” Buck pouted.

”Oh, baby” Eddie laughed.

Buck glared and turned to pull away. Eddie held him closer.

”I’m so sorry, sweetheart.” Eddie pressed a soft kiss to Buck’s forehead.

”I’m the worst.” Eddie said playfully, another kiss to his cheek.

”I won’t forget again.” And another to his lips.

”You promise?” Buck asked, his voice slightly above a whisper.

”I promise.”

Eddie truly loved this man with every fiber of his being.

Notes:

hey thanks for reading!!!
I love these two and wanted Buck to get the love he deserves, and I 100% believe he would lowkey be a brat if Eddie didn’t give him enough attention so

Kudos and comments are appreciated :)
