Thump.

The sudden tremor in the floor was enough to completely snap Atsushi out of thought from his cooking, ears twitching as he listened carefully for any sign of distress inside or out of the apartment. The fact that there was none should have put him at ease, but truth be told, it was even more concerning that the entire place had gone silent.

‘Ryuunosuke! Everything alright in there? Did you drop something?’

No answer. If he wasn’t already worried about his fiancé, the lack of response set alarm bells ringing in his head. He nearly soaked himself with boiling water in his hurry to put down the pot he was holding, running out of the kitchen and to the cozy room they shared. He froze in his tracks the moment he opened the door, staring at a seemingly very unconscious Akutagawa. Fainting wasn’t exactly uncommon for him due to his illness, but usually the black haired man would at least have some kind of warning; I.e feeling a bit lightheaded, blurry vision, something of the like.

‘Oh god, Ryuu— Ryuu, can you hear me? Ryuu!’

The one downside about his usual warnings was that he usually had a quiet place where he could wait it out and wake up peacefully, so Atsushi had no idea that fainting was a side effect, or what to do. Sure, he could handle panic attacks, since he had them often enough himself, but oh god, how was he supposed to handle this? Ah! Dazai-San! He knew Akutagawa better than anyone, surely the brunette would know what to do.

By now, the weretiger was kneeling on the floor next to his partner, anxiously picking at the carpet while the phone line rung far too loudly for his taste. A moment later, to Atsushi’s chagrin, a beep sounded on his end followed by the tell tale beginning of an annoying “Man lease leave a message at the beep!” Unfortunately, he was wholly correct in his idea. Curse Dazai’s predictability.

“Hello! I’m probably off finding a beautiful woman to commit double suicide with, please leave a message at the beep!”

‘H-hey, Dazai-San, I need a little help here… Ryuu passed out in our room, and he won’t wake up so I have no idea what to do, could you maybe come over? Like, right now?’

A shrill ringing met him as a response the second he finished talking, oh thank whatever deities created them! Dazai was calling him back! Of course he wouldn’t ignore Atsushi, the white haired boy never called or asked for help unless he really needed it, which was rare enough as is since he had his ability to aid him in most scenarios, which consisted usually of either a mission or simply dealing with another criminal in the streets.

‘Heyyyyy, Atsushi! What’s up? Not like you to call anyone on your day off, weren’t you planning on spending the day with Akutagawa? Something up with him?’

‘Yeah, uh, he kinda passed out in our room and hems not waking up, so o figured I should call you since you know him even better than I do and you have experience with his condition and—‘

‘Okay, slow down. You said he passed out? First thing you wanna do is get a pillow under his head. Then, go grab some cold water and an ibuprofen or two, because he’s gonna have one hell of a headache when he gets up. Trust me on this one. I’ll stay on the line until he’s awake, just take some deep breaths and focus on not dropping anything.’

Okay, okay. A pillow, no problem! They had plenty of super soft velvet ones on the bed, since Aku said, and he quoted “Any other fabric is simply inferior to such smoothness.” How he ended up proposing to him, he would never truly understand. But would he really have it any other way? Absolutely not, this man was going to be his husband in just five short months!

Next up, cold water. Slowly, he stood up after tucking a particularly plush pillow (alliteration yippeeee) under his head, and shuffled off to the kitchen. Dazai didn’t say anything about no tap water, and since their fridge filter currently needed to be replaced, he’s have to settle for such and some crushed icecubes.

And now all that was left was to get some pain medicine, and he’d be good to go and wait until Ryuunosuke woke up. Which, to his credit, was apparently right that second. God, he nearly jumped out of his own skin at the sudden call from the bedroom.

‘Nakajima ! Where are you? Did you do this?’

‘Coming, love! Give me a moment! I’ll be there in just a second!’

Never mind the medication right now, he needed to see if his darling was alright! He rushed back to the dimly lit space, very nearly early, and the keyword there is “NEARLY” dripping the glass of water in lieu of hugging the mafioso. He’s definitely be getting a scolding later for not making Atsushi aware of his “episodes.”

‘Oh, my head… how long was I out? Oh shit, did I scare you? Dammit, I’m sorry, I didn’t think think it was that concerning compared to everything else…’

The white haired boy must have looked considerably annoyed to have his fiancé actually apologizing and attempting to explain himself, which was seldom an occurrence unless one of them was severely wounded, or if he got too close during a panic attack. Well, of course he should be sorry! He scared the living daylights out the poor guy!

‘It’s alright, Ryuu. You don’t need to feel bad, but seriously. Don’t hide medical things from me, or anyone, for that matter. Yeah?’

‘…yes, weretiger. Do we have any Tylenol or something? For my—‘

‘For your head? Yeah, Dazai-San told be to get ibuprofen for you. Let’s get you fixed up, and then we can finish dinner and watch a movie. How does that sound?’

‘…it sounds… nice.’
