Work Text:
It’s barely dawn, but fans are energetic and screaming. Jeongin is on stage, shooting for Music Core. It’s his first week promoting his long-awaited third album as a soloist. He has done this for years, but this comeback is different. It’s his first comeback after getting married to the love of his life, Felix.
Felix is a famous, talented makeup artist and game streamer (although his skills are questionable in the latter). Jeongin and Felix first met each other at a photoshoot. The company hired Felix for the concept photos of his first album. Jeongin fell in love at first sight and did not waste his time. He asked Felix on a date after the first day of shooting, and as they say, the rest is history.
Jeongin and Felix opened up about their relationship after they got engaged. The fans supported their relationship. They love how cute they are together, and while they don't necessarily show affection in public, the occasional lovestagram posts always drive fans crazy.
This comeback is their first official public appearance after tying the knot, and Jeongin is elated. Felix is here with him. He has made it his mission to take care of his husband’s makeup. Jeongin protested at first because, well, music show pre-recordings are at ungodly hours. But Felix, his beloved mischievous husband, always gets what he wants. He knows how to persuade Jeongin. What Felix says, Jeongin does. So here he is, on stage, ready to shoot the performance of his title track, Hallucination, in front of his fans. Jeongin sees Felix cheering for him and mouthing “Fighting, baby!” from the sidelines, and he can't help but smile.
--
The first take goes well. It is only one of the few angles they need to take this morning, so they move on to the next, the close-up shoot. However, before they start, Jeongin needs a touchup.
When the producer says “Cut!”, Felix knows this is his time to shine. He takes it as his cue to walk to the stage. Jeongin sees him from afar and smiles. It feels like the world belongs to them and nobody else matters. Felix is now standing in front of Jeongin, a makeup pouch and tissues in his hands. Jeongin, being Felix’s devoted husband, takes the pouch off of Felix’s hands before Felix even asks.
“Hi, husband”, said Felix, smiling and wiping off Jeongin’s sweat slowly with tissues.
“Hi, baby”, Jeongin says. He can’t help but mirror his ray-of-sunshine husband.
Jeongin can only see Felix at this moment, and so, he grabs Felix’s waist. He doesn’t even realize he has done it. This unconscious move caught the fans’ attention, which resulted in them squealing. The excited fans bring them back to reality and remind them of where they are, right at the center of the stage.
Jeongin smiles shyly at his fans, but Felix pretends nothing happened. He is still focusing on dabbing sweat and oils on his husband’s face. Jeongin and the people in the front row can tell he is turning red though. Felix is used to getting attention from Jeongin’s and his fans, but this is a different setting. They are in public, for God’s sake, and what Jeongin is doing feels… intimate.
Jeongin sees Felix's flushed face. He is fighting the urge to kiss him to make him blush more. Before Jeongin can do anything, Felix warns him.
“Don’t.”
Jeongin grins and teasingly says, “I didn’t do anything?”
“Yeah, right.”, he scoffs. “I know that look. You are not slick, mister.”
Jeongin, who is still holding Felix’s waist, starts caressing his husband and giggles.
Felix is done with the tissues and is now holding Jeongin’s jaw. He tries to keep Jeongin still to powder his face. He thought Jeongin would take this as a sign to stop. He should have known better. Jeongin doesn’t move his head, not even an inch, but he does move his hand. He teases Felix by moving his hand from Felix’s waist to his back. Felix flushes even more. The contrast of his blonde hair makes him look as red as an apple, and Jeongin loves it.
“Jeongin,” Felix whines, holding Jeongin’s jaw even harder.
“Yes, baby?” Jeongin asks. Felix sighs and pouts. Jeongin knows he is not annoyed. Felix loves these small displays of affection. It feels like Jeongin is claiming him in public.
Once he is done with the powder, Felix digs inside his makeup pouch in Jeongin’s hand to find the lipstick he put on his husband before the performance. Once Felix spots it, he uncaps the tube and applies it to his husband’s lips attentively. Felix can feel Jeongin’s eyes on him, especially his lips. He knows he is blushing. He can feel his face getting warmer, but still pretends like it doesn’t bother him.
Felix cradles Jeongin’s face in both of his hands to inspect the makeup. “Beautiful!” Felix says fondly. Jeongin almost moves his head to kiss Felix, but Felix lets go of his husband’s face before it happens. He takes his makeup pouch from Jeongin and walks toward the backstage area. Jeongin trails him.
“Felix,” Jeongin calls him.
“Jeongin, why are you backstage? Do you need anything?” Felix asks, surprised.
“You forgot something.”
“Oh?” Felix checks his pouch and pockets, but he can’t find anything missing. When Felix lifts his head, Jeongin surprises him by giving him a soft kiss on the lips.
“You forgot my good luck kiss,” Jeongin grins and then jogs to the stage. Felix is still standing where he is, stunned. He can’t believe Jeongin just did that.
Felix turns crimson. It is just a peck compared to their usual, more private kisses, but they are surrounded by the show’s production team. Felix feels like a teenager who just had his first kiss. He can hear his surroundings and the fan chant, but they all sound so far away. Felix can only see his husband on stage, singing and dancing to a song about him.
--
The shoot ends around 7. Jeongin and Felix are in the car, on their way home. They have plans to do some house chores before going back for the live broadcast. Jeongin’s manager is driving them.
The drive is quiet. Jeongin is catching up on his emails while Felix is looking at the road. Not long after they enter the highway, Jeongin feels Felix’s head on his shoulder. He doesn’t have to check to see that his husband is asleep. Slowly, trying not to wake up Felix, Jeongin moves his arm around his husband. Jeongin gently kisses Felix’s head and strokes his hair, sending Felix deeper into dreamland.
