Lucy was sitting next to a tense Tim, he'd pulled into the parking lot of an abandoned mall a few minutes ago.
She stared at Him while he was on the phone, watching his face change in a way she'd never seen before.
He hung up the phone and threw it into the cupholder, his sudden movement making Lucy jump.
"I have to jump by my house and pick up my dog." He said, but he never looked her in the eye.
"Okay, but, sir, if you don't mind me asking, why?' she said, hesitating with every word.
"My girlfriend is trying to take him for herself. We got him while we were together, now we're fighting for him."
"Oh, I'm sorry." She said, this time she felt genuinely bad for him.
He pulled out and drove to his house, they didn't speak a word, they didn't have to, with Tim's mood it would probably end in an argument.
He parked the car outside and smacked the wheel when he saw inside the house, Tessa was there, sitting on the couch with her lawyer.
Tim unbuckled his seat belt and threw the door open, rage radiating off of his body.
Lucy also got out, even though he hadn't told her too, but he would end up getting fired for assault and attempted murder if she didn't come.
"Who said get out, boot?" He spat, turning his anger at her.
"No-one, but if you go in there alone you're going to let your anger take over and Tessa will win your dog if they see you can't control your temper." She said calmly, although she was terrified internally.
"Fine." His voice softened but his eyes didn't, he took his key out of his pocket and jammed it into the door.
He stepped inside and Tessa gave him a nasty smirk, her lawyer sitting next to her a smug expression on his face.
Lucy heard what sounded like scratching coming from the kitchen, but it was kojo running up to her.
He jumped on top of her, his paws resting on her chest and he tried to lick her face, he was so excited, and it seemed like he loved her.
"Hey doggie!" She giggled, doggie as a substitute for his name since Tim never told her.
"Kojo, down." Tim said and pointed to the floor, kojo whined and sat next to Lucy, he started to nuzzle Lucy's leg while Tim walked over to the couch.
"Look! He already found a new bi-!" She exclaimed, then realised her mistake "sorry, girlfriend." She murmered, her top lip curling.
"She's not my girlfriend, she's my rookie and she's never even met kojo." He said flatly, a bit dumbfounded by Tessa's accusation.
Tessa rolled her eyes and muttered something again, watching kojo nuzzle and trying to jump up on Lucy.
"Anyway, now I should get kojo as I took care of him the most, and I bought most of the dog food and toys." Tessa started, glaring at Lucy, who was trying to calm kojo down.
"I bought him, and the only reason you took care of him was so that I could work, and you never even took care of him properly." Tim explained, her lawyer taking notes, nodding along to what they were saying.
They were talking it out, well shouting at this point, Tessa had riled up Tim and herself.
"Oh my god! Just give me the damn dog Tim! It's not like it's going to miss you!" Tessa screamed.
"You watched him claw and whine at the door after I left!" Tim argued back.
All while they were yelling back and forth, kojo was practically slow dancing with Lucy, he'd jumped on top of her and rested his paws on her chest, he licked her face and.
Lucy was trying to get him down off her, she grabbed his paws gently but he would just jump back up and put them back where they were.
'god, kojo, what is your deal with me?" Lucy muttered while kojo was jumping up to try and lick her face again.
"Don't touch my dog!" Tessa shrieked when she saw Lucy gently grab kojo's paws off her chest.
Lucy looked at her, and Kojo whined and rubbed his head against Lucy's hand.
Finally the Lawyer left, leaving with the words.
"We'll have another meeting next week, for now the dog stays with Tim."
Tessa's face was contorted with rage when he said that.
Tessa still sat on the couch, her fists curled up into balls, resting on her lap.
Tim was grabbing the leash and collar, he went upstairs while Lucy stayed with kojo.
Tessa stood up and stormed over to Lucy.
"Look, I don't know what you did to make kojo crazy over you, but you will stay away from him."
Lucy gave her a confused expression, she looked down at kojo, who barked in return.
"Am I clear!?" Tessa yelled.
"He's not under your supervision right now, so no, you're not clear." Lucy said, watching Tessa get even angrier.
Then, Tessa raised her hand and slapped Lucy across the face.
Lucy cried out, she stumbled back and kojo barked at Tessa, he bared his teeth and snarled.
She touched her cheek and hissed, she took her hand away and her finger had blood on it.
Tessa stood there, trembling, regret painted her face, she was holding a bloodied pair of keys.
Tears threatened to fall out of Lucy's eyes, she fought them back.
Tim ran down the stairs, holding the leash, his expression went from panicked and confused to angry.
"Tessa! What did you do." He demanded, his eyes flicking between the bloodied keys in Tessa's hand and the deep cut that was leaking blood on Lucy's cheek.
"She, she- she hit kojo." Tessa exclaimed, pointing at kojo, who jumped forward and barked at her.
"It looks like you hit her." Tim said, he shoved past Tessa and inspected Lucy's cheek.
"The lighting isn't good enough." He sighed, he put her leash on kojo and left, Lucy following close behind.
Once at the shop, kojo jumped into the backseat while Tim aided Lucy.
He grabbed her chin gently and tilted her head up, he looked at cut and sucked in a breath.
"That's looks deep." He cringed, while rummaging for antibacterial wipes.
He opened one and pressed it to Lucy's cheek, she let out a hiss of pain, he wiped it down and found a cloth.
"Hold that to it and I'll drive your o the hospital." He said, while getting into the car, Lucy walked over to her side and got in.
They got to the hospital and Lucy sat down on the bed, a nurse walked in, she had brunette hair with some grey hairs, green eyes and freckles.
"Hello, I'm nurse Silvia Watson, and I'll be treating your wounds, officer chen." Silica said, smiling.
She put some blue gloves on and inspected the cut.
"Looks deep, about 2 inches deep, cleaned out." Silica stated, while Lucy suffered silently while her cut was being poked and proded.
"What caused this officer Chen?" Silvia asked, taking her now slightly bloodied gloves off.
"A slap with a pair of keys." She said, though she felt she sounded stupid while saying it.
Silvia nodded, then looked concerned.
"Were the keys rusted?" She asked, biting her lip.
"I'm..not sure, I dont know." Lucy said, panic setting in.
"It's okay dear, I'll just sanitise it and stitch it up." Silvia smiled and Lucy gave a faint smile back.
It hurt like a bitch while Silvia stitched it, Lucy was fighting back cries of pain and tears, she probably sounded possessed.
"Right, there we go!" Silvia exclaimed, standing up and putting her tools down.
"Thanks." Lucy said and smiled, she stood up and walked outside, where Tim was standing, with Kojo.
"How did you get him in here? Did you stare them down." She asked jokingly.
"I pretended he was a police dog.' Tim shrugged and pointed to the harness on kojo, it said "police" and "LAPD" in bold white letters.
Lucy giggled and they walked out back to her shop.

The doorbell rang.
Zoe ran up to it, giggling while kojo ran faster her, excited for the new visitor.
"Zoe! Don't open the door! Wait for me!" Lucy yelled, and ran into the living room, she picked Zoe up and patted kojo on the head.
Lucy opened the door, to none other than Tessa.
Tessa looked at Zoe, taken aback, the at kojo and her face changed to crestfallen.
"I thought this was Tim's house." Tessa said, bending down to pet Kojo.
"It is." Lucy said, while Zoe was chewing on she fingers.
"Then why are you here." She spat, reaching out to pat kojo.
"Because I live here too, so does his daughter." Lucy said triumphantly.
Kojo barked at Tessa when she touched him and stood Infront of Lucy and Zoe protectivly.
"Daughter? But you were his rookie." Tessa whined.
"Believe it or not things change." Lucy said, and grabbed Zoe's arm gently and her fingers slid out of her mouth.
Tim came around the corner, he was unimpressed when he saw Tessa, Tessa's face lit up when she saw his.
Tim walked over and took Zoe, then Tessa's face dropped.
"Oh, so you do have a daughter." She said, choking back tears.
"Yes?" He said, trying to find Tessa's point.
"I'll go now." Tessa sighed and walked back to her car.
Lucy looked at Tim and smiled, kojo yipped and Zoe giggled, reaching for kojo.
Tim set Zoe down and she ran off back to her tea party with kojo.
"I'll beat you to the barbeque." Lucy said.
"Sure you will.' Tim said.
They bolted for it, laughing down the halls Nd out the back garden.
They got there at the same time, so they would both be making dinner.
"Can you get the burgers and I'll get the sauce?" Tim said, with a sarcastic plead in his voice.
"Yea, sure." Lucy said and rolled her eyes sarcastically in return.
Tim reached out her held her face, then they kissed.
Zoe ran out with kojo, she'd managed to squeeze a tutu on him and she was holding a fairy wand and squealing.
"Turn! Kojo! Turn!" She shrieked, and giggled while kojo turned in a circle, his eyes following the wand.
Lucy and Tim looked at Zoe playing with kojo, and they knew, they'd won in life.
