Work Text:
Blue had liked Yellow for a long time. He never feared to confess that to Yellow, since he was sure Yellow wouldn’t just end their friendship that way like many others do. The only reason Blue didn’t yet was because he didn’t know how he should confess.
He tried doing so in multiple ways, but each way he ended up scraping it just because it wasn’t good enough.
The first idea he had was to write it on a cake maybe, since sweets were always a good way to confess. But he ended up just covering the yellow cake with blue icing after Red suddenly popped up behind him, which messed up the writing.
The second idea he had was to confess via a bouquet of flowers he planted himself and design them in a way that would show his feelings. But he ended up quitting midway because of the amount of different flowers he wanted to include, each with different meanings.
Heck Blue even tried making a love potion once, but then he realized that would only make Yellow fall in love with him forcefully, not help him confess. He wanted Yellow’s genuine love, not one that would wear off as soon as the potion stopped taking effect.
So what other way can Blue confess?
“Why don’t you just confess straight on?” Second asked when Blue asked for his advice. “I don’t think Yellow would reject you.”
“But I want it to be special, Orange,” Blue explained.
Second thought for a bit. “Well I can draw whatever you want for you, though I’m not sure how to confess to someone myself. After all, I’m not the one who has a lover.” Blue groaned. He knew what Second wanted to recommend him to do. Talk to Green, the only one of them who actually has a date.
“I can’t tell Green this, Orange. He would definitely tease me and Yellow non stop for this.”
Second shrugged. “Well who else has a lover?’
Blue thought for a bit. Who dated before other than Green and Purple(Blue never asked for Purple’s advice since despite how kind Purple normally is, he can also be equally teasing)?
“King orange!” Blue sat up abruptly, which caused Second to jump slightly. “He did have a wife before, right?”
Second grimaced. “But…his wife did pass away. It would be a bit sensitive to-” Before Second finished Blue was already out the door, ready to head to the outernet.

“King Orange?” Blue knocked on the older stick figure’s door, excitement bubbling through him. If King Orange had good recipes to share, he must have other good advice to share, right?
The door opened up, and sure enough Blue was faced with the mango colored stick figure.
“Blue? Do you need anything?”
“Yes!” Blue quieted down a little when he realized just how high his voice had gone from all the anticipation. “I need your advice, Mr. Mango.”
“Uh, how about you step in first. Just water okay with you?”
Blue nodded, and he waited patiently as Mango came out with two cups of water in his hands. He handed one to Blue, who kept on changing his hold on the cup, fidgeting with excitement.
“So what did you want my advice on?”
Blue blushed when he realized he hadn’t prepared what he wanted to say yet. “So…I wanted your advice on how to confess to someone you love.” Blue took a sip of the ice cold water, calming his nerves.
“Yellow?” Blue resisted the urge to spit the water out when Mango successfully guessed his crush. “Sorry, I wasn’t supposed to say that, wasn’t I?”
“No it’s fine.”
“Oh okay.” Despite Blue’s reassurance, Mango still waited to make sure Blue wouldn’t have any intense reaction before continuing. “I would say to just confess in a way that makes you both comfortable.”
Easier said than done. “But what way will that be? Just confessing?”
Mango thought for a bit before rephrasing his previous advice. “What I meant was to do it in a field you are familiar and comfortable with.”
“But Mr. Mango, I tried doing that multiple times before, but all of it just didn’t seem right.”
“hm…Well how about confessing in the form of Yellow—” Seeing Blue’s expression, King Orange changed his wording. “-Or whatever lover this is—’s favorite subject? Confessing in the field of something they’re interested in.”
“So like Redstone?”
“Yes, that will do.” Mango agreed. Blue thought for a bit. That didn’t sound bad, and Blue did know a good amount of Redstone engineering from Yellow.
“Thank you Mr. Mango! I’ll try doing that.” Blue thanked Mango before leaving.
King Orange sighed. How much of a coincidence that the two of them came asking the exact same question on the same day?

“Yellow!”
Said stick figure looked up and it took all of Blue’s self control to not turn tomato red that instant.
“I have something to show you,” Blue continued, averting his gaze so he doesn’t have to lock eyes with Yellow.
“Lead the way then,” Yellow smiled, as he approached Blue, and again Blue had to restrain the urge to blush. The other nodded before heading to where he kept the redstone machine.
Yellow was obviously interested when he saw what Blue built.
“I thought you weren’t interested in Redstone?”
“Thought I’d play with it a bit,” Blue said as he went to grab the handle. Yellow nodded to him, signaling to him to pull the handle. Blue did and-
A series of lights started appearing on the blocks shown until they finally ended as a heart shape. “Tada! Did you like it?” Blue turned to Yellow, and his heart sank when the other didn’t smile back.
Oh no. Was it because the program wasn’t detailed and complicated enough? Did he mess up the engineering in some way? Did Yellow….not like him back? But even then Yellow wouldn’t look almost angry. What did Blue do wrong?
“Dang it! You did it first.” A shade of pink dusted Yellow’s cheeks as he paced around. Blue looked at his friend confused.
“What do you mean, Yellow-”
“Here,” Yellow pulled out a box, the outside wrapped by multiple flowers. Blue took it, and he was aware of a nice fragrant smell. It strangely reminded him of nether warts. He opened the box to find nine chocolates. At once Blue realized what Yellow meant, and embraced the other stick figure, the box of chocolates still in his hand.
“We had the same idea?” Blue laughed when the two finally pulled apart, similar pink shades on their faces.
“Both went to King Orange for advice?” Yellow guessed. Blue nodded, a wide smile on his face.
“Di-did you like the gift though?” Yellow asked tentatively as Blue popped one of the chocolates into his mouth. A little bit too sweet, but Blue didn’t bother to tell Yellow about that, instead responding with a “I love it Yellow. I love you.”
Then he kissed Yellow. Right sweetness this time.
“I put too much sugar,” Yellow realized when the two pulled apart.
Blue shrugged. “It was good for a first attempt though.” He raised an eyebrow when Yellow scratched his head awkwardly.
“That was actually about my third attempt-” Blue’s eyes widened before laughing.
“I think I’ll make the food instead later on,” Blue said as Yellow linked the two’s hands together. Blue then took a closer look at the flowers on the box. Tulips, Carnations, Orchids, Lily, the classic love flowers, though there was another flower that caught Blue’s attention. Blue picked a white flower out of the bunch and held it out to Yellow.
“What?” Yellow asked with a confused expression as he examined the flower.
“You don’t know what this flower means, don’t you, Yellow?”
“No…” Yellow admitted as Blue handed it to him.
“It’s Baby’s-breath.” Blue watched with amusement as Yellow’s eyes widened.
“That’s not what I meant-” he began but was paused midway by Blue kissing him again.
“I know,” he said as he put the flower into Yellow’s hair. “I don’t mind anyway. It’s a cute flower. Just like you.”
