Just Confess! (Trust me, Second)

Summary:

Green would like to say he’s a good friend. And it’s because he’s a good observant friend, he noticed a change in Second.

Or Green helps Second confess

Notes:

I tried two times before this to make a good confession 💀
Also get ready for Green being a drama queen and worrying more than Second(even tho he’s not the one confessing)
By the way, Green/Purple is going to be mentioned in here, so just a heads up

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Green would like to say he’s a good friend. He’d spend time with his friends and would agree and encourage them on whatever they focus on, and wouldn’t nag them about anything. Besides his time as an influencer, he didn’t have any other major fall outs with his friends, and he made sure to spend more time with them after that.

And it’s because he’s a good observant friend, he noticed a change in Second. Second was probably Green’s closest friend out of their whole group, and it wasn’t hard to notice how Second’s behavior changed recently. He became more active and tense, almost as if he was anticipating something. And Green was sure that wasn’t due to his new powers.

More like because of his new friend, who’s visits had gotten more and more frequent.

Green had never thought Second would ever fall in love, just because he had always been so clueless on the subject, showing no interest in it unless one of his friends needed help on the subject.

Green smirked to himself as he saw his friend greet the black hollow head this morning. So how should he help his friend in confessing?

“Hey Second,” Green greeted when Second came back from animating. “How’s work?”

Second sat down next to Green, an eyebrow raised at his friend. “You never ask unless you want something from me. What is it this time?”

“Second….I don’t really need you to confirm this since I’m confident at this point but…do you like Chosen?”

“Of course I do,” Second said without hesitation and embarrassment. That wasn’t right. Green knew Second was never really one to deny something, but this fast? And without any embarrassment or shyness? Even Green couldn’t do that about Purple, though only before he confessed. Of course he could now. Agreeing you like your lover is only right.

Green clarified. “I meant in a romantic way.”

There was the blush he expected. So Second only never registered Green would ask it in a romantic way, Green thought with a smile as he watched his friend fidget.

“Green, what are you planning?” Second asked instead, attempting to distract Green from the previous question.

“Help you confess that’s what.” The blush only got more red despite Second’s best efforts to tone it down.

Second frowned. “I don’t need help confessing, Green.”

“Then why didn’t you do it yet?”

Second suddenly found the ground more interesting to look at. That’s what Green thought.

“Worry not, Second. I—as such a good friend—will help you in your confession.”

“How?” Second looked up.

Green thought for a bit. He hasn't actually thought of the whole process yet. The standard dating thing definitely won’t work since it’s Chosen they’re talking about. So what would work best?
Just confessing.

Green didn’t have the heart to tell Second that though. He was supposed to come here and help, but sadly the solution only required him to help boost Second’s confidence.

“Okay Second…I got some good news and some bad news. Which one first-”

“Bad news.”

Dangit. Green should have just said I’m going to say the good news first, since now the good would be very weak compared. Oh well, here goes nothing.
“The best way to confess to Chosen is actually just simply going up to him and saying it. Nothing fancy or add on would help you form a better impression.”
Second didn’t look disappointed though. He seemed to have already reached the conclusion before. “Good news?”

“Uh I was going to say at least that means we don’t have to do anything extra?”
Second sighed before standing up. “It’s fine, Green. I think I can manage.” he patted his friend’s shoulder before going out.

“But when are you going to confess?” Green asked as Second jumped out of the window. Second grimaced.

“As soon as possible, probably. It’s better to get this out of the way right?” Second offered his friend a weak smile before going off to animate again.

“You got this!” Green called after for good measure.

“I know.” Well at least Second didn’t change to some degree. He still wouldn’t fuss over a confession that Green was sure anyone else(sadly including himself) would fuss over and take a billion years to do.

Green can somewhat feel Second’s heart sink when Chosen arrived that very evening. Green glanced at his friend as if saying “you’re going to go?” Second nodded before going to greet Chosen like he always does.

Green felt the anxiety he felt when he first confessed to Purple again as he watched Second ask to talk to Chosen. He felt the irrational fear that the other would unfriend them for this, even though it was just a confession.

“What’s up?” Red came around, thankfully ending Green’s worried thoughts. Seeing Chosen, Red waved happily, beaming when the other waved back. He then turned back to Green, who was still watching the hollow heads intently.

“Hello? Earth to Green?”
“Oh shush Green. Second’s about to confess.”
“He is?!” Green gave Red a shush sign, quieting the other down. Then he gave Red a surprised look when he realized something. “You know about Second’s crush?”

“Yeah. It’s not very hard to notice. I was about to go help him when Yellow told me that you probably got it in the bag.”
“Yellow knew too?” Green ignored the guilt seeping in, since he did not get it in the bag. He really didn’t help much, and the conversation he had with Second only really lasted five minutes.

“Yep. He and Blue both knew.”
Green nodded before turning back to the hollow heads. To his confusion, Second was already heading his way, a smile on his face.

“What happened?” Green asked, feeling rather dumb as soon as the words left his mouth.

“You didn’t pay attention?” Red asked his friend. Green shook his head.

“I was talking to you, remember?”
“Yeah but…anyway I’m just going to tell you. Second and Chosen kissed.”
“WHAT. I missed that?” Red burst into laughter at Green’s surprise.

“You didn’t have to lie to Green about that, you know?” Second arrived at this point, and his words only made Green more confused.

“What do you mean? You two didn’t kiss?”
“Of course not. Actually, it was just that he accepted my proposal.”
“And you two didn’t kiss after that?”
Second shook his head. “Were we supposed to?”
Before Green can reply, Red cuts in. “Nope. See Green didn’t even do that.”
Second chuckled. “I thought that was because Purple didn’t accept at first?”
“You two stop!” Green fumed, which only had the two laugh more. He turned back to Second. “I’m happy it worked though. Now, don’t you have a lover to spend time with?”
Second smiled before leaving.

“So…you’re not going to tell him that we were actually together long before this?” Chosen asked when Second arrived next to him.

Second shook his head. “I don’t have the heart to tell Green that after how much he worried.” Chosen smiled before slipping his hand into Second’s.

“Though Green does have a point though,” Second said after a minute.
“On what?”

“How a straight on confession is better. I didn’t really need to draw that whole thing when I confessed the first time. It didn’t make that much of a change.”
“That’s because I already won’t deny you though.”
“And Green was right about another thing.”
Chosen tilted his head in confusion, prompting Second to continue.

“Which is I should have done this.” Before Chosen could reply, Second pressed his lips onto his lover’s gently.

“Hey Green,” Red tugged at his friend’s sleeve.

“What?”

“They’re kissing.”

“Heh, think I’m gonna believe that lie again?” Green said confidently, looking the other way.

Red rolled his eyes. Welp, Green’s own stubbornness, his own loss then, Red thought with a smile as he watched Green walk away tenaciously.

(“I missed it?” Green cried an hour later, when Yellow and Blue told him the same thing.

“I told you so” Red muttered, which earned him a glare from Green)
