Upon late entrance, Haruhi was immediately met with a lecture from the devious Hitachiin twins of the Ouran Academy Host Club.
“Why are you so late, Fujioka?” Hikaru said with a slight annoyance.
“Yeah, no offense Haruhi, but a few ladies were waiting to request you.” Kaoru added in a more gentle tone of voice, resting his hand on her shoulder.
Haruhi sighs, the slightest baggage under her eyes. She rubs her eyes shortly before walking over to an empty table in the club room, relaxing before she knows she has to begin working on getting tea ready for a guest. Kaoru and Hikaru pop their heads up from behind Haruhi’s chair, simultaneously looking at each other before back at her, who was rubbing her temples and mumbling under her breath grumpily.
“Hey, are you okay Haruhi? You seem pretty out of it.” Kaoru said, concerned for her well-being.
“You haven’t been like this since you first earned your eight million yen debt.” Hikaru added, seeming like he didn’t care much, but truly worried about her.
Before Haruhi could answer, Tamaki, at the sound of Haruhi’s name, ran over to the table she was at, sitting across from her.
“Who hurt my daughter.. Names.” Tamaki said threateningly, his eyes dark with promise. He looked like he was actually going to murder someone.
Haruhi sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. She looks at Tamaki, raising an eyebrow.
“For the last time, I’m not your daughter, senpai. And no one hurt me, I’m fine. Now quiet down before someone hears you and I get exposed to the whole school.” Haruhi says with a bit of a death glare to Tamaki.
Tamaki is stunned momentarily, almost turning as pale as paper before sitting huddled up in a corner. Hikaru and Kaoru poke him with a strangely long s t i c c that randomly appeared in the Host Club room, and even Mitsukuni glances over his cake to look at poor Tamaki, offering a small laugh that makes a few girls “Aww!”
Haruhi looks away from Tamaki’s sad excuse of a mock tantrum, rolling her eyes as she gets up to make tea for the guests of the Host Club. The Hitachiin twins notice Haruhi leaving, following her from behind. She instinctively flicks Hikaru’s forehead, pulling Kaoru by the ear. They both let out “Ow!”s and “Ouch!”s, Hikaru stepping back and Kaoru pulling away.
“What’s up with you today, Haruhi?” Kaoru says, finally getting out of her grip and rubbing his ear.
“You’ve never been like this, as far as we know. Sure, you’ve turned down Tamaki a few times..” Hikaru pauses, glancing at his brother.
“.. But you’ve never acted this way with the rest of us.” Kaoru finishes, Hikaru looking back at Haruhi.
“So, what’s going on?” The twins say in unison, leaning in closer with curiosity in their eyes.
Haruhi sighs, looking away with a certain grumpiness. One of annoyance and sleepiness. She looks at the ground before mumbling, now making some tea.
“Just some girl. Threw my stuff in the pond for the second time.. couldn’t sleep last night because she ripped up my homework and Mr. Hinori wouldn’t reprint it.. keeps making me burn myself by tripping me while I’m holding tea.. she’s annoying, that’s all..” Haruhi stated, rolling her eyes before picking up the kettle, which was now piping hot with heated milk tea.
Hikaru and Kaoru simultaneously glance at each other, watching as Haruhi walked off with the tea tray, a soft sigh escaping her lips.
“Seems like another Ayanokoji, huh?”
“Quite an annoyance, if you ask me.”
They both turn to their own guests, catching up with the girls.
The rest of the day goes pretty smoothly despite the brunette’s anger. Although it seemed to make her gain more popularity and attention from both the guests and the host club members themselves. Majority of the customers seemed to want to comfort her from her rough day, being led by whatever excuse she had come up with, whilst others were mildly bothered by her contrast in mood to the other hosts. Finally, after the long and dreadful day, it was the end of the hosting period.

Haruhi sighed, sitting in the comfort of the small Host Club stage’s stairs. Tamaki was playing a calming piece like he did most times when he or other people needed to clear their minds.
“So tell me,” The blonde began, his eyes slowly peeling off the piano keys and refocusing on Haruhi’s soft features. “What is it that troubles you, Haruhi?”
Haruhi sighs, leaning into the serenade of music gracing her ears. Tamaki smirked at the sight, the flow of music coming naturally. Soon, he blocked the music out, focusing solely on Haruhi as she spoke.
“It’s your regular.. that one stalker-like brunette, right? I think she may have something against me. She keeps.. doing things. To piss me off.” Haruhi explains calmly, though it’s not her regular calm. It seems to be tainted with a hint of annoyance.
Tamaki nods in understanding, having known from the start that that girl was nothing but a pretty poison. She was just the same as his first regular, Ayanokoji. He stops mid piece, the keys slowing down to match the tempo of the song. The tune filled Music Room Three, wrapping the atmosphere with a warm hug of notes.
“Mm, that sounds like her. What a shame, such a beautiful woman has to have such a vile heart.” Tamaki says soothingly, the piece descending to its end.
Tamaki looked at Haruhi, his heart briefly picking up its beats before he attempted to calm his nerves back down. He then instead smiled at the keys, the song coming to a full stop.
“Care to share a duet with yours truly? I won’t disappoint, I swear.” Tamaki said soothingly, his bright blue eyes still boring into the glass-like keys.
“Well, I might. Hate to break it to you, Senpai, but I never learned how to play.” Haruhi said, looking back at him with a mildly stiff awkward laugh.
“Well, that just won’t do! I suppose I have some time to teach you myself.. Here, how about it?”
He then looks over at her, coercing her to sit on the bench beside him. She sighs before standing up, letting him scoot further to the side before sitting down beside him. The old wood slightly creaked under the extra weight, but it proved it would hold. Tamaki leaned his upper body weight towards the piano, looking into Haruhi’s eyes nonchalantly. Haruhi sighed softly, staring down at her feet. Her hands ghosted over the delicate keys of the grand piano.
Tamaki then slowly rested his hands over hers, Haruhi looking up at him on instinct. She wasn’t used to much physical touch, but was slowly getting used to it after being in the Host Club (surprisingly more so from the other members than her guests). She let him move her hands for her, watching as he guided them over the white and black keys. Soon, another equally soothing melody filled the air. Though short, it was a beautiful melancholy melody. He looked back down at her, his smile soft yet warm.
Once she got used to the patterns and the sounds each note made, she began to be able to play the song on her own, watching Tamaki’s hands move away from her own to play alongside her.
“Now you’re getting into it, Fujioka!”
Haruhi seemed mildly soothed by the calming lull of the duet, and at the same time, Tamaki’s gaze shifted from excited and cheerful to something.. much softer. After a good moment of the soft melody taking its own musical sways, the piece descends into its end, and Tamaki glances down at her. Slowly, he pulled Haruhi just a bit closer, then, giving her every chance to pull away, pressed a gentle kiss into her silky hair. She seemed too tired to object.
“I hope things get better, princess.”
“... Thanks, Senpai..”
