Chapter Text
Suho’s family has a bit of tradition where they would stay at his grandma’s house when Summer was just around the corner. His grandma lives at a small cozy house near a beach, basically a perfect place for a summer vacation for some. And ever since Suho was a kid, the first thing he did when he got there was run to the beach and play in its shallow waters, And even when he was already in his teens, he still did that. Because maybe all Suho needed after a long year of school was just a summer break where he could eat as much watermelon to his heart's content and run away the beach and get sand in his feet, that was all he needed for Summer.
The wind hits Suho’s face as he stepped out of the car and stood in front of his grandma’s house, the thing hadn't changed at all even after years of people living in it, the same white, light blue and yellow paint on the outside of the house, the same garden his grandma used to plant flowers and tomatoes, everything was the same and it brings a sense of comfort to Suho knowing that. Though, Suho wasn't here to just stand outside his grandma’s house all day and do nothing, no. He had done this ever since he was a kid, so what will make him stop doing it? So it didn't take long for Suho to shake off his shoes and ran off to the beach, like he always did.
His sister, Yeongi, was carrying a basket full of stuff from the city as a gift for their grandma, saw him take off and instantly yelled at him to help their parents get all the stuff out of the car, which Suho ignored. Not that he didn't care for his parents or sister and such, but it has been such a long time since he visited the beach, and sure, any other beach could do the same, but the beach near his grandma's house was just, different. It was hard to explain in a sense, as a beach was a beach, but to Suho, it just felt different.
The beach there felt comforting, in the morning when the air felt a little cold and when Suho would run off to the beach, it felt as if a blanket was placed on him as soon as he stepped onto the grainy sand beneath him, and suddenly, the air didn't feel as cold anymore, and in the afternoon when the air felt hot, that was when he and Yeongi usually spent their time in the beach with his parents and grandma, and the air that felt hot before Suho stepped onto the beach had suddenly turned a bit more windy and more chilly in a comforting sense, and when he asked his family about it, they didn't seem to notice it.
And when the skies turned dark, the sounds of Cicadas going on and the gentle sounds of the waves in the ocean, When it was night, close to midnight even, when Suho couldn't sleep at all, he would slip out of his bed and sneak out of the house to go to beach, and he would just sit there in the sand, sometimes getting closer to the waves and let the water soak his legs and pants. Those nights where he would sit there and do nothing, those were the nights where he felt the most comfort on the beach. The sounds of the waves sound as if somebody was whispering a lullaby to his ears softly, The cold air surrounding him suddenly felt like he was engulfed in a hug, and the water that soaked his pants didn't feel cold, it felt like a bath in some sense. It was calming, the only sounds there were just the gentleness of the waves, the ringing in his ears and the sound of him breathing. The nights where Suho couldn't get an ounce of sleep were always cured by sitting on the beach alone.
By then on, Suho was already feeling the grains of sand slipping though his toes and instantly got close to the waves, he stood there for a moment, taking in the image of the ocean. The sea was blue, bluer than ever even, and the waves were coming in and soaked his feet a little, the sky was in a shade of light blue and the sun was shining ever so brightly as it did in the summer, like it always did, Suho was even sweating a bit in the car even when he wore a simple graphic t-shirt and jeans. The wind breezed past him and hit his face with a cold yet comforting breeze, and he can't help but release a sigh of relief when he just stood there, not doing anything other than looking out to the distance and looking out to the endless sea. He felt calm, yet he felt another presence near him, but Suho thought he was just feeling things, because Yeongi would smack him or yell at him by now if she was here, his parents would call out for him by now and his grandma would walk up next to him, but nobody did that so he ignored the feeling of another presence.
If Suho was being completely honest, he was definitely planning on running into the water, and was about to set the plan in motion but was stopped by his sister’s yelling, but something else also stopped him, maybe it was from the lack of sleep, but he can't help but notice a figure beneath the water. And sure, Suho was a bit far from the water to tell what the figure is or he even saw anything that wasn't his imagination, but he swore on Yeongi’s life that he saw something there.
“YAH! SUHO!!! DON'T YOU DARE GET IN THE WATER!” She yelled as she ran towards him at full speed, Suho didn't even register what Yeongi said before she immediately smacked the back of Suho’s head.
“Ow! Yeongi what the fuck!” Suho rubbed the back of his head where Yeongi smacked him, it was embarrassing to say the least, that he was caught before he could set his plans in motion, but maybe it was for the better as Suho suddenly remembered that his parents would take them and his grandma to a supermarket before anything, and his mother had specifically said to him to not run into the water before they had gone to the supermarket, as certain incidents had happened beforehand.
“Didn’t mom already tell you to not run into the water before we go to the supermarket? All i did was save you from a scolding from mom and all i get is ‘What the fuck’? fucking bastard!” Yeongi said before kicking his butt straight on. Suho grumbled under his breath and rubbed his butt a bit.
“Yeah yeah..i just remembered..” He said before turning his back to the ocean, strangely enough, it felt as if he was turning his back on his partner to go to some supermarket, and he also instantly forgot about the said figure he saw under the shallow but deep enough water.
“Good, because I don't want to explain to mom on why your pea sized brain couldn't remember she told you to not get wet.” She said before walking away, leaving Suho behind to process her words, and when he did fully process them, he instantly got offended and chased after Yeongi, who only ran faster when she noticed Suho chasing after her. And by then, he forgot about the presence he felt earlier and just thought of it as Yeongi, and by then did he forgot about the figure he saw under the water.
And as the sounds of Yeongi’s and Suho’s yelling and laughter began to grow distant, a head suddenly emerged from beneath the water, a head full of brown hair and the only thing visible from it was its eyes, the creature stared at the two who were starting to grow more tiny by the second with its wide and glossy eyes. He stared at them before they fully disappeared and by then did it submerged back to the waters and go elsewhere.

Suho’s time at the supermarket was nice, but he would prefer to be at the beach by then. The supermarket wasn't packed, only a few people were there, families and friend groups scattered around the supermarket. The air conditioning in there was blasting which made the heat a bit more bearable, but that still doesn't change the fact that his whole time there, all he could think about is going back to the beach.
And when they did eventually went back to his grandma's house, he helped a bit at cooking before he finally bolted out of there and went straight to the beach, he already told his mother that he would get in the water and would just hang out there for a bit and she nodded along as she kept cutting up vegetables. He wore the same t-shirt, though he changed his jeans into swimming shorts and wore scandals there. And maybe Suho was being just a tad bit dramatic but even though they had only spent a few hours in the supermarket to buy some ingredients, to Suho, it felt as if a whole day passed by. The sky had a change in its tone and the sun wasn't as bright as it was before, but it was still a perfect condition for Suho to take a dip in the water. Air breezed past him as he ran towards the beach in a fast yet relaxed way, there were a few birds flying the sky and he saw some hanging around by trees as he ran, the sounds of crickets were also present, and as he finally reached the beach, sand pooling under his sandals, he can’t help but look at Awe at the sight in front of him.
As said before, The sky didn't change much of its colors but the blues in the sky were slightly darker than before and made somewhat of a gradient between blues and the sun didn't radiate heat and wasn't as hot and had a bit of orange glow to it even. It looked beautiful to Suho, even before the sight in front of him, the beach had always looked beautiful. But with the view in front right, he can't help but have his mouth slightly agape.
He walked slowly to the waters, dragging his legs across the sand like a snail, He wanted to savor the view he was seeing right there and there, because every moment needed to be savored at least once, because who knows when you're going to see or experience it, right?
and when he was at a good distance between the water, he instantly stopped and froze for a while before taking off fully and running to the water and eventually jumping in the more deeper parts. He stayed underwater for a while before going back up to breath, it felt refreshing and it felt comfortable. He was basically so excited that he basically forgot to shed his shirt off, but oh well, not that it bothered him. He sighed a sigh of relief and relaxed as he swam on his back, legs and hands moving ever so often to not let himself sink and accidently swallow water, and for a moment, he let himself fully relax. Forgetting every stressful thought and problems he had and just let himself float in the water and just relax. But it seems as though the universe had different plans as suddenly, he felt something breeze past him underwater and he instantly opened his eyes and looked down, now putting his legs on the sand. But he didn't see anything, and he was just about to ignore it and brush it off as his mind playing tricks on him, but suddenly, he felt something again and it brushed past his legs and his eyes instantly snapped down and that's when he saw a silhouette swimming.
Suho was fully about to accept his fate at dying in the ocean by some sea creature, because by how the silhouette swam, it swam fast, way faster than how any human should swim, so yes, Suho was ready to accept his fate and die at the hands of a sea witch, but those thoughts were never cut off as suddenly, the creature went up and gasped for air. Suho closed his eyes tightly before slowly opening them, and what he saw was a..guy? Suho was fully expected to see a creature with wrinkly skin, fins and webbed hands but instead, all he saw was a guy with a head full of dry brown hair, weird as he was basically just below the water a second ago, his eyes went to his lips that were colored pink and were plush, and then Suho looked at his eyes.
And oh, beautiful eyes were they. The guy —creature?— had big brown glossy eyes, they looked as if they could light up the night sky yet they looked dark and full of emotions. The type of eyes people would get hypnotized by, the type of eyes people would want to look at every day, the type of eyes people would fall in love with, the type of eyes that communicate emotions better than words, the type of eyes I would fall for.
Silence took over them, no words being said at all yet Suho could feel the heavy gaze and the guy's emotions in a way, they were so bright yet so dark. The silence stretched between them and Suho can’t help but feel a bit awkward, The guy was basically shining his eyes at him and observing him while he blinked slowly.
God..i could fall into the void of his eyes if he kept staring at him like this.
“uhh…hi?”
