Chapter Text

A decade after the retirement of the last and original members of the Justice League.

New Schnee Manor, Outer Mantle

An old lady who's seemingly in her 50s to 60s, her long white with tibs of her hair being faded red, wrinkles that showed her age and currently in her pajamas and a wedding ring on her right hand as a lady of her age would usually have.

She struggles to open her eyes, as she is missing her husband, where did he go this time? Slowly she gets up and stretches her old bones, and the old woman wanders the halls of Schnee manor. Ah, she remembers her old teammates from Beacon and in the League, how she and him left everything and tried their best at something of a retirement thing going on.

"Good morning, Mistress Rose-Schnee." a familiar voice calls out. Ruby then turns to the source to see an old balding man with small bits of brown in his hair who's outfitted with a casual Schnee worker uniform, and a cane to help him walk. He also looks to be in his 80s and 90s as he approaches the lady of the manor.

"Klein…you've known me for decades now. Call me Ruby like usual." Ruby Rose-Schnee smiled up at her butler, no, her friend who's been there for her other former co-workers throughout the years.

"Very well, Ruby. Why are you wandering down the halls this early in the middle of the night?" Klein wondered gently.

"Whitley didn't wake up beside me, I'm getting worried…" Ruby sighed, this was the third night this week, Klein silently agreed as he looked away from the older retired huntress.

"Well…maybe you should check the old hideout, you might find him there." Klein offered, Ruby could only smile in gratitude. Klein was always there with Whitley when his uncle and aunt died infront of him, when he came back from his journey around the world, when he got married, when he raised their children, when he comforted the two when their children were leaving for different universities and Huntsman Academies.

It's a wonder if he's still with them after all these years.

"Thank you, Klein. When should we expect you to take that vacation in Nanda Parbat Whitley offered you?" Ruby cheekily asked.

"Hoho, what makes you so certain I'm not in retirement now?" Klein jokingly said.

"Hehe, true, true. I'll see you at breakfast then." Ruby said as she left the still smiling Klein alone, but the moment she turned and walked, that's the moment when Klein's smile turned frown.

"I just pray to the Table Breaker that it's not what I believe it is." Klein sombrely wondered.

"Whitley? Are you there?" She calls out to her husband, and unlocks the secret passage behind the old grandfather clock Whit's uncle used to own back during Nicholas Schnee's era.

The clock then moved sideways to an entrance into the Batcave, she took the makeshift elevator down, she walked down the edge where she was welcomed by the sounds of the local bats that lived in this part of the cave, screeching at the sound that disturbed their slumber.

But Ruby didn't flinch nor was scared away, she was used to it by this time whenever she came down here on missions or moving some stuff away. She could still remember the first time she discovered this place by accident, she nearly thought Batman was coming to steal her blood or something.

She was glad she did meet Whitley first before she met Batman, happily married with three children and coming soon, a grandson who have gone their separate ways working in different parts of the world. Some as Huntsman or Huntresses, some as regular workers, and rarely ever as Vigilantes.

Ruby still wonders if they'll ever visit them again, It makes an old woman think a lot. There is much to do as it was still the sixth decade after the Great War ended.

She then sees her husband on the edge of what used to house the old Batcomputer Whitley used for his operations. All of the lights were on and he was just standing there with the moonlight gazing over him, what was he doing she wondered?

"Whitley?" Ruby called out, her old husband then cranked his head tensely to her like he saw an approaching. He looked like he saw something he wasn't supposed to see, what happened?

"Are you okay?" She asked as she reached out, and cupped his cheek. Whitley tensed again but reached his hand to hers, relishing in relieving comfort. This still causes the old huntress to worry even more.

Whitley Warden Schnee, a man looking around his 70s or 80s, short yet messy white hair with light blue eyes as with the Schnee family traits usually are. What was supposed to be a beard there similar to his grandfather, was a clean shave

"Yeah…I'm perfect now that you're here." The sound of older Whitley's deep voice and old said somberly as he then pulled her into a hug. His wife more than returned it but that doesn't mean she believed him.

"Are you sure? You looked like you saw something…" Ruby said worryingly, he then looked retracted from the hug and looked at her with a confident look and nodded.

"Sure....c'mon, let's go back to bed." Ruby then kissed him as he then dragged him by the hand. "...also, when did you shave? I was kinda liking the whole beard thing you have going on." she asked.

Whitley's eyes widened as he touched his beard area where it's supposed to be. 'He didn't notice? Does that mean he was subconsciously doing it?' Ruby thought, what's going on? Maybe she'll drill him later, it's the middle of the night.

"Alright you old fart, let's go back to bed, mama needs her beauty sleep like usual." The retired Huntress then slung her arm around his as they both walked towards the make-shift-elevator of the Batcave.

"Beauty sleep? I still remembered what a big snorer you were when we first started." Whitley smiles cheekily as this causes his wife to pout lightly.

"I got better didn't I?" Ruby flatly stated. This caused the old Schnee to grimace.

"Well…" Whitley hesitated, this then made Ruby smack him by the shoulder a bunch of times as it caused him a hearty laugh. What the Rose-Schnee didn't know was that Whitley at the back of his mind was wondering if he really did walk away.

He has a wife, children who share their eyes, and soon to be a grandchild coming soon with the first and yet…and yet…something inside was calling him…Whitley was happy but what was missing?

He couldn't tell…maybe a good night's sleep is what's best…

Hopefully…

Notes:

- To be honest, this was my first time making a romantic related chapter. Sorry about that

- This is my iteration of The Dark Knight Returns AU of The Shadow of a Schnee that takes place a few decades after the Great War. So a lot of things are different if you notice.

Chapter 2: The Shadow Returns; Jaune and Whitley

Chapter Text

Schnee estate Ranch, Outer Mantle

Walking along the snow a blond man with blue as well as a muscular and daunting build, he appears slightly aged with a few wrinkles. His hair has grown longer, with some strands having faded to white, and is tied into a ponytail with a torn piece of red fabric.

He's outfitted with a flannel button up shirt, blue jeans, a black winter coat and dark blue gloves.

The man walks along the cold snow covered forests of the Solitas territories.'What does he have to say now?' The man wondered as saw he was finally approaching his destination.

Further ahead he sees his old friend and former co-worker, Whitley Schnee, who happens to be dressed in more winter garb and appears to be tending to the Frost wolves.

Frost wolves, as they are, native to the Northern Vale, some of the Vytal Islands, and Mistral. They not only make great mounts but also good hunting dogs and sometimes large pets as some were taken to Solitas before Mantle was formed by colonists and frontiersmen in order to trek the known and unknown. Some of the clans have labelled them symbols of their culture though to this day.

Whitley as he is was busy scratching behind one of the Frost wolf's ears after cleaning her with a brush. Said wolf seemed to appreciate she had her tongue out and a happy grin. With a final pet, he moved on to attend the Frost wolf next to her.

But not before getting an appreciative lick to Whit's hand, the old Schnee could only giggle.

"Finally decide to visit after all these years, Jaune?" The old Schnee spoke while continuingly brushing the dust covered big wolf.

Jaune could only look away in guilt, it was true, he hasn't seen his old friend since the Justice League disbanded decades ago. Whitley then continued to brush the Frost wolf's other side and spoke.

"And by the way, you nearly cost me an extra hour of work. I may be healthy but I'm still very much old." The Billionaire old man flatly said as he then looked at the Kryptonian.

"So you don't mind if we get down to business then?" With encouragement, Jaune pressed on.

"Sorry to be the one to say this but you need to go back into retirement, Ruby as well. A lot of people are upset right now." The adopted Arc stated.

"Mhm." Whitley hummed calmly as he finished brushing the two frost wolves. Soon he began to guide them back by the leash to their kennels.

"Why are you like this? Even when the UKR and the PTA came after us as you just stood there staring." Jaune slightly angered, followed Whitley as they began walking. "By the time we tried to explain ourselves, you made things worse on us by acting like the criminal they want you to be."

"We are criminals, Jaune, we always have been." Whitley giggled slightly at the remark, how many times have they done this dance?

"So by technicality, you're still one too. Only difference is that you have more than one boss who tells you what you have to do." Whitley tried to bite back the sarcasm in him but old habits die hard as they say, he then unbuckled the leashes and left the two wolves to join their family.

"And you answer to no one except yourself, correct?" Jaune said as he narrowed his eyes, Whitley had to held back a glare as he didn't want Arc to see it just to not prove him any more right than he is.

The old Schnee then closed the kennel garage door. Jaune knew him for years by now, and then continued.

"Y'know, this reminds me of when we had this talk a decade ago, when everyone else agreed only you didn't go along with the deal we made." Jaune then began to slouch his back towards the nearby wall.

At the corner of his eye he sees and nearby Snow Owl circling the area, looking for prey

"M'gann, Maia and Arslan left the planet, Neptune and Pyrrha went back to their people, Cyborg and the others enjoying life in retirement as well as-". Jaune continued to explain an event that happened years ago.

"What about Ruby and Tristan Jr? Did they get to choose?" Whitley crossed his arms and asked as the Arc of Steel then the Snow owl snatched a nearby squirrel, Jaune could only wince in guilt, he knew the answer to that.

"Believe me when I tell you that I didn't want that to happen…" Jaune uttered.

"He's a bit torn up about it right?" The Schnee Billionaire questioned. "And what about Pyrrha? I can't imagine the look on her face when you went back to this dangerous life of ours and not live quietly like a normal family-".

"I wanted it too, but Tristan, he made it necessary. Like-"

"Like I'm about to?" Whitley cut him off and stared Jaune right dead in the eye. Both parties could be silent, Jaune didn't want to focus on this subject as it brought a lot of bad memories.

"Whitley, do you remember why you retired?" Jaune asked sincerely while crossing his arms, trying to ease the tension he accidentally created for himself.

" 'Never did forget." The old Schnee said with a somber look in his eyes, arms down on his side, that he remembered everything, for Ruby, for his life with their family they built together.

Leslie, Flynt, Penny, Ozpin, Oscar and so many more have lost their lives to this occupation. Whitley never forgot why as those deaths were his fault, his responsibility.

Jaune took a deep breath and sighed for a bit before gaining composure.

"Look…either you or Ruby shut the whole thing down or the higher ups are gonna send me to stop you...if that happens-" The Alien Arc was then cut off again.

"WHEN that happens, may the best man win." Whitley then looked at him determination, the cold winds of Solitas blows for while longer

If Jaune knew anything about his former co-worker and old friend after all these years that's still the same, it's that when Whit says he wants to do something, it's not just a statement but a promise that he will somehow. Jaune understood too well but he still wanted to argue his case.

But then he heard a crying noise in the distance. Something only someone of his hearing can hear.

"I've gotta go, we'll finish this later." Jaune Arc then zoomed past Whitley, leaving a trail of cold snow and wind that nearly blew a nearby Patch flag post with it and alerted some of the frost Wolves to bark in worry.

"Oh hurry…" Whitley muttered as he failed to not sarcastically comment. Pretty sure he heard that

Ta-da🎉
- Whaddya think of this small snippet? Was gonna kickstart a few idea but I felt doing one just because I felt like it.

- This is just a sneak peak of what happened to this version of the League through out this timeline as a parallel to TDR like usual.

- Special thanks for RedReaper for giving this AU a name.

- The Ice Wolves are a reference to Final Fantasy 16's Torgal(adorable puppy!) as a refernce to Monty Oum(RIP) who used to choreograph a lot FF character moves in Dead Fantasy. Dunno what the Wolves have to do with it but I wanted to reference it anyways.

Song; Teen Titans theme by Puffy AmiYumi(Short OP)

~Instrumental plays~

A black screen exploded into a small streaking spray paint highlights of Blue, Red and White reaching high into the atmosphere followed by another rainbow of from Orange to Green to an almost spectrum of rainbow colours far in the distance of the first three. A zoom in on White as it is a shadow of a hulking Bat like creature with white pupiless eyes staring at the audience.

The creature leaped out of the shadows to reveal a young adolescent Batman leaping into a high kick

When there's trouble, you know who to caaaaaalll~

Batman’s figure dropped down to reveal big colourful letters that form half the full sentence

Teen Titans!

The screens pans to reveal coloured letters of ‘Teen Titans’ switching from the original colours to White and Blue.

From their tower, they can see it aaaaaaaaaalll~

Zooming in as the screen went sideways to the Hall of Justice surrounded by buildings of a no name city. The screen panes over the side as the highlights of Red and White showing silhouettes of not only Batman but also another hero with a cloak going their separate ways.

Teen Titans!

Up until the Red and White highlights rejoined to form said letters. The screen zooms in on the Red letter so much that there’s only Red appearing at the screen.

When there's evil on the attack

The background cracks and explodes a hole, revealing Wonder Woman and Shazam bursting through and sticking a superhero landing.

You can rest knowing they got your back

She removes her helm to reveal Pyrrha Nikos smiling gently while Shazam was surrounded by lighting to transform back into Oscar Pines sharing the same smile. They both, almost sheepishly, waved a hand at the audience hiding their awkwardness.

'Cause when the world needs heroes on patrooooooollllll~

The screen slides over to a blond reporter’s and a young redhead woman’s back into the same familiar blue highlight, he looks back in surprise as he uses both his hands to remove his button up shirt with the S symbol on his chest and speeds in blinding speeds disappearing from the camera while the woman shifted her form to reveal Miss Martian pulling a reassuring smile. The same reporter appeared again as Superman sharing the same smile.

Teen Titans GO!

This time, the letters were in a green colour of shading. The screen slides over and zooms in again to said highlight, as a female Green Lantern wearing a Green lantern corp eyepatch, she was pointing her ring in a fit of rage as she was blasting her power ring in rapid fire.

With their superpowers they unite

The screen shifts again sliding over to Green Lantern flying in the air with the signature lantern pose as looks over to the side to see the audience. She gets her ring ready for another blast but her figuring flies higher, disappearing from the screen.

Teen Titans!

The screen shifts as the letters are now a shade of Orange and Silver.

Never met a villain that they liiiiiiiiiiked~

The silhouette of two figures sharing a split screen. The shade lights to reveal Ruby and Neptune, the screen then panes over to his entire body as they are both wearing their iconic Aquaman and Flash suit. The background slides over as Flash speeded up a past by the screen leaving a trail of silver and yellow lighting while Neptune leaped with his trident into a leaping stab.

Teen Titans!

Showing the same letters but with Orange and White this time

They've got the bad guys on the run

The Screen zooms in on one of the white letters to reveal Atlas and Mantle city apart from each other snowing with Batman in between with a superhero landing.

They never stop till the job is done

The Background slides over again of a Bat silhouette, then lighting struck to reveal upon closer inspection the fury on Batman’s face as he gritted his teeth

'Cause when the world is losin' all controooooollll~

The screen slides over to reveal the spray painted highlights extending to the side to reveal the silhouettes of the past heroes shown, reaching their destination to reveal

Teen Titans GO!

The familiar letters but this time, all the letters are mostly grey texts. The background zooms in on said text to reveal Justice League members one by one from Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Shazam and the Flash with each with the familiar white text next to it detailing their real names and superhero names

One, two, three, four, GO!

The Justice League silhouettes appeared one by one but in their own shade of colours. The silhouettes disappeared to reveal the supers of Remnant standing iconically with Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman mostly at the front.

Teen Titans!

Notes:

- Just had a thought that the DCRWBY's canon JL would technically be the Teen Titans most of the times since most of them are basically growing young men and women.

- This is something how imagined their theme song would be if they had one. Don't get wrong, most of the JLU series is mostly an orchestra so there's not much creative brain fluids flowing right now.

- Hope you like this! Cuz I had fun getting creative with symbolisms and all that

Chapter Text

“You wanna know my life’s story? Okay, sounds complicated but give me a second.” A blond man wearing a brown winter jacket, dark blue jeans and a red flannel undershirt.

“Ehem, um, start from the beginning right? Sounds easy enough, well for starters, my name is Jaune Arc and I’m turning, um, 38 this year. I am married to Yang Xiao Long-Arc and we have two kids starting high school right about now.” He explained.

“Oh, this isn’t a biography, sorry…let’s try this again.” The middle aged Jaune said as coughed and took a deep breath.

“Vivid memory? I see, well let me see…umm…” Jaune thought about it for a moment before his mind clicked in place like a lightbulb.

Play; Superman & Lois - Theme

My most vivid memories, are of the days when my life changed.

Entering past the atmosphere, a space pod jettison towards the skies at high speeds before it landed outside of Radian town.

I remember coming to this world, feeling the sun on my face for the first time.

The Hunter couples, one is a woman in her 30s, she is a shapely athletic woman standing 5' 8" (though this is variable) with long blonde hair in a ponytail or bun, aquamarine eyes, pale skin and is outfitted with a green dress, white labcoat, black square glasses, comfortable black shoes, black stockings. Green dress with black boots and black stockings.

Her husband, a 7' 5" tall blond, muscular man with short hair, a well-trimmed beard, and a shallow scar across his right cheek, and gray eyes. He wears a white and black plate armor vest over a black shirt, black pants, armored white/black boots and gauntlets, and a long dark blue duster coat.

They are Nicholas and Isabel. They saw this and went to investigate, the extraterrestrial pod opened to reveal a crying baby. They looked at each in contemplation before agreeing to take the child in as their own.

“Get ‘em!”

Fast forward through the years as a young Jaune was being chased by several of the Arc sisters around the Arc farm in an attempt to dress him up, or other girly tasks.

One of the older sisters began carrying him around on their back, they did everything together from playing at the playground, playing pretend, tag as well arguing over who gets the remote in the family TV. They were there for his saddest moments to his happiest.

Nick and Isabel smiled brightly as they held each other in their arms at witnessing this beautiful and almost chaotic moment in their lives.

My parents said it best as I was their greatest surprise,

A 15 year old Jaune talking to Katy Sith with a bright blush on both their faces under the night sky. Him saving a little girl from the explosion as he shielded her with his body.

Isabel and Nick showing their son the pod they found him in. With a tearful frown he hugged them both in warm embrace

And boy…there sure were lots of em’

Jaune, wearing his mid winter clothes, was then seen helping out Radian in setting up a Harvest festival for the community with him on a ladder, setting up a sign that said ‘RADIAN HARVEST FESTIVAL’. He waved to both his friends and family from school.

I remember loving Radian, the people, the community. How the small things were the big things and I was happy but it was, never enough for me I guess…

Things take a turn as scenes were shown of Isabel fighting Jaune over his decision about doing work as something else that’s not a doctor.

A rainy night, Katy and him were talking about going their separate ways, both were teary eyed as they balled their eyes out in a tearful sadness, both still clung together for a bit before they made it official to be off on their own.

Life isn’t perfect, and sometimes it drifts people apart. But eventually I followed my own path and moved to Vale city, to be become who I was meant to be.

"We're coming to you live as Roman Torchwick engages in another incredible nighttime robbery of Dust-His tenth in just the last five weeks! What could have changed the Gentleman Thief from debonair delinquent to artless rip off artist?"

That did sound better in her head, she would admit, but she rolled with it like the professional she was.

"This is but one of multiple raids Mister Torchwick has engaged in-Another was foiled last week by a local Huntress-in-training, which no doubt still stings," Lisa continued, "But it seems that in response Mister Torchwick has upped the ante-We can see his gang members are now armed with high powered rifles and..."

Mike zoomed in. Lisa's eyes widened. One of the henchmen held up a rocket launcher right at their Bullhead!

"Rocket launchers, possibly Atlesian make-!"

Lisa could make out Roman yelling at the guy, even reaching out to him... But the bowl hat wearing master thief was too slow, and the henchman fired.

"MOVE!" Lisa screamed at the pilot. Joe was an old hand at this, and gunned the thrusters, but the rocket streaked for them. Lisa and Mike braced. They managed to move... But the rocket slammed into the tail of the Bullhead and exploded, tossing them around.

Lisa's harness snapped, and she fell. She screamed in shock, watching the Bullhead overhead. She saw Mike reach out in desperation, even though she was too far away. She tumbled and saw the street rush up towards her. She closed her eyes. She thought of her mother, her father, God...

Strong arms took hold of her, and she stopped falling. She opened her eyes and looked up. She saw two eyes of the purest blue staring back into hers, over a kind smile.

"You all right Miss?" Asked in a firm, confident voice. Lisa gaped and looked the young man up and down. He was tall, probably at least six feet. He was blond, his hair neatly oiled with a spitcurl over his forehead. He was muscular as well, as his black and blue suit demonstrated. A big golden "S" was emblazoned on his chest, red boots were on his feet, and a red cape flapped behind him.

Naturally the most important thing she noticed... Was that, he was hovering in mid-air.

"I..."

"Don't worry, I've got you," the man said, flying upwards towards the flailing Bullhead. He took hold of the hull of the craft, and it stopped spinning out of control.

"Me?! Wh-Who's got you?!" Lisa sputtered. The young man smiled gently as he slowly maneuvered himself and his burden over to a nearby rooftop. He set them down as gently as a feather. He pulled away from the Bullhead as Joe and Mike stared at him in shock. He set Lisa down on shaky legs, and held her for a moment to make sure she was steady.

"You all right, Miss Lavender?" He asked. Lisa took several deep breaths, and managed a slow nod.

"Y-Yes..."

"I hope this won't put you off flying," he joked mildly, "Statistically speaking, it is the safest way to travel."

Lisa managed another muted nod. Roman Torchwick's own Bullhead shot up from between the buildings and flew off. The blond man looked over his shoulder at it, then back to Lisa. He smiled and gently patted her shoulder.

"Excuse me, my job's not done yet," he said, "See you around."

He then turned and flew off like a shot after the fleeing Bullhead. Lisa shakily held up a hand and waved, still dazed.

"S-See you around..."

After a moment, her calm returned and she whipped back to her crew.

"Did we get that?! Please, tell me we got that?!"

Looks like she'd found a new story after all...

But my most vivid memory of all, was the day I met her.

“Hmm…” On an evening like today, Jaune, a reporter of the Daily Planet for over a few months, is currently out shopping for groceries in a local city mall. From what he can tell, he can’t make a decision.

On the one hand, it would be nice to have someone other than himself be in the know of this secret thing he's doing. With a sigh he carried on.

“Oof-!” Jaune bumped into someone and quickly fake acted as he tripped and accidentally dropped his shopping bag in his hand.

“Oh sorry about that, I wasn't looking where I was-” The reporter stopped mid sentence as he saw In front of him a sight to behold.

All he sees now is a fair-skinned young woman almost about his age with long, wavy, golden blonde hair that fades to pale gold at the tips, and lilac eyes. She currently has a casual yellow tank top as an undershirt with a red and black jacket, torn jeans and some combat boots and also holds a shopping bag in her hand.

She looks at him curiously and pulls a grin as she kneels to gather the dropped groceries.

“It's cool, if you don't watch your step I think you might just fall for me!” The young woman quipped as she formed her hands into finger guns making clicking sounds with a wink.

For Jaune, he was too occupied with his thoughts that he entered a stupor for a moment as the only thing in his head.

Is she a famous Super Model or something!?

“Hey, don't tell your seeing stars. Cuz you keep on ‘gazing’ up at me! Seriously though, ‘you okay?” She asked worryingly after trying to lighten up the conversation.

“I-uh-you-I mean, I’m Arc. JAUNE Arc.” Jaune snapped out his stupor, and replied quickly trying not to act so awkward as he raised his hand. The woman simply tried to hold back a laugh as she went forward and shook it.

“Yang. Xiao-Long. Honestly, I’ve never met a Jaune before. Congrats, you're my first!” The young lady named “Yang” replied casually and almost in a flirty way.

“Well, you’re the first Yang I’ve ever met so we’re kinda even?” The nervous reporter said as he picked up the groceries on the floor with Yang dropping her half of his groceries in the shopping bag. It was at the time he noticed something he hasn’t yet.

“Are you a Huntress?” Jaune asked as they both got back up from kneeling, hearing this she puffed her chest in pride and replied.

“Eeyup! You’re looking at Beacon’s finest here, bar none. Except maybe Pyrrha but that doesn’t matter too much.” She replied as he walked beside her, and from then on the Rookie Huntress and the Reporter talked away as they made it to the cash register.

Fast forward from there, we fell in love overtime.

Jaune now floats above the fields of the Arc Farmhouse as he took of his glasses to show his secret identity as the ‘Superman’ of Vale.

Yang, mouth agape and eyes widened at the scene as she was speechless at that moment. All happening while the sun begins to set on Radian town.

I told Yang who I really was, where and I came from.

Superman kneeling down, showing a boxed ring, to a tearful Yang now in her winter garb as she closed her mouth and looked at him with teary eyes as she gathered the courage to say the words.

Yes.

She smiled and nodded, wiping her tears away as Superman reflected that smile and nod. They both embraced each other as Yang basically jumped at him right in front of the Fortress of Solitude.

The Kryptonian then flies Yang in her arms while locking lips above the clouds in a sunset, it is at this moment where they are at their happiest they’ve ever been.

On their wedding day, Jaune wore a fancy tuxedo dragging a beautifully dressed Yang in wedding gown hand in hand as the bouquet of magnolia flowers she’s holding as the family and friends of both sides took pictures while having a laugh and a good time on the plaza of Radian Town.

The both of them turned to see Yang throwing the boquet up in the air for the crowd.

Yang, lifting her now husband up using her bare strength as the grown huntress is now carrying her partner across the Plaza where the newlyweds and the crowd lets out a hearty laugh at the scene unfolding.

The crowd was made up of friends, families, teammates, co-workers, superiors, and other folk now having goodbye, taking pictures, cheering, laughing, and celebrating in their own little ways.

The people ranged from Teams RWB, NPR, CFVY, SSSN, ABRN, FNKI, and BRNZ.

The families consist of Winter and Whitley Schnee, Whitley who is gently smiling while holding his partner, Ruby’s hand, her and Yang’s father, a tearful Taiyang and their uncle Qrow Branwen, who is trying not to shed tears, could only smile at the heart warming scene as Ruby held her dad’s side in an embrace while held his shoulder and Tai returning them both in a warm hug.

The Arc family of Nick, Isabel and some of her relatives, her grandmother, Arturia and Shirou, Isabel’s siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces alike. The Sarkara family consists of just two royals.

Arjun Sarkara is a man at 6'2" handsome, swarthy, with blue eyes and black hair with a light beard while having some white in his temples. He wears a formal and stylish blue/gold coat jacket over white pants.

His wife, Saia Sarkara stands at 5"6' beautiful dark-skinned curvy woman with red eyes and dark red hair. She wears a white and red robes over a long white dress, leather belt, a hood, a red jewel on her forehead, white gloves and red boots.

Together with Nick and Isabel they formed Team AARN "Amaranthe".

People like Isabel simply blew kisses at the scene while others such as Nick fired their firearms in the air. All came and cheered loudly in celebration of the moment.

The couple of newlyweds now settling on their red pickup truck with the back of it covered in with fake white flowers with an artistic text that says “Just ❤️ Married”. The truck then drove away to their honeymoon destination.

We married, got our first place together…

Tai at the dinner table on his birthday, he unboxed his present to see at the dinner table to see.

He took of the cover, eyes widened, the present was a pregnancy test pen but the surprise wasn't that, it's what was in the measuring part that had two pink lines in the white box

Positive.

He looked at both his daughter and son-in-law as they were basically holding each other, and looked back at the pen. Tears welled up as got up from his seat to hug Yang, and friendly but almost threatening noogies to Jaune.

We weren’t sure at the time as Yang and I wanted it to be a surprise, and by God they sure were.

“Tickle fight!”

“Wohoo!”

Summer was easy, always happy, always smiling.

The sounds of childhood memories as a 6 year-old blond girl with short flowing hair, dark blue eyes and another similar aged boy with jet black hair and grey eyes, wrestling their parents in an attempt to dominate, but both of them underestimated one thing about them.

They’re Jaune Arc and Yang Xiao Long-Arc. Laughter consumed the room nonetheless as she’s basically trying to out-tickle her two folks

Summer Arc was then seen with her mother while Yang was busy doing basic katas outside the Xiao Long household. The young Xiao Long Arc was trying her best in following her movements to the letter.

Her father in the distance was cooking them dinner in preparation from when they returned. Jaune silently smiled as he used his free hand to take a photo of the cute and wholesome scene with his Scroll. The father of Summer then turned to his other kid who was basically drawing on the floor with his paper and crayons.

Things with Nicholas were more… challenging.

Nicholas Arc, a young pre-schooler, was throwing a tantrum, unfolding the neatly folded blankets, throwing the pillows overboard the bed as he yelled in anger.

“Nicky? Stop it.” Jaune called out next to Yang as he began to walk towards their son.

A year ago, he was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder.

10 years later, he’s seen with Jaune holding Nicky in a sobbing mess with Summer rushing over to find her brother and father in an unfortunate yet sad scene and yet both could only stare up at them, unknowing of what to do.

The years go by quickly as many news reports of Superman either fighting off his rogues gallery or saving the day all across the world.

For his fights he was seen combating the Intergang and Thaddeus Killgrave, zooming a large battle mech that belonged to Mechano-man, enduring hits from Elemental Skull while protecting the civilians in Mistral city, wrestling a mutant Beringel Grimm the size of a Leviathan in Argus city, arresting Toyman in Lutetia city, cooling down Dust man’s  and duking it outside the walls of Vacuo city with Lobo.

With the hollow TV on, Jaune was then seen cooking a meal in the kitchen of their home.

And suddenly here I am, living in Vale, raising two teenagers, married to THE legendary Huntress in the world...

Both Nicholas and Summer seated at the dining table, focused on eating noodles in a box. A grown up Yang came over behind her kids to give them a warming hug. Nicky looked at his mother and smiled, while Summie was focusing on finishing her meal.

They looked at her curiously, until Yang began to tickle her and she couldn’t pretend anymore then looked at her mother and gave her a weird peck in cheek with food still in her mouth. The Older Xiao Long-Arc smiled brightly when the two continued focusing on finishing their food.

Trying to make the world safer for the people I love.

“Yeah, things haven’t been easy. Paying as a decent reporter, while also maintaining a superhero persona hasn’t been these past few months.” Jaune said somberly before realizing. “Ah but that doesn’t mean I’m unhappy, sure, life is hard but we don’t have to be millionaires to be happy! Y’know?”

“Yang said we were surviving just fine but I can’t help but worry is all…” He let out a sigh as he continued.

“Anyway, ‘doing good for now. Currently working on a big case for the planet right now and I just received a letter from Mom about the Harvest Festival, y’know how that is?” The Kryptonian said sheepishly, he looked around to realise the time.

“Oh! I am so sorry, this session was supposed to be over like 5 minutes ago!” He apologised, quickly and looked ahead. “You don’t mind? Are you sure? I can still pay you extra if you want I-oh...” Jaune nervously got up but a hand was raised to him.

“Alright, if the matter’s fine then it’s fine. I have to go now, duty calls and all that.” He said he then blurred to the nearby bathroom and came out into his newest upgraded super suit and pulled up a nearby window.

“Thanks, Dinah. Until next session and be sure to tell Whitley to call us one of these days. Yang misses her sister on one of those double dates and all.” With that said Superman flew away leaving a trail of wind behind in the night sky that sent a few of the lighter objects in the apartment house flying.

From there a tanned middle aged woman, with brunette and black hair. She wears a dark leather jacket, a red undershirt and dark leggings, she simply rolled her eyes and shook her head in a smile.

“See ya next session, big blue…” She sighed as Dinah closed her window and curtains, getting ready for bed. Another normal evening, at least she’s helping more people than just superheroes with a crisis on their backs.

Notes:

-It’s based on the opening scene of the Superman and Lois series, specifically this one; https://youtu.be/IzdkVRZV4vc

-You might be wondering a few things? Like, where is the JL? Batman? and all the other heroes? Well, this is an Elseworlds based on the above mentioned series, but they don’t exist per say. At least Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the JL don’t. Not to say then haven’t met Supes but they’re probably just regular peeps that have certain traits that are references to their counterpart

-For the Beringel Grimm, that’s basically comic accurate Titano but an actual man eating monster. For Atomic Skull and Nuclear Man, well, there’s no Uranium, thorium, plutonium or any other transuranic elements. But there are similar ones close to it thanks to, you guessed it, Space Dust! I have no idea how AndrewJTalon gonna write his Arc of Steel story but I’m hoping it will at least mention these two.

-This Dinah isn’t Laurel Lance but Dinah Drake from the Arrowverse series…I know, I like the shows they make despite the general bulk of them falling slightly off.

Mantle Presidency House, Far East Solitas

1910s AMF

The hour is near, it’s the middle of the Great War. The King of Atlas just officially announced that they are now aligned with the Mistral Empire that’s been expanding over the past decades and are currently in civil war with the rest of Solitas.

President Michael is currently signing a few dozen papers at the moment in his current office, thanks to the Former Vice President’s, or shall we say, the Atlas King Richard’s actions. They’ve been forced to the other side of the continent where the Mantle faction began preparing, resisting the King’s rule, even-ning the odds.

“Damn, you Richard…”

The so-called “King” will pay for this as currently he’s getting his affairs in order with Orion, the Emerald King of Vale and Empress Arturia Pendragon of Vytal. But soon, he will don the armour, join the war effort in taking back the Nation he and his people built. Because he is the President of-

*KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!*

Oh yes, that presentation should be happening now. With a cough he adjusted his tie and prepared for them to start. Jody should be coming up here by now, hopeful good news about his request.

“Come in!” President Michael called out. The door then opened to see his secretary Jody holding two briefcases and another individual wearing the signature Mantle uniform most Colonels wear as their formal outfit, he was also carrying something, a film projector? Huh, he assumed Richard held all of them under his Atlas propaganda campaign but thankfully it's proof enough that their efforts were bearing fruit.

“Mr. President. Please, let me formally introduce you to Col. Stephen Trevor of the 3rd Regiment going forward.” Jody stated as she smiled, Col. Trevor put the Film Projector down on a nearby table, and saluted whilst avoiding eye contact in a greeting.

“It’s an honour to finally meet you, Mr. President.” he then let down his saluting arm. “I’ve seen what you could do in that Prototype Power Armour R&D supped up before the King started his, excuse my Gallian, bullshit.” He stood straight, said President raised his dominant hand in a small salute and shifted into a raised hand to him.

“At ease, Colonel. Please, call me Mike behind closed doors” Michael said. With that, Col. Trevor eased himself and went forward with shaking the hand of the President of the Mantle Faction with a matching smile. “I will if you do the same call me Steve,” He jabbed as the three shared a brief chuckle for the moment.

“-with that out of the way we can start now. Mike, please take a seat, Secretary Jody, please get the lights.” Steve requested, Jody then went and turned the lights off. He then turned on the film projector. The Colonel turned on both the projector and the remote control, took a deep breath and steeled himself.

“Alright then here’s the breakdown.” He set the projector to see a slide show of a map detailing the current modern day Remnant with colours of black, white and grey colouring the film. A map of not only Solitas, but also Anima, Sanus and the Dragon continent which has been labelled Grimm Hive.

“You know as well as I do that Mantle has increased the normal percentage number of refugees and immigrants residing from what the Vytal Empire has done to Sanus and yet we let them be anyways. The result was not only the immigrants that were once people of the land bordering Eastern Sanus but also another growing Empire that takes power from the rage of these people.” The projector shifted to Eastern Empire soldiers fighting and pushing the Vytal soldiers back with added fire power.

“And that wasn’t enough as Mistral and Atlas formed an alliance just over a week ago. Our spies have said they’ve been planning to launch a Navy blockade in order to stop our forces from getting to Northern Vale.” The Colonel explained as he glanced at the President with a neutral look, continuing forward.

“Damn…” He muttered under his breath, the projector changed to see the Mistralians putting together many armed missiles, battleships, collecting various artifacts from the mythical era before the Moon-shatter. “They've been digging up lost artifacts, finding more than the standard ways of warfare through rumoured artifacts as a means to make the next Superhuman.” Trevor explained that the projector then showed video footage of 7 individuals with differing powers such as Ice, great strength, telekinetic lifting and so on.

“Rumored ‘Magical’ and ‘Mystical’ ones, I assume. Dear Breaker, unless he’s right.” Michael crossed his arms in thought, they were just rumours but certain people and events came to light that proved otherwise.

“With your Power Armour, you could flip the balance of the Civil War to our favour but you can’t handle both the Mistralians and the Atlesians at the same time. No offence of course.” Colonel Steve added, President Michael merely waved his hand.

“It’s fine, you ain’t wrong. So this is where your “project” comes in, Steve?” Michael asked as his back straightened to see Steve smiling as moved on to the next video.

“I’m glad you asked, let me introduce you to the team.” He said as he played the video showing a chemist of the Mantle R&D department with goggles on applying careful ingredients into a test tube, the chemical inside glowed with the chemist growing a satisfied smile on his face. “Dr. Rex Tyler, known as Hourman. One of the best scientists Mantle has to offer.”

“Officially as of now, he’s developed a chemical called Miraclo to Enhance his speed, strength, everything the human has an hour at a time comparable to the Strongmen Hunters.” The same Dr. Tyler, now drinking the formula, with determined eyes, he then threw away the test tube and went over to lift two Train cars in each arm with the many of the workers watching close by and another researcher taking special notes.

“Then there’s Jack Knight, he’s from one of the many allies who came to the Mantle Faction after the Atlesian King made his mark.” The video shows a town with nearby Vytal as a bank robbery was in progress, Armed men with bows, arrows and swords fighting off a man holding a glowing staff with visibly grey with a black leather winter jacket, a star spangled jumpsuit that goes up to his cowl that covers his head, winter gloves, jungle pants and combat boots. “His father, Ted Knight, developed a sentient staff made up of Gravity Dust that can grant the wielder added strength and flight along with shooting energy beams from the tip. After his Dad’s passing a decade back, Jack uses it mostly for crime fighting though that made the other townsfolk all the more wary of him.”

President Michael pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to hold back a groan. Why? Why couldn’t he just stay out of trouble? Trevor heard and he can’t help but wonder;

“Is everything all right, sir?” He asked in concern. Michael shook his and waved it off, gesturing to keep it going. “Very well, moving on to the next member-”

The video then showed a shoot out in progress nearby one of the Valean cities as mobsters and gangs were going to war with the nearby sheriff and his deputies.

“She’s from the Sanus part of this project. We couldn’t have made it possible if it weren’t for their help funding it.” Then a blur of speed leaving trails of lighting suddenly went around, they found their guns had vanished as the sheriff and the deputies closed in on them.

“Since attaining her supernatural power of Speed, hailing from the nearly extinct Silver-eyed tribe, Summer Rose has been wandering Sanus as a full-time nomad and crime fighter as her motives says she’s willing to help anyone and everyone she can.” Mobs and Gangs have no choice but to put their hands in the air in surrender, the camera closed in on a white cloaked woman wearing a silver winged helmet, robes that have a rose motifs, short pants that reaches her knees and travelling boots, with shining eyes, and most of the criminal’s guns in both hands dropped them to give a greeting salute at the camera.

“Another from the Vale branch, he’s actually a champion of the Vytal Empire. Goes by Silent Knight.” The video then showed a heavily guarded outpost of the Mistral Empire, a nearby guard was hit with something and fell, the guards saw this and attempted to run but a lasso got them and he pulled into the darkness. “They didn’t call him that because he’s the strong silent type.”

“He took down many outposts and one of the most heavily guarded ones in Eastern Sanus by himself, his powers included making miniature copies of different weapons. Mostly Swords as we have strict orders from the Empress to tell you after this presentation.” The Silent Knight stepped into the light and rushed forward into the outpost, five minutes later, the Outpost’s flag switched from Mistralian’s to Valean’s, the Soldiers cheered with the Camera shaking slightly.

“Fine, moving on.” President Michael sighed, the video changed to see a Faunus woman wearing Vacuoan soldier armour as well as a Hawk Helmet holding a large mace in her hand, with Large wings that match her size.

“Kendra Sanders, she’s not actually a Faunus but comes from beyond the sky as well as Ancient Vacuo.” She stands on a mountain cliff in the night sky as Bullheads pass by, the Faunus flies after them and follows behind. “Ancient Vacuo? Aliens and Time travel?” Michael asks curiously, Trevor shrugged as he didn’t fully understand the physics.

“I see now, Lights please.” He said, his secretary heard and turned the lights on as Colonel Trevor stopped the film. “This is only to counter King Richard’s other team as a sort of Special Forces if you will.” The President of Mantle nodded as he silently agreed, Richard has a plan, he knows his power is enough even the odds by himself and that his power armour equalises that.

He’s getting desperate if he’s managing a war on two fronts, it won’t be long now as they need their own team to counter theirs. Guess the tie breaker needs it to be God’s blessing huh? Though there was something he couldn’t help but point out.

“So you’re certain they’d be a good counter to what the Atlas-Mistral alliance are planning?” He wondered.

“I know they are.”

“But who would lead this rag-tag crew?”

“I’ve got someone in mind already” Colonel Trevor grinned ear to ear as someone opened and came in through the door. A tall, beautiful and muscular middle aged woman with long, red hair tied into a fishtail braid with strands of her visible, and green eyes. She wears a Hellenic Tiara with a W engraving, an ancient amazonian armour, and boots with red, blue and gold colour scheme, as well as silver braces with ancient Quitala Nova engravings, a yellow lasso and red cloak with gold trimmings. She stood with each arm and a determined smile on her face

“What you say Mr. President, are you ready to end this war?” The Amazonian asked with a determined tone behind her voice.

Notes:

I wondered what the Justice Society would look like during the Great War in Remnant at one point, It just revolved into this. The Mantle vs Atlas is a Metal Wolf Chaos reference for the people who are googling this.

Chapter 6: Beyond the Shadow

Summary:

Batman Beyond AU for Shadow of a Schnee. Wynn Schnee is pretty clearly the alt for Damian Wayne in this instance.

Chapter Text

Whitley grunted as he sat at the Batcomputer, watching footage of his son move fluidly between each criminal without losing a single beat. His physical prowess was unmistakable. In that Batsuit, black and red, the Schnee saw the most powerful (human) man to ever exist. While the patriarch had an ego, even he could see the writing on the wall.

Cinder had succeeded in creating a being capable of totally surpassing the Bat. Wynn Schnee. Of course, while Cinder created the boy, it was Whitley's efforts that converted a would-be dominator of every lifeform on the planet into the vigilante that stalked the darkness of Mantle and Atlas. The man would like to say that he could take all of the credit, but that would be a lie.

The family he had made it easier. Jaune, his wife, and his son. Whitley's other, adopted kids. The League itself with their interpersonal relationships. The old man sitting at the computer could safely say that Solitas' future was in good hands.

And yet...something felt wrong. Off. It was an instinct that tugged deeper than even Kryptonian science or Godly magic, clawing at the edges of his decaying mind. Some...threat was coming. A monster plaguing his surroundings he could not yet perceive or understand. With a repressed groan, Whitley channeled his will, standing up and smirking as Death's fingers suddenly fled in fear from him. For even it's clutches understood the terror that was Batman.

Touching the screen, the first Batman sighed. "I don't know what's coming. I can't see it. But know this, Wynn. I'll be here to help you through it." With an exhale, the loner moved slowly--Ever so slowly--To the costumes of the Batcave. Each one holding countless memories. A legacy that ran deep red into the very veins of the accursed country he called home. "And if you can't handle it, I can only hope you have the strength to forgive me for what I'll have to do to make sure you survive."

Staring at the transparent glass, Whitley Schnee looked into the eyes of a prototype costume. One never worn by Batman. An impressove feat considering he had worn so many. Armors that could make world ending Gods quake in fear. Cloth that made aliens sweat in horror at the cruel and cold efficiency man can kill if it desired. Capes that...that inspired the planet into taking action against forces that would destroy it.

Jaune, Whitley, and Pyrrha, the first Superheroes, creating a New Dawn that changed the very world. Protecting people, catching criminals, and connecting the people across the globe. Simply by standing for Justice, Vengenance, and Truth respectively.

All those capes, armors, and cloth paled in the face of what stood behind this glass. Not even Jaune and Pyrrha knew about it. They would have tried their best to steal it from him, to make it impossible to wear. They were too good, too kind hearted to understand what needed to be done. That his life was more than a reasonable price to save the world.

Ha. Whitley still remembered when Jaune brought over the Platinum Kryptonite hoping that the Schnee would use it to become as immortal as them. Heroes together, forever. Or if not that, mentors for future Generations, who'd only die in combat instead of rotting away. He could also remember being tempted. Holding that rock in his gloved hand and feeling the neo-fabrics that separated his skin from that constant thrum of power in the mineral.

Godlike power in his hand to take. No, not Godlike--God. The physiology of a Kryptonian, his perfect brain, and access to equipment across space and time? The Batcave and Fortress of Solitude held such marvels and miracles. Mother Boxes, Phantom Zone Projectors, Speed Force Disruptors, etc. It would take a single second, at most, for him to figure out how to have all the League's power at once. To stand above all others.

Infinite power. Infinite possibility. Infinite...responsibility.

And at that thought, Whitley had dropped the stone. Locked it away for emergencies. Jaune and Pyrrha were certain he was worthy. To stand among them. Above them, even. But deep inside, the Schnee's paranoia won out. Because the tragedy of someone like Batman was that he could trust nothing and no one. Not even himself. The choice was much the same when Pyrrha brought her alternative.

The decision was clear, though. No man, especially not him, should have that kind of power. He would die as he was born into the world. Cold, alone, and sickeningly human.

Clearing the fog of his thoughts, Whitley focused on the costume in front of him. Pressing a few buttons, he prepared a new operation in his system. One that would allow for an override in case of an emergency. So that he may don this armor and be a Knight once again. One last time. As the last button was pressed, Whitley turned his head to the incoming presence. It made no noise. Silent and perfectly hidden.

Detected all the same.

"What are you doing, Father?" The question was curt but not impolite. It was simply formal and perfectly spoken, just as he was trained.

"Maintenance. With Klein gone, I have to go about doing it myself. Your timing is perfect, considering I was just finishing up." Whitley lied without even missing a beat, turning around to move towards the Batcomputer. "I'll set up a new training simulation. I know your patrol was lacking for someone of your skill level, so I figure you could use the exercise."

Wynn sniffed and preened at once. Acting above it all and yet delighted to all the same at the praise. "Thank you, Father. I'll handle whatever you prepare for me, without fail."

Whitley stared at the Computer, typing into it's console. "I know you will, Wynn. I know."

WARNING; Descriptions and references of R-rated content such as smoking, swearing and real life problems

2 years after the Close fall of Beacon…

Out in the frontier of Arminus(Germany) there lies a town by the name of Evergreen, there was nothing special about this town other than the fact that famous Human supremacists and old Great War era Atlesians lived here. Not to mention the distance from here to Arminus is not too far.

But in its hospital was someone less that intresting, a young man in his mid 20s, in his hospital sitting up on the bed in while looking somberly in silent judgement and if there were words that would describe him, two would most stand out. Those words being ‘buff’ and ‘fucked up’, or at least that’s what he was currently in right now.

Spearheaded by Col. Caroline Cordovin and Maj. Rick Flag of the Atlas Navy who proposed this TFX to the Kingdom of Atlas in the first place. A unit made up of the most dangerous and efficient killers this planet has ever seen, some from prisons like Atlas Holding’s Blackgate penitentiary, Arkham Asylum, or most notably;

Belle Reve, a prison that’s meant to keep in the most dangerous of Vale’s criminals such as Cinder Fall. Most of them were so dangerous that even Superman or the League had to take matters into their own hands.

Him? He was just in there because he got caught doing Superhero shit because most of them are too busy doing everything else. Right now though, he’s currently hospitalised in his neighbourhood’s local hospital after the failed operation at Corto Maltese and he was shot down.

Chris survived of course but he had to recover his strength before going back to prison. He sighed, he couldn’t help but wonder what was next? Who did he have to kill? Another Major like Flag? If she did…he didn’t think he’d have his heart out for that kind of business, at least, not anymore…

He can’t really process those emotions right now as the Peacock Faunus Doctor was basically giving him a run down on his current state as he stared at an X-Ray version of his body as it showcased his used to be broken ribcage and damaged throat were all fully healed.

The Doctor: You were shot and a building falls on you while your Aura was depleted, and all you have to replace is a clavicle? *flips paper on the clipboard with a sigh*

The Doctor: You’re the luckiest man alive…*writes down the report*

A silent Chris could only stare at it with silence and judgement. She got that right;

He’s one lucky sonfabitch.

Young man: Can I ask you something, Doc?

The Doctor: *giving a quick glancing at her patient curiously before going back to ticking off her clip board* …sure.

Young man: Can you maybe up the contrast a little more to show the definition of my muscles?

The Peacock Faunus stopped writing and looked at him properly, his neutral yet sombre face still frozen there as he was just staring at the X-Ray photo like he just murdered someone.

Which he actually did.

Young man: This makes me look like one of those guys who works out only thinking about ‘bulk’. *breathes as he used up most of his air by stating that* I put a lot of time into small muscle groups and according to this was just…wasted effort…

Was he joking right now? Maybe that damage wasn’t just to his head, the Faunus Doctor wanted to laugh but she just couldn’t as other patience needed her at the moment.

And also because they all told the same joke already.

The Doctor: *sigh* It’s not for your Val-up(Tinder) profile, Chris. You’ve healed well but you’re still gonna have to take it easy. *set the clipboard below as she tries to be straight and gentle with the situation* Try to avoid lifting your right elbow above your shoulder.

Chris: sure…

The Doctor: *She hangs the clipboard on the edge of the hospital bed before addressing another statement* So, as long as you agree to keep up with the physical therapy, *Tries to her pen on her left lab coat pocket* I’m discharging you. *Walks towards the exit*

Huh? Did he hear that right? Did she just say that…

Chris: So I can leave?

The Peacock Faunus Doctor stopped, now by the entrance door and turned towards her recently discharged patient.

The Doctor: *pulls an assuring smile* Go home, enjoy life.

With that she then exits the hospital room with, ‘Chris’ can still hear tapping footsteps and gets more and more distant with each second. He then contemplated that, before turning his head in thought.

There’s no way…there’s just no way! He knows he hasn't finished his sentence yet and he knows that Cordovin, the stuck-up bitch that she is, wouldn’t let him go that easily. Was she setting him up? Yes…yes, that had to be it!

She probably set up a bunch of people to jack his ass when he’s none the wiser. But, he doesn't know that for sure and he can’t just go out and get his shit and dip just yet so that he could get jumped again. That means he needed to ask around…

Mopping the floors, a janitor of the nearby hallway. A middle aged Frog Faunus with his tanned, striped brown and green complexion, short hair, and shaved jaw left only a mustache below his nose. He’s wearing a blue uniform along with a staff pass to signify he works there, long black jeans and loafers.

Currently, he’s cleaning the floor whilst minding his own business. Until Chris looked by as the cleaner was just outside his door, he then signaled.

Chris: Pss! Jamil…*says in a whisper*

The Faunus cleaner noticed and walked to him with his arms in surrender

Jamil: I don’t have any weed on me, man. That was a one ti-

Chris: It's not that, the Doctor said I was free to go…

Jamil: *Shakes head in confusion* Congratulations?

Chris: Jamil, you cool…? *Asks suspiciously*

Jamil: What does that mean?

Chris: *sighs* Dude, can I trust you?

Jamil: Nope.

Chris: ‘Nope’?

Jamil: I-I don’t know you, man.

Chris: *says quickly and quietly* Dude I really need some here-

Jamil: *He interrupted* Don’t trust me, man.

Chris: *Shakes his head in disbelief before raising his voice* We smoked weed together, man. I was in a fucking wheelchair!

Jamil: I can’t pretend that wasn’t a nice moment, but that doesn’t make me trustworthy and I ain’t trustworthy worth shit!

Chris: What?

Jamil: Why do you think I’m mopping floors, bro? I went to A.I.T.(MIT), I don’t like responsibility.

The young man was about to say something but that caught him off guard.

Chris: You went to A.I.T?

Jamil: Oh yeah!

Chris: The fuck are you doing here!?

Jamil: My fucking point man! Why aren’t you listening to me!?

Chris: *raises hand in surrender* Fine, fuck it! Don’t be trustworthy and just let me ask you a question and don’t tell anybody it, okay!?

Jamil: *says calmly* I would never betray a secret.

Chris: *deadpans* That’s the opposite of everything you’ve been saying…

Chris: Truth is, I’m supposed to be in prison.

Jamil; For what?

Chris: Superhero shit.

Jamil: *Chuckles* Hehehe, you’re a superhero?

Chris: Yeah.

Jamil: You’re kinda bulky to be a superhero…

Chris: The fuck you mean, ‘bulky’?

Jamil; Superheroes have a Gymnast body, and they’re ready to go!

Chris: Well I’m ‘ready to go’!

Jamil; *rolls his eyes* What superhero are you?

Chris: Peacemaker.

Jamil: *Cackles*Haha, Get out of here, motherfucker!!!

Chris: *sparks in the eyes* You’re a fan?

Jamil: There’s no superhero called ‘Peacemaker’!

Chris: *offended* Dude I’m fucking famous!

Jamil; Not that famous(apparently), Aquaman? He’s famous

Chris: Fuck Aquaman.

Jamil; No man, don’t say that, why say that?

Chris: *he lists* He bangs chicks, good for him. He bangs dudes, got no problems with that. *says in a serious tone* He starts fucking fish? THAT’S taking a step too far.

Jamil: No…Aquaman fucks fish…?

Chris: Yeah.

Jamil: …

Jamil: I don’t believe it!

Chris: *scoffs* Guy on ‘Roamer(Twitter)’ works for the Aquarium and said 50 Lien he brings him in the back so he can have his way with a squid!

Jamil: *in denial as he swats his arms in the air* I refuse to believe that!

Chris: And I refuse to believe that Addchikadabird87 is lying to me for no reason!

He gestures as a way of telling the Faunus Janitor he won’t be backing down. Jamil shakes his head and moves on to the next subject of the matter.

Jamil: Fine. What were you in prison for?

Chris: INTEGRITY. I made a vow to have peace, no matter how many people or monsters I have to kill to get it.

Jamil; *eyes widened* Oooohhh, ‘PEACEMAKER’!

Chris: *Sparkles return* YAAASSS!!!

Jamil: You’re the RACIST superhero!

Chris: *Sparkles vanish* NOOOOO!!!

Jamil: You only kill animal people, man!!!

Chris: Um, I’ve killed a fair amount of Humans and creatures of the Darkness!

Jamil; The ratio is suspect is all I have to say.

Chris: If somebody’s committing a crime…

Jamil; yes?

Chris: …am I supposed to control how many animal traits they have!?

Jamil: No! But you need to watch Humans as closely as you watch Faunus so you can see more of them committing crimes!!!

Chris: Fine! That’s-that’s a good point...

Jamil: *Visibly nods at the statement*

Chris: …I will trust Humans less in the future and kill a higher percentage of them. Are you satisfied?

Jamil: *says gently in an innocent tone* Yes. Thank you.

Jamil: Now what do you need?

Chris: *breathes easier* Doc said I was free to go, so technically I should be back in prison.

Jamil; *Nods in understanding*

Chris: What I need to know is; On the DLs, is there anybody out there looking for me?

Jamil: Not that I’ve heard of man.

Chris: No cops, Huntsmen, nothing?

Jamil: *shakes head* I ain’t seen no cops.

Chris: I’m thinking…I can just go?

Jamil: *why raises his arms in uncertainty*...why not?

Chris then pulls out his suit from under his hospital bed and begins unpacking the first bag filled with his belongings starting with his iconic toilet seat shaped helmet, and some souvenirs from Corto Maltese. Then the second bag filled with supersuit consisted of his iconic red sleeves shirt, gloves, boots and utility belt with the matching colour of navy blue, and white long pants as most of them are caked blood.

The discharged then placed arranged them all on the bed and patient found himself staring at his symbol, the Dove of peace on the red shirt and was equally covered in blood.

He really is free now? Which meant that he can put on the suit and fight crime once again but this time he wouldn’t get caught. This time, he can make a difference once again and bring peace to this cruel world we call Remnant.

Coming from the side of the hospital counter, he walked with a giant white bag with him, trying not to act awkwardly whilst not maintaining eye contact, passing the counter by. The two nurses at the counter only watched as he passed by them in awkward steps.

Nurse 1; Pff, Guy’s a total douchebag

The first nurse stated as she went to work, the second nurse however, merely shifted her seat on wheels to the side and turned on her Scroll. Texting another figure going by ‘Mr. Murn’.

He’s on his way

He then walked out of the hospital sliding doors, fresh air after so long. But that didn’t stop him as he looked around and found a nearby Hold(Taxi) car was just nearby the. building he exited.

Chris then looked left and right as to see if there’s anyone there or not. Heart thumping he went straight for the car, and the back door.

Chris: Drive! *He shifted his eyes from the side*

Still keeping his trained eye on the building, the car kept driving farther and farther away from the Hospital. He then gathered his courage to look around if anyone’s following him by car.

By the time the hospital was out of sight, he cheered and grunted in joy with raised hands. He’s really free! Finally! His sentence done and he can finally take a breather, go home and maybe take some steps to plan his next move.

Just got intrested in the Peacemaker series and season 2 was a banger and thought, why not? It would've been fun.

Chapter Text

Being a Lantern is the most insane and taxing job for more “normal centric” species of the universe while some “battle hardened” species were naturally in their element. It became a bias that if you aren’t sane enough to handle the job, then your sanity may have to go bye-bye.

It was less like an Ironclad rule and more of a prediction for some of the Guardians of the Universe and certain Corp members from different Lantern corps. The Red Lanterns worship this fact even more so, saying that “only the weak cower before absolute power”.

But in today’s efforts, things have changed. Sinestro is busy outsmarting and outfighting May Zedong, a dusky rose haired girl with gray-blue eyes, and light tan skin. She’s outfitted with her iconic and the Corps classic black and green bodysuit featuring the Green Lantern Corps logo on her chest, a matching green eyepatch mask, and white gloves. one of the few humans to gain a Green Lantern ring on Remnant of all places.

Covered in Green Aura as she’s floating in said planet’s Stratosphere, getting space and thinking up new strategies against the most skilled Green Lantern the Corp their universe has ever seen.

She generated a floating array of weapons she imagined and saw in her travels throughout the Galaxy and her home planet. Plasma guns, Sniper rifles, RPGs, Machine guns, SMGs, Battle Rifles, Railguns, a Starship with plasma cannons, Ancient Bows that shoot multiple Yellow Lantern seeking missile arrows. Heck, even the ones her trainer, Kilowog often uses.

May was starting to lose hope, she’s come so far. When she was chosen by the Green Ring, trained on Oa. So much so that May’s seen so much unnecessary war that she feels like an emotionless soldier fighting an endless war. When May came back and reconnected with her planet, she met a lot of new people, joined the Justice League and even fell in love. Now? Now she feels like a normal girl spending time with the ones she cares for the most and less like the Soldier the Corp wanted her to be.

There must be someway, someway to overcome this.

“Are you thinking of giving up now, Maia Sarkara?” Sinestro asked, floating in front of May as he pointed the Ring of Yellow Fear at her. Glowing as he got ready to take the shot, she only gritted her teeth; she did the same with her Ring of Green Will while trying to catch her breath.

“W-Why do you keep calling me that!? That’s not even my name!” She then launched a beam blast from her ring, Sinestro blocked of course before factually speaking.

“As you wish, live in blissful ignorance, but you need to surrender. Your power ring is running out of energy. How long before you face the inevitable?” He threatened as the Yellow Ring grew brighter.

“N-Never, you betrayed us, Sinestro. A-And now you’re threatening my home and those I care for. I w-w-won’t stand for it…” She growled while trying to gain her breathing, even after training with and doing missions with the Lanterns, May couldn’t get over her skittish and stuttering nature…or maybe because she’s out of breath from enduring Sinestro’s abuse. But spending it around the League, people who were kids like her doing the right thing, saving and helping people wherever they can, she remembers one thing she learned most of all.

“And I’m not the only one who feels the same.”

Before Sinestro could reply, he felt something crashing into him at brilliant speeds, knocking him away before gaining his footing by stopping tracks in the air. He saw in front of him another surprising sight.

Another Green Lantern with a tall, heavily built body with burnt-orange hair, a prominent peak at the center of his forehead, and glowing white aura eyes. He’s outfitted with a knight’s breastplate with a familiar Corp symbol on the chest and ab area, a black jumpsuit, a white belt, gloves and green steel-toed combat boots and holding two green constructed maces with a cocky grin on his face.

Another was a dark-skinned teenager with wild but tanned platinum blonde hair tied into a long braid with small chopsticks behind it, olive green eyes as she’s outfitted with a weird inverse of the Greens but instead of green, its most a blue and black jumpsuit with no gloves other than blue mask and vambraces making her tanned hands visible with a Blue ring worn on of her fingers with a standard Table Breaker stance.

They both stood next to May as her and the heavily built Lantern glowed heavily with Green Aura and glowed white aura eyes. Looking at their opponent, battle ready as they are.

“Arslan, Cardin, you made it…” May sighed as she almost about to fall before, Arslan caught her. The Blue Lantern patted her shoulder as the Blue ring glowed brighter, the former could feel it, the healing of the blue light as it not only healed her but supercharged her.

“Forgive us, we were too occupied at the moment. We are here now.” Arslan apologised, Cardin merely scoffed as he spun one of his Maces in hand, never taking his eyes off the Yellow Lantern.

“Speak for yourself, Ms Nun. Its just one dude, probably gonna be a piece o’ cake.” Cardin spoke in advance. “I mean, seriously sweet cheeks? This guys? Mr. Strawberry paste over here?” He jokingly questioned as he pointed one of his Maces to Sinestro’s direction.

“CARDIN!!!” Arslan shamed.

“What? I’m just sayin’.” Cardin defended, “Anyway, ready to take the Reject twirling mustache supervillain? Cuz I’m itching for it!” He said, hot blooded and ready to throw down. Arslan looked at their opponent with narrowing eyes.

He has a yellow lantern ring, which means he’s very dangerous. Its enough they have to deal with the Reds like Atrocius and excommunicated Lanterns like Blackhand. Now, Sinestro, one of the many talented and skilled warriors of the Green Corp has his hold on the Yellow Lantern ring that’s powered by absolute fear.

This is troublesome indeed.

“Do not let your guard down, Cardin. That’s Sinestro, one of the most dangerous members of the Lanterns. I can charge your rings and provide support but we have to be very cautious approaching him.” Arslan advised while May, already got up from her grasp and generated a green Sniper Rifle as she too was ready for battle.

“She is correct, Cardin Winchester. I would be wary if I were you.” Sinestro also advised. It was ignored as May cocked her

“I-Its alright, Arslan. We got this, I’m no longer d-doubtful about things as of now with you guys here.” May spoke softly with determined eyes. Cardin merely smirked as he then spun his other Mace like a certain Hawk warrior.

“Well, in that case. GET ‘EM!!!”

Notes:

With the recent near end of James Gunn's Peacemaker, I was looking forward to the "Lanterns" series and was inspired by Gunn's Superman and the GL animated series that it got me going.

Currently working on a chapter about Whitley's and Ruby's birthday coming up later near halloween(not a thing for Whitley in canon as he doesn't have a birthday and so I've declared his debut episode release date as the official date. Oct 30th to be exact).

Chapter 9: Whitley's always prepared

Chapter Text

Currently strapped to a chair that's been nailed to the floor, Batman slowly regains consciousness and drowsy eyes he opens them.

First, he struggles and tries to break out of his bindings, then begins to breathe in and out before looking towards his surroundings.

Greeting him was a dark yet constructed room with pipes, next to him lies an Electric Dust powered flashlight for cave dwellers and miners alike when it comes to Dust veins.

He should know since the SDC either owns the flashlights or buys them from other companies.

The Bat remembers now, the Spiders and the Dark Witch’s cult got to him, after all these years. Wherever he was, it was definitely underground since Oracle isn't picking up. Even after stopping their terrorist attempts at Atlas.

His utility belt is missing, not good but best make the most out of a less than ideal situation. Using his concentration, he used the Batcowl’s detective vision, scanning his surroundings for close-by lifeforms and possible cameras watching his move.

There was not.

Seizing his moment, he flicked his pointing finger a few times, over and over again. Before finally-

TINK!

-a long multi-lockpick sprung out of the tip, he then got to work slowly picking the lock on the cuffs that tied him to the chair. They won't be getting away with this, they will pay for this…

“You know? This is nice. A walk along the Island, a nice view, you and I holding hands, etc. A huge improvement from our last date.”

“Mmm.”

This was supposed to be another recon mission abroad on behalf of the League, him and a “mutual” frenemy merely bumped in to each other. But now he and the Thief are just on what she would call; a redeemed date despite not even recognising they’ve gone on one as most of it was the two trading blows and clashing with each other over conflicting values.

He didn’t come alone, obviously but still. Maybe he should’ve chosen to go with Wonder Woman to investigate, at the very least she wouldn’t have made a big deal of this. They both owe him big for setting the two love birds up.

The things he does for love and the “mission”.

“And no supervillain or Grimm in sight. I honestly do hope it never ends.” Blake sighed in relief, both now out of their Thief and Vigilante uniforms respectively and wearing new personas, she held his hand and leaned on him in a very ‘intimate’ manner. Whitley could only match that sigh as he was more annoyed than embarrassed.

I certainly hope so.’ he thought while trying to hold back the grumbles.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

So there really is a God!’ The disguised Whitley as he silently thanked whatever powerful forces that heard his silent prayers. He then rushed towards the scene with the disguised Blake in tow.

Armed rogue White Fang cells are currently gunning down nearby villagers and frontiersmen, only due to the human sympathisers, foreigners and traitors alike who didn’t fit their status quo of ‘pure’ Faunus. Luckily, the local Rangers and his deputies are on the case, helping out nearby civilians.

It was a miniature warzone as the terrorist cells were outgunning them in terms of numbers and fire power, Whitley and Blake rushed back to hide behind cover.

The former, reached down inside the long sleeve of his black leather jacket, only to pull out what was Batman’s iconic Utility belt that’s usually placed around his waist and slung it around his back to buckle onto his stomach like a belly bag. Blake raised a brow in curiosity.

“You brought your utility belt?” Blake questioned.

“I may be a Schnee heir, but I’m also Batman. So yes, I never leave home without this.” He answered. “ Are you ready? Because I have a plan in motion.” It was now his turn to ask.

Blake Belladonna smiled, and shook her head and pulled Gambol Shroud from her cleaver sheath. This was less than ideal, but it would be better to see her man in action than just brooding, mostly.

“What’s the plan?”

“Batman, Green Arrow.” A feminine yet familiar voice called out throughout the library.

The Justice Cave has been known to be one of the most secretive base of operations where powerful heroes like Superman to street level ones like Guardian gather not just as members of a League of heroes doing good in all of Remnant but also safe haven where they would just chill out and talk about hero things or just take a nap for example.

Right now, this place was now anything but safe. They were assaulted and trapped by unknown adversaries that control the elements of blazing infernos and waves of tsunamis. Batman had a security breach alert whilst on a tag team with Green Arrow.

By the time the two reached the Justice Cave, they were assaulted by these very same elements. Currently, they roamed the hallways looking for a way to escape and catch their breath.

“The Hangar’s not that fa-!” He was interrupted as a mini-tsunami made its way in the most terrifying way a human would be normally wetting themselves at.

“Now you’re just jinxing it!” Green Arrow swore before they eventually got swept up by the wave.

Drifting about, Batman then pulled out a half-face mask and attached a rebreather from his utility belt. He then adjusted himself before finally eyeing the Emerald Archer floating about and getting dizzy from the looks of it as many of his arrows drifted away from his bag, by the time he drifted towards him, Batman held him still and gave his mask to his comrade seeing as he’s already mastered his breathing techniques when it comes to underwater exploration.

Green Arrow accepted as he wore the rebreather and took in any oxygen the small capsules had. He suddenly felt something grab at his leg to see another bizarre sight. A young girl with short red hair, red flashing eyes, small freckles on her face wearing an unreadable look, a dress shirt that’s neatly expected of a scuffed white shirt that has laces across the chest. The sleeves are rolled up to her elbows to reveal red cybernetic arms. Green suspenders hold up her black pants, which are tucked into worn, and loafers.

The girl still pulled him down, trying to drown him in his wake despite his Aura still active. His free hand opened in a knife hand, then spun in a drill motion, an attempt to break his Aura most likely. The Blonde Archer still tried to fight back, trying every move in the book that would normally stun an Aura unlocked lifeform

The Dark Knight of Atlas saw this and grabbed a nearby arrow, then diving forward in a frog swim. Perfectly blocking the drill arm, and jamming the arrow in the girl’s eyes. Electricity fizzled out from her and moved in a twitchy like manner, unable to process what had happened.

This allowed Batman to pull Green Arrow out of the way. Still shoulder carrying him, Batman then fired his iconic Grappling hook at the end of the hall, pulling both of them out of safety whilst putting some distance from them.

The redhead recovered, revealing her eye to be very cybernetic in design. She tried to keep track of his targets before witnessing what was in front of him, multiple explosive Batarangs left in a trail as they were beeping for a few seconds, the Android tried to run but she was already caught up in the blast, sending her meters away from her target and stunning him for a while.

It was then the Android’s fake tissue and clothes revealed more of its cybernetics as it was barely holding her disguise.

““HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WHITLEY!””

Whitley Schnee, heir to the Schnee fortune, Billionaire brat, Jacques’ boy, those were the titles the rich elites of Atlas would call him either in his face or behind his back. He was used to it, it was just another day of attending rich parties, impressing the other elites and showing off, flexing his intelligence and charm.

But when the sun sets on a cloudy kingdom of Ice, Snow and Steel, that’s when he could finally be more than just his family’s legacy.

After a night of stopping a few gangs, protecting the people, helping MCPD and the Atlesian Military in locating a supply of V.E.N.O.M. Bane’s gang left behind as a precaution for what was going to happen next.

What that was, he wasn’t sure…

Oracle called him to the Justice Cave, saying it was an emergency. Why wouldn’t it be? He knew she was lying, but it couldn’t hurt to return back just to check. As his Batmobile was submerged underwater, a platform lifted him, to reveal the Justice Cave’s front door for the underwater guests.

He was greeted by a loud cheer and party poppers, members of the League all here to greet her with happy smiles on his face. The Cave’s design was Bat themed all over, nearly celebrating Halloween in the process of monster themed accessories and things Whitley liked.

“What is this?” He demanded, turning off the voice modulator inside the cowl. Unbothered or not caring if Whitley used that tone, Ruby stepped forward, not wearing a hearing mask, she dragged him by the arm.

“Tell ya later! C’mon, it's your birthday. We’ll sing to you, play games, give presents, talk about weapon designs and galore!” She tried to pull him towards the group who just got ready to sit down.

“This seems like something you’d prepare for yourself.” He commented.

“Pleeease…my birthday’s in like a few hours or so. By that time, you and everyone will be having fun the whole night…” She said casually. “...Birthday Bro!” Ruby finished with a smug look on her face, earning an eyeroll from the Bat of Mantle

And sure enough it did, in the span of that time frame the League members sung Happy Birthday to him in an honest matter as half of them sung it in a smug tease. This earned a small ire on him, but chose to ignore them in favour of enjoying the moment.

They then gathered all around for cake, Neptune and Pyrrha were the first to pig out as Jaune cut the cake in half and placed it on plates for others to come by pick it up. The only one who didn’t eat was Penny considering her nature, and most of them sat by the couches or stood by and yet it didn’t stop them still from talking about their time in their lives and jobs.

Then they gathered around and offered presents, some in boxes, some given personally and others in letters. Jaune offered his Miniature Kryptonian Codex, a Drive that can hold up to as many as a “kingdom made of Memory Drives” as it couldn’t compare to the Fortress of Solitude’s CPU systems due to being a miniature version of said CPU. Pyrrha bought a wooden model of a Tyrannosaurus Rex from before the Moonshatter era, it did bring memories of his time when he would play before…before…he didn’t want to focus on such thoughts. Neptune got him an Atlantean gold coin, he assumed Whitley was rich but he sure as hell didn’t have a piece of history like this(The Amazonian pulled a strained smile at the sight of it for the most obvious reasons). May got him simple winter gloves as he was living in Solitas for the most part. M’gann made him a simple family recipe but using Remnant’s similar food structure to make the basis of it, it was in a bento box so he could eat it when he got home or when wanted to eat it for breakfast. Ruby didn’t seem to have a present, and told everyone this is a private gift, meaning she’ll give it after the party. Last, but not least; Penny gifted Whitley an advanced Rubix cube made for only someone of his intelligence or beyond to solve, she says it will help with his brain being more active for exercises.

The rest was the usual plan. They made a combat tournament using foam swords only, Whitley and May were evenly matched, Pyrrha and Jaune couldn’t take part in it due to their super strength. Then it was Diplomacy, the board game. Jaune and May earned second and third place respectively, and gave the rest minor headaches for thinking too much.

Batman doesn’t say this all the time, but he was happy they saw him for who he really was. Not as the spoiled brat the world knows him as, but as a friend, a brother, a fellow superhero, a scary and smart guy and more.

If there were any regrets in founding the Justice League, they were already eliminated…

Time passed by quickly. Many of their friends had to say goodbye, but all-in-all, they enjoyed themselves. Whitley most of all enjoyed it in more ways than one, the faces on them when they tasted bitter defeat. Very enjoyable indeed.

The Justice Cave was mostly vacant, leaving only Ruby and Whitley without their masks. They both sat on the couches everyone was partying on after cleaning up what’s left of it(which was short work for the Speedster).

“So, why the privacy? Is there something you needed to say to me?” He asked while analyzing her body language, Ruby merely rubbed her arm in shyness of just finding the right words. Eventually, she managed to breath out a sentence.

“Right, well, remember when I went after me and the team defeated Zoom?” Ruby explained, Whitley silently nodded. She then began to retail the events to come, the Fastest girl alive couldn’t live or go on with the thought of living in a world without her parents, her Dad, and went back in time from when before Summer went on her last mission and stopped her from going forward, warning of the events to follow, starting what they she call “The Flashpoint” event.

Summer Rose-Xiao-Long lived her life as a retired Huntress, along with her husband Taiyang Xiao-Long. At first, the only problem she could have is that she didn’t meet her friends/future teammates yet, her speed was gone and there was no Superman. But, everything was fine, her Mom and Dad were alive, Yang was happy(and weirdly more girly) than she remembered.

But the red flags were too many to ignore. Whitley was dead, his mantle taken up by his Uncle Warden, Penny was a hulking war machine instead of a friendly android, Aquaman and Wonder Woman were warmongers as the former was leading Atlantis to defend against Salem’s faction while is 1k society(Neo-Nazis), siding with Salem. They both were fighting each other for their own different faction and vengeance, and such much more unbearable things that even the young Flash couldn’t bear to hear.

By the end of it, she made a choice, go back in time and fix everything before her past self before she screwed everything up. By the time she fixed the timeline in place, Whitley’s birthday was just around the clock.

Taking all this in, said birthday boy was sitting there, just silently making notes of this in his head. It looks like he’s judging her with that unreadable look on his face, but really, she could feel grief and empathy coming from the silent judgy look he gave and nonetheless before taking a breath.

“So let me get the facts straight; You broke the chronal barrier, went back in time, prevented your mother from going on that secretive mission by Ozpin, and completely changed the Timestream.” He noted with a brow slightly raised.

“Nearly ending the entire world as we know it along the way? Pretty much.” Ruby added, but something wasn’t right. “Although there, there's something I don't get. I’m not great at this Quantum physics stuff, and correct if I’m wrong but I remember all of it, not just after I woke up there all of a sudden,” she explained

“but my whole other life. I remember every memory with my Mom spending it with my family, how she helped me and Yang build our babies, every anniversaries, birthdays and family holidays. Some kind of weird after effect?” She finished as the Scarlet Speedster started to wonder about the possibilities.

“Normally, this is the part where I criticize you for doing something outside of your calibre. But I think you’ve learned your lesson.” Ruby flinched slightly, yeah deserved, kind of “As for your hypothesis, maybe it was a consolation gift, since I’m theorizing the universe actually wanted to give you a break.” Whitley simply said.

Ruby couldn’t help but smile a bit, the universe actually gave her an opportunity to enjoy life with her parents before everything went by in a flash. It's funny, he did say that this life of ours is not something for the faint of heart, she didn’t understand it before it was too late, too late to save everybody…

She then walked towards him, pulling out a small letter with a familiar logo attached to the envelope and gave it to the birthday boy. Curiously, he took it to investigate it further, his eyes widened.

“This…is my uncle’s logo…” Whitley opened it to see familiar handwriting as well. “....writing too.” He looked at Ruby in awe.

“Happy birthday, Whit.” Ruby smiled in a confirmed nod, slowly, he read through the letter, carefully examining the words, each letter and word read with meaning, emotion, and regrets.

For the first time in a long time, tears were leaking out in a sense of relief, sadness, longing, so many emotions came flowing through him all at once as it was too much to handle as some of the tear droplets landed on the paper.

Even through that, he couldn't help but ask.

“Is this the only letter he gave you?”

“Nope, there's one for Weiss and Winter but I'll give it to them on their birthday.” Ruby shook her head and sat down next to him. This earned a small laugh from the boy, they would be surprised and definitely wouldn't believe it was from their beloved but dead Uncle.

“Ruby Rose…you are one hell of a messenger. You know that right?” The unmasked Knight rubbed eyes and brushed his tears away as he sighed. She only wrapped her arms around his massive shoulders in comfort.

“I know,” Ruby whispered, and merely smiled.

“Ruby?”

“Yeah?”

“Happy Birthdayween.”

FIN...

Notes:

- Just some moments of Batman after he and the Trinity founded the Justice League.
- Some are references to a lot of Young Justice, if you can guess why Blake is so friendly with Whitley, congratulations!
- I initially wanted to do a Darkseid one but I don't think I'm that creative for a scenario.
- His Birthday in my headcanon is October 30th, the day of his first debut episode.

Chapter Text

Arslan Altan has gone on many missions during her studies at Haven Academy; her team and many others would be sent out typically every few days. On some weekends to take part in missions across Anima, Some very dangerous transports of certain cargo’s, some taking up a spec ops against terrorist cells, some even exploring ancient undiscovered ruins Humanity and Faunuskind haven’t seen in years.

But missions like these are what she believes are one of the most important aspects of being a Huntress.

Protecting and guarding a settlement.

Right now, it's not going so well. This settlement has been attacked multiple times, either by White Fang, Bandits or even the Grimm themselves. Her team had some close calls but not a lot of lucky ones. Considering how worse and worse it got, many of the local militia did their best, but they’re running low on Food and Dust ammunition. They were dirty, exhausted and morally bruised from all of this.

The people’s morale was at an all-time low, though some were hopeful just because of her, her Team ABRN, and the work they’ve done. But that wasn’t even the least of his problems. Nadir and Reese scouted ahead of the settlement to check for any incoming enemies headed straight towards them, only to find something practically worse: Hordes of Grimm that numbered in the millions.

This…they had to evacuate, quickly!

By the time the two retreated to the Settlement, they wouldn’t have enough time to evacuate the whole settlement. It's why they put together a battle plan that involves buying them enough time for the other Frontiersmen to get as far away as they can into the city borders.

The council there couldn’t agree more and began preparations.

As for Arslan herself, other than keeping morale up, she and her team have been sparring, eating, and praying to the Breaker above together that somehow, someway, hope would arrive. Currently, in the dead of night, it was her and Reese’s shift, her turn at patrol. Wandering around the streets as per usual, she couldn’t help but look around at how simple these buildings look. How they brought memories to many who live here.

Something caught her eye, or more likely, someone. There was a dark skinned child painting on the giant cloth of a familiar symbol along with his friends. The Warrior Nun approached curiously, wondering why they would be up so late. Where were their parents? What were they doing?

Cautiously, she took a few steps in before coughing. The children froze and slowly turned around, afraid for some reason, ‘curious’ she thought. To their absolute relief, they greeted Arslan with a friendly wave and gestured for her to come over to them. She did so and squatted, as she saw their hard work; A red flag painted in the symbol on the chest of Vale’s personal hero, the most powerful unofficial Huntsman in Remnant, The Kaiju Crusher, the Man of Steel:

Superman.

“What are you doing, Young Ones? Isn’t it past your bedtime?” She gently asked, but they didn’t reply, as they are busy painting on the flag with nice colours with what spray cans they have. Only one of them answered.

“Trying to help you guys, Huntress.” The same dark skinned boy replied. “We heard from the chief that massive Grimm Armies are coming and that we wanted to help.” He added before gesturing to his friends.

“And so you decided to brand the town with flags of the Valean hero’s symbol?” The Table Breaker Nun asked, wondering why they would start now, of all times. The children then lifted the flag with each side of it to the next location, and the boy started to explain.

“Not exactly, we weren’t confident that you, your team and our families would make it back alive, and we don’t wanna leave home again, and we’re not gonna stand here and do nothing. So we all talked about it and decided to call the most powerful hero this World has ever seen.” He explained that it did make sense in that context, but these children don’t understand that he’s only one person and that these Grimm numbered in millions, and he’s very far away from where they are.

“That’s a wonderful thought, does this mean you have little confidence in us?” The Table Breaker nun questioned, if the child said yes, then she wouldn’t blame him. She too felt fleeting in her confidence for the town.

“Nah, we just thought that we could bring in the big guns. Want us to make an awesome flag for you?” The child answered, she shook her head in a calm smile.

“There’s no need, just knowing you support us…is more than enough.” Arslan then laid a hand on his head in an affectionate rub, the child nodded as he then retreated with his friends, planning their next step in calling Superman,

She then pulled her hand to her beads, and held them in tight desperation for the coming storm that was approaching. She prayed and muttered the following:

Oh Breaker above, please lend me the strength to overcome this great challenge you have put upon us.

Daybreak had come, the Horde was not far from the borders of the neighbouring kingdom. The militia ready themselves with their outdated weapons, guns and vehicles alike, Team ABRN took different positions, Arslan and Bolin took charge of the front lines(specifically being right in front of the gates when they breached), Reese and Nadir took marksman positions along the wall, supporting the other gunners by the walls.

The rest of the villagers evacuated into bunkers, safely kept there if or when they were done killing all the Grimm. Civilians, old and young, gathered together in a large bunker with lots of food and water to keep them alive for at least a few days.

The sounds of roaring, snarling, bloodcurdling screaming and growls of the nightmare beasts that are the creatures of the Darkness.

Arslan and Bolin held their hands together, squatted and prayed for as long as they could, before getting ready to finally get ready within classic stances they used for combat.

Then something that they should’ve expected.

There were children still up on the roof as they gathered lots of long objects and tied them together on the floor, a familiar small finished by attaching a familiar coloured flag to it with all the best of his abilities. The children then helped pull the pole up, glittering in the bright and early sun.

The same chocolate skinned boy, Arslan recognised, he raised a voice. Cracked, haunting, raw.

“Superman!”

It came first as a breath: thin, fragile. But then when a few voices echoed it, more people started to match it.

Superman!

The chant rose again, stronger. More voices grew in number, the nearby soldiers, the adults that didn’t hide away from the bunker, the old men with scarred faces muttered it in hushed reverence. The children echoed it, their pitch trembling but certain.

A single old militia man saw the heart warming action of his people, shed a small tear and joined.

“SUPERMAN!”

“SUPERMAN!”

“SUPERMAN!”

It was not a roar; it was a plea. A prayer. A demand. The name spoken with fear, with grief, with hope, reverberated against broken stone and ruined dreams.

Flags and guns raised, hands clasped, faces upturned as though the sky itself might crack open and deliver what so many years of war had denied them. The wind caught the red flag, tearing at its edges. Sandy dust swirled in gusts that carried their voices across fields of ruin.

For one breath-held moment, time stilled. The advancing hordes of the Grimm came, they sensed their emotions and started to rush them more faster from when they came here.

As the militia and crowd chanted, each repetition of “Superman” became less a supplication and more a testament: That even when the world falls apart, when rights and lives are stripped away, they still believe in something greater.

In salvation. In justice. In someone who might stand between them and oblivion.

Even if they were humble villagers and townsfolk, stripped of home and dignity, they raised that flag.

They spoke that name.

They dared.

And in that echo, in that faith, the shape of something more than fear took hold:

Hope.

Arslan and Bolin were in awe at the scene unfolding, they still held their positions but were still temporarily stunned. Has Superman gotten this famous? This much notoriety to a point where even the land he doesn’t live in calls out his name?

If he didn’t hear that, then that was probably fair.

“Uh, Arslan?” Bolin called out. She turned her head to his direction, only to see a floating glowing blue ring, alien in design, floated near her. Almost as if it's offering her this unnatural object.

Arslan Altan of Remnant. You have the ability to instill great hope.

Notes:

-Yes, this was from Superman 2025. The chant with the villagers really inspired me in a way that. This is just the DCRWBY version of it.
- Happy December to those who are reading this, college has been busy and that leaves me concerned I'm the only one writing these small snippets...oh well! At least I'm having some fun writing it.
- I was thinking up ways to write Arslan as a person who instills hope as not just a Table Breaker worshipper but also as someone who wants to in a world dominated by the strong.

Notes:

- Welcome to the Elsewords sidestories where if were not thinking about building the crossover world, we invent snippets and sometimes multi parters for fun!

- Feel free suggest ideas as this is for everyone with cool ideas.
