Chapter Text

“Ugh, dammit Keigo! Dad’s location stopped sharing!” Touya grumbled as he made sure he screenshotted the location.

“Calm down, love. You got a screenshot—we’ll be fine. It’s only like 4 a.m. I can still drive for another 3 hours,” Keigo smiled at him.

“Right,” Touya took a deep breath. “I need coffee or something. Can we stop off at this gas station real quick?” he asked calmly.

“Sure.” Keigo turned into the gas station and parked the car.

“I’ll stay here with Eri. Can you grab me some tea, please?” Keigo asked while unbuckling his seatbelt and taking his phone out.

“Sure, Starshine. I’ll be quick.” Touya smiled, got out, and walked into the store.

He was wandering around, grabbing Keigo his tea, some coffee for himself, and snacks for Eri. Then he saw someone wandering around looking panicked.

The guy walked over to a wall and stood facing it, which really confused Touya. He walked a little closer and heard what the guy was saying.

“I wanna go home… why did I get lost? I just want to go home!” The guy was wearing a hoodie that said If lost, please return to Mirio Togata.

Huh… looks like something Keigo would buy… Anyway, I should help him.

He tapped the guy on the shoulder, and he flinched. “Uh, hey… you okay?” Touya asked gently.

The guy turned around. “N-no… I lost my friend…”

“That sucks. I can help you find him. Where did you see him last?” Touya looked around.

“Um… Tokyo. I got on the wrong plane and now I’m here…” The guy looked down at the floor, ashamed.

“Hey, don’t worry. I’ll help you get back to Tokyo. You might have to tag along on a search-and-rescue mission, but we’ll get you there!” Touya smiled at him.

“Uh… okay. Yeah, let’s go then. I’m Tamaki, by the way…” Tamaki followed Touya to the checkout.

“I’m Touya. Oh, and I hope you don’t mind kids, ‘cause you have to sit in the back with my little sister.” Touya paid for the stuff and they walked out.

“That’s fine. I’m weirdly good with kids.” Tamaki followed Touya to his car, and they both got in.

“Hey, my love! Who’s this?” Keigo asked, looking through the stuff Touya bought.

“His name is Tamaki. He lost his friend in Tokyo, so I’m helping him out.” Touya handed Keigo his tea, which he had been searching for.

“Cool. I’m Keigo. Welcome to the family.” Keigo took a sip of his tea.

“Family?” Tamaki looked confused.

“Yeah! We have a big found family, and everyone we meet just ends up as another sibling! Also, Touya, why is there a whole box of cereal in here?!” Keigo pointed at a very large box of cereal.

Touya shrugged. “It’s the good stuff, Starshine. Both Eri and I love it!”

Keigo nodded. “Alright, anyway! Tamaki, I have some questions for you.”

“Uh… s-sure.” Tamaki nodded, and Keigo started pulling out of the gas station.

“Okay, how old are you?”

“25…”

Keigo nodded again. “Okay, okay, nice. A good age to be. Next question—who is Mirio Togata?”

Tamaki blushed a little—it was subtle, but still there. “Just my childhood friend…”

“Oh? And do you like him?” Keigo asked, noticing the blush getting darker on Tamaki’s cheeks.

“Um… in what way?” Tamaki asked, staring at the floor.

“Like, a love kinda way?” Keigo said. “I dunno much about love. I just became friends with my boyfriend, then we kissed, and that was 14 years ago. We’re still together today.”

“Uh… well, he’s super nice, and he gives great hugs and makes me feel safe and worth loving… and life feels worth living when he’s around… he’s like the sun… my su—” Tamaki covered his mouth, realizing he had said that out loud.

“Aw, that’s sweet! Well, don’t worry, Tamaki. We’re gonna get you back to Tokyo as soon as we can!” Keigo looked determined.

They drove for a while, then Eri decided to wake up.

“Mhhh… big brother?” Everyone looked at Eri when she said big brother—even Keigo.

“Starshine, focus on the road!” Touya said.

“Oh yeah—oopsie.” Keigo looked back at the road.

“What do you need, Eri?” Touya asked gently.

“Who’s this?” She pointed to Tamaki.

“My name’s Tamaki. What’s your name?” Tamaki spoke softly, but he sounded confident.

“I’m Eri! Are you a new big brother?” Eri asked, smiling.

“Uh…” Tamaki looked up at Touya, who nodded. “Yeah, I guess I am.” He smiled at Eri.

“Yay! Can I show you my drawing?” Eri looked at Touya, who handed her a small bag.

She pulled out a drawing of about 10 people with the word family on top.

“There’s Dad, there’s Papa, there’s Touya and Keigo, here’s Shinso, Denki, and Kirishima, and there’s Shoto and Katsuki… and there’s me!” She pointed at each person and told Tamaki about them—or whatever 3-year-old Eri knew about them.

“That’s really cool, Eri!” Tamaki smiled at her, and she smiled back.

“Do you have a picture of your family?” Eri asked, looking curious.

“Uh… yeah, but my family is much smaller than yours…” Tamaki mumbled.

“That’s okay! Papa told me family comes in all different shapes and sizes!” Eri said, trying to imitate Mic’s voice.

“Yeah… I guess you’re right.” Tamaki showed Eri a picture he kept in his wallet of him and Mirio on the beach.

“Is that your boyfriend? Touya has a boyfriend, and so does Shinso! And Shoto! And Papa!” Eri kicked her little legs excitedly.

“Wait, where did Shin get a boyfriend from?” Keigo asked.

“Yeah, him and Denki aren’t dating… yet.” Touya said, smirking.

“What about the blonde guy and Shoto?” Eri asked quietly.

“Kats and Sho are so gonna become a thing. I’m willing to bet money on it!” Keigo said, looking confident.

“Nah, he’s not my boyfriend…” Tamaki mumbled.

“Yet,” Touya said again.

Keigo popped in again. “If you want to be with him, we can help you!”

“It’s okay. Could I borrow a charger? My phone’s been dead for like a week…” Tamaki mumbled.

“Sure, dude.” Touya handed him the cable, and he plugged in his phone. A few minutes later, it switched on and started blowing up with notifications.

“Uh, your phone is like going off over there. You good?” Touya asked.

“Yeah… just my parents disowning me and Mirio freaking out—shit, Mirio!” Tamaki called him on speaker.

Mirio picked up instantly. “Sunshine! Oh my gosh, you’re okay!!”

“Yeah, I’m good…” Tamaki said, sounding happy?

“Where are you?! Put your camera on!” Mirio sounded slightly panicked.

“Uh… okay…” Tamaki put his camera on and smiled.

“Okay, you’re okay! Wait—whose car are you in?” Mirio asked, sounding less panicked. Touya grabbed the phone.

“He’s in his brother’s car!” Touya said.

“Oh, hello! I didn’t know Tamaki had siblings!” Mirio smiled. “I’m Mirio Togata!”

“Touya, and that guy’s name is Keigo.” Touya put the camera on Keigo.

“Heyo!” Keigo didn’t look at the camera but waved.

“Hi!!” Mirio said cheerfully.

“Can I have my phone back please, Touya?”

“Oh yeah, here you go.” Touya handed the phone back.

“Are you okay, Sunshine?” Mirio asked.

“Yeah, I’m good. I’ll be home soon… just helping my brothers find our dads…” Tamakismiled.

“Well then stay safe! I’ll be at Tokyo airport when you get home!!” Mirio smiled at him.

“I’m looking forward to that… I’ll see you soon.” Tamaki looked down. “And if my parents come to the apartment, don’t let them in…”

“Why? Is everything okay?” Mirio asked, clearly concerned.

“They disowned me apparently… so yeah…” Tamaki laughed bitterly.

“I’m sorry. But don’t worry, I’ll keep the apartment super safe!!” Mirio pretended to punch something and laughed.

“I know you will… bye.”

“Bye, Sunshine. I miss you.”

“Miss you too…”

The call dropped…

“Starshine, you need to turn left here…” Touya reminded him.

“Which one is left?” Keigo asked.

“That one, baby.” Touya pointed left, and Keigo turned.

They saw a big building that looked like a hospital.

“Nice! We made it!” Keigo turned around to face the two in the back seat. “Okay, Eri, Tamaki—we need you two to do something to distract everyone in there so Touya and I can sneak in.”

“Uh… well, I can rush in and say Eri is sick?” Tamaki suggested quietly.

“Yes, perfect! Act like a concerned father whose daughter has a high fever!” Touya smirked and looked over to Eri. “Hey Eri, do you think you can pretend to be sick?”

“I think so…” Eri looked like she was deep in thought, then she nodded. “Yes, I can!”

“Okay then, let’s do this thing!!” Keigo said.

Tamaki picked Eri up, put a blanket over her, and took a deep breath.

This is for Mirio… and my new family, I guess. I just need to be brave.

He rushed in looking panicked. “I need help!! Someone please help my daughter!!” he shouted, which made everyone rush over to him and Eri.

While that was going on, Touya and Keigo ran past and into the back area.

“What’s wrong with your daughter, sir?” one doctor asked.

“She has a high fever…” he said, trying to stay calm.

“Where’s this girl’s mother?” the same doctor asked.

“Um… she doesn’t have a mother?” Tamaki tried to think of a story on the spot.

Then someone grabbed him and yanked Eri away. “You’re one of those queers, aren’t you!!!” someone screamed.

“N-no I’m not!! Give her back!!” he shouted, trying to break free, but the woman didn’t let go.

“It is unsafe for a toddler to be around you!!! You’re the spawn of Satan!!!” the woman shouted.

“Please, she’s my daughter!” Tamaki’s eyes filled with tears. He had no clue why he wanted to cry… he barely knew Eri—hell, he barely knew Touya and Keigo—but here he was, helping them.

Then it all clicked. He remembered being 7—the nurses dragging his brother away from him. He was perfectly healthy, but they didn’t believe that, and the meds they gave him killed him. Tamaki couldn’t let them do that to Eri. But there was no way to break free.

He stood there, tears dripping onto the floor, and heard Mirio’s voice in his head from the day he opened up about his brother:

“You know, Tamaki… if someone were taking you away from me, I’d fight them. For you, I’d fight the world—not gonna lie.”

He needed to fight—for Touya and Keigo. For Eri.

He looked up at the doctor, twisted his wrist to free it, then punched the woman in the stomach and kneed her in the nose, which made her let go of his other hand.

He ran over to the doctor who took Eri. “Give my daughter back… I’m warning you! What you saw there was nothing—I can do worse…” The crowd of people left, and he got Eri back.

And just in time—out ran Aizawa, Mic, Touya, and Keigo, who were being chased by men in suits.

“Tamaki, come on!!! We gotta get out of here!!” Keigo said.

They piled into the car and drove, and thankfully, the men didn’t have a car, so they were safe.

“Dad, Papa—we made it!!!” Keigo said, sounding like a happy kid.

“I’m impressed you didn’t get lost,” Aizawa said, sounding proud. “But who’s the anxious guy?”

“I’m Tamaki. I lost my friend… or maybe he lost me. Doesn’t matter—Touya found me at a gas station and I distracted the nurses so they could save you,” Tamaki said, looking at the floor.

“Papa, Dad, you should have seen him! The mean nurse held his wrists, and he fought her!!” Eri said, sounding excited.

“I like this one. We’re keeping him,” Aizawa said to Mic.

“Uh… do you have parents, kid?” Mic asked calmly.

“Mine just disowned me, so no—I don’t,” Tamaki said, not sounding too upset about it.

“Well, we’re dads to a bunch of kids! You can, like, come to our house for holidays and stuff… if you want?” Aizawa asked.

“That sounds cool. Yeah! I’d like that! I have a friend who I’m… close with. Can he come too?” Tamaki smiled.

“Sure, kid—the more, the merrier!!” Mic said, smiling back at Tamaki.

“Let me guess… he’s blonde, isn’t he?” Aizawa asked sarcastically.

“Yeah—uh, how did you know?” Tamaki asked, not picking up on the sarcasm. He handed Aizawa the picture of him and Mirio from his wallet.

“Huh… I guess our family attracts blondes…” Aizawa said, looking at the picture.

“Yeah, even Shoto and Shin have a blonde. I dunno about Kiri though,” Keigo added.

“I like this family already…” Tamaki said, smiling.
