caesar sighed as he looked out over the dark city, its waterways blacker than ink. he folded his arms and rested them on the balcony railing. he and joseph had just come back from climbing the oil-soaked pillar, and joseph had finally learned how to properly channel his hamon energy. well, sort of. he was still a headstrong dumbass who barely knew his right from his left. caesar chuckled to himself.
“whats so funny?”
caesar jumped at the sound of joseph’s voice. he whirled around to find joseph, soggy from a rigorous bath. he had a towel draped over his hair, and his shirt clung to his chest. caesar blushed and turned back around.
“nothing. just thinking about how much of an idiot you are, that’s all.”
“is that so?” joseph laughed and stepped out into the cool night air. caesar cleared his throat. he glanced at joseph, and they briefly made eye contact. caesar blushed harder and looked away.
“what is it? you’re acting weird.” joseph asked. caesar cleared his throat again and shifted his weight.
“it’s… it’s nothing… don’t worry about me.”
“no, i will worry about you. something is up.”
caesar sighed. it wouldn’t hurt, would it? to tell joseph about his feelings…
“fine,” caesar looked at joseph finally. “over the past few… days? weeks? i’m not sure… i’ve kind of developed some feelings.”
joseph smiled. he leaned on the railing.
“what kind?”
“romantic ones.”
“aww! i’m sure that if you tell the lucky girl, she’d be more than overjoyed!”
“who said it was a girl?”
joseph raised an eyebrow. caesar smiled a little.
“and who said… who said it wasn’t the person standing next to me right now..?” he added, softly. joseph looked confused.
“there’s only- wait. you don’t mean-“
“yes, i mean you, idiota.”
joseph was taken aback. he didn’t expect that at all. but… it was a relief to know that his feelings for caesar weren’t as one-sided as he thought. he giggled nervously.
“really…? me?”
caesar stepped closer to him, close enough that their shoulders touched.
“yeah.”
for a moment, the two stood, gazing into each others’ eyes. caesar’s eyes wandered down to joseph’s lips. they looked so kissable.
“jojo… you wouldn’t mind if… i mean- can i… can i kiss you…?”
joseph’s cheeks flushed. he didn’t quite know what to say.
“i- i’ve never…”
caesar smiled at him.
“it’s okay. i’m not worried about how good of a kisser you are.”
joseph chuckled nervously. he rubbed the back of his head.
“this would be my first…”
caesar gently placed a hand on joseph’s cheek. he felt the warmth beneath his hand, and smiled. caesar leaned his face towards joseph’s, and their lips met delicately. joseph’s lips were just as beautiful to kiss as they were to look at, much to caesar’s delight. caesar wrapped his arms around joseph, kissing him over and over and over again. he kissed his lips, his cheek, his other cheek, his nose… before long joseph was laughing as caesar peppered kisses all over his face and neck. he looked joseph in the eye and delicately placed one more kiss on his lips. joseph grinned as he kissed back. the two gently parted their faces. caesar smiled, the biggest and most genuine smile that joseph had ever seen from him. it was dazzling.
“we should do this more often.” joseph chuckled. caesar’s face flushed a little more.
“i’m just… glad you felt the same…” caesar said, letting out a relieved sigh. he tightened his hug around joseph just a little. joseph buried his face in caesar’s hair and returned the embrace.
“would it be too soon to say that i love you?” joseph mumbled quietly. caesar laughed.
“no, it would be the perfect time. i love you too.”
