   When Eddie straightened his head again, his eyes looked almost dazed. “I thought you weren’t drunk?” the homeowner said teasingly, her voice near a giggle.

   When Eddie replied, his voice was deep and raspy. “I’m drunk on you, live wire.”

   “Live wire, huh? You’re sounding like Volt again.”

   “Am I?” Eddie said in a low voice, not waiting for an answer. “I wonder how he’ll feel, knowing I’ve got my hands on you first.”

   “How do you know Volt hasn’t already gotten his hands on me?” she teased, the ends of her mouth curling into a grin.

   “Oh, I’d know. He can’t stop talking about you,” Eddie revealed with a quiet laugh. Then his voice dropped an octave. “Here’s a secret: neither can I.”
