Work Text:
"Ah, live wire! Lovely to see you again!"
Volt greets you warmly as you push through the doors of the Breaker Box, an electrifying smile on his face. His hair, glowing as usual, seemed to grow a little brighter as he watches you make your way towards him.
But then, he notices something. Not just him, too. You hear a voice come from behind the bar. It's dark and gruff, but full of sparks nonetheless. Like volts bouncing off rubber.
"You alright? You seem a bit haggard today."
Eddie appears from below the bar counter, having just placed something back. He looks at you, his gaze gently caressing every part of you, concern laced in his vision.
Admittedly, you weren't feeling the best. It had been a long day of mindless writing at your desk, trying to meet expectation after expectation, chasing deadlines and ideas...burning yourself out like a candle burns its wick.
You've been feeding all your energy to your work, like a current without a capacitor, on its way to short circuit.
And what better way to recharge than to go to the manifestation of electricity themselves.
So you take a seat at your usual place, and almost like clockwork, Eddie comes out with the usual—a whiskey sour—and takes his place beside you, on your left. Volt sits at your right, getting comfortable, draping his arm over your shoulders.
"Hey," Eddie starts, slow and deliberate, finding the best way to express his intentions, "If there's anything on your mind, you can always let us know. We're here for you, live wire."
"Not as hosts," Volt adds, "but as your lovers too." He gives your shoulder a reaffirming squeeze.
Already feeling comforted by their presences, you open up to them about your day—how you've been working endlessly, writing as though you were running out of time. Absolutely non-stop. And they listen. They don't interrupt you as you pour your heart out to them. They just listen, affection in their eyes.
"Well, it sounds like you've had quite a tiring day, live wire." Volt remarks, softly. "In fact, you're starting to sound just like Eddie before you repaired his faulty wire—"
"—Okay, okay. Thank you, Volt." Eddie interrupts, a small embarrassed flush creeping up on his face. "...But he has a point. It's good to work hard, in fact, it feels almost liberating how good that sense of accomplishment feels. But unlike us, you don't have a generator that can work endlessly for you. Once you run out of power, it's game over."
"What Eddie said. It's nice to see you trying your best for others, but you must remember to take some time off for yourself too. A chance to...*recharge*. Pun not quite intended."
Volt moves his arm from your shoulders to grab your right hand, and Eddie does the same with your left.
"In any case, live wire, we are always here for you."
"If you ever need to recharge, you can always come to the Breaker Box. Drinks are forever on the house for you."
And as though they were speaking with one mind, both finish with:
"And only for you."
With that, the three of you spend time in each other's presences, enjoying a leisurely, recharging time together.
