Summary
Hilda can only watch Claude mope for so long around the course before she takes him out for ice cream, which devolves into a full-blown gossip session. Over sundaes and milkshakes outside the kitschy ice cream shop attached to the golf course that they both work at, Claude tells Hilda about his now ex-girlfriend, Edelgard—a promising pre-law student who dumped his butt after six months of dating—and relocated to Garreg Mach University before the semester even started.
She sucks on the straw of her strawberry milkshake as Claude coyly recounts the very painful way that Edelgard broke up with him—her charming and cutting reason still fresh in his mind, “really Claude, if I want to make partner by 32, I have to stop playing around and focus on my career moves…”
Hilda’s lips, swollen from sucking on the straw, part and she says, ”Well, if you’re looking for some fun, I’d be more than happy to oblige.”
