Work Text:

Hitoshi stares in confusion at the set of keys and house listing sitting on the box coffee table in his apartment.

Katsuki and Tamaki both told him they had a surprise waiting for him.

"You have to follow the clues to find out where we are!" said Tamaki brightly over the phone, albeit shyer than he had been since they all got together a year ago.

"They're fuckin' obvious, so if you take longer than an hour to find us, I'm kicking your ass," grumbled Katsuki through the phone, and Hitoshi didn't have to see him to know he was glaring.

"Alright, I'll see you in a bit then. I'm heading home now," said Hitoshi as he headed for the edge of his agency's roof, his patrol finally over as the sky settled into a blue, the sun shining high in the sky.

That was twenty minutes ago, and Hitoshi is hesitant to approach the clues.

Keys, and a house listing paper.

He has an idea of what this might be, and it's scaring the fuck out of him.

They'd talked about maybe moving in together, but Hitoshi still isn't making enough money to help with more than apartment rent and groceries.

If they're expecting him to move into this house with them, he might have a breakdown.

Hitoshi approaches slowly because he's beyond ready to live with the two men he loves, especially considering they stay together almost every night, bouncing between apartments.

"This says rent, oh fuck… Did they find a house for the three of us to rent?!" exclaims Hitoshi loudly, uncaring at the way it slices through the startling silent apartment.

That's when it hits him.

Noodles hasn't come out to see him yet.

Hitoshi's head snaps to the side as he looks around and notices that his favorite chair is missing, along with the souvenirs and bookcase that Izuku helped him put together and their friends helped him fill over the years.

Brows furrowing, Hitoshi goes searching through the apartment and finds more things missing as he checks every single room leading to his bedroom at the end of the hall. But once he stops in front of his room, he finds a red note taped to it that says, "Your lease has been broken, you have two weeks to move out. Leave the keys inside."

There's not a litter box, no cat food or water bowls, no Noodles.

And when he pushes the door to his bedroom open, it's completely barren.

Even the bed-frame that he put together is gone.

The only thing left is a change of clothes and his hero costume go-bag.

"Did they seriously move me out of my apartment while I was patrolling?"

Hitoshi speaks the question into an empty apartment and tries to ignore the beat of butterfly wings in his stomach.

Hitoshi quickly changes into the clothes they left for him, carefully packing his things into his go-bag, then he slides the strap of the bag over his head and leaves the room, note lying on the air mattress box that the apartment owner had for when he moved in.

He heads out of the apartment, leaving the keys inside, and locking it before heading down the stairs. When Hitoshi reaches the apartment lobby, he finds Izuku leaning against the wall by the door, scrolling on his phone.

"Are you supposed to be my chauffer, Zu?" asks Hitoshi loudly to get the other hero's attention, and he grins when Izuku startles. "Are you taking me to see my partners since you obviously know what the surprise is?"

"I don't know what you mean," says Izuku with a cheeky grin as he shakes his head. "I'm supposed to take you wherever you want, but I don't know where you're supposed to go."

"Liar," snorts Hitoshi before he walks forward and hands over the rent listing paper. "That address would be where I would like to go, Zu."

"Great, Shouto and Hanta have the car running out front. Let's get you where you wanna go!" replies Izuku brightly as he takes the paper and heads out the door, holding it open for Hitoshi with a grin.

"They got all of you in on this… I'm gonna kill them before I kiss them," mutters Hitoshi before he follows him out, rolling his eyes at the chuckle that leaves Izuku as soon as they step outside. "Did you drag your partners into this, or did mine do it?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," says Izuku with a wave of his hand as he walks just in front of Hitoshi. "My babies and I decided we would do this together because you've had a rough week, and we know your car is in the shop!"

Hitoshi shakes his head and climbs into the car as soon as they reach it because he doesn't have the time to bother with any questions. He knows that the house isn't that far away, so when the music is already playing, and Shouto immediately starts showing him cute cat videos, Hitoshi knows they don't want to get subjected to his interrogation skills.

When the car stops, and the other three don't immediately move to get out, Hitoshi sighs.

"Alright, I'll head in here and have a chat with my partners. You three have a wonderful night," says Hitoshi as he smirks at them before climbing out, waving at their goodbyes.

He heads up to the house, taking in the light decor on the outside that he recognizes. There are some plants from Katsuki's garden that he had on his apartment balcony and the welcome mat that definitely came from Tamaki's place. Hitoshi tugs out the keys and unlocks the door as soon as he gets there, and then he pushes the door open, wiggling the key loose once he's able to step over the threshold.

"Surprise!"

"Toshi!"

Meow.

"Ah, so this is where you've been, Noodles," snorts Hitoshi as he gets the door shut and crouches down to pick up his cat. Then he looks at his partners, Tamaki is standing at the bottom of the stairs looking nervous as he plays with his sweater, meanwhile Katsuki's got a brow arched like he's daring Hitoshi to cause a problem. "As much as I love the surprise, we definitely need to talk about all of this."

"You definitely fuckin' love the surprise," huffs Katsuki with an eye roll.

"Do you really love it? We can talk, for sure! We figured we would have to, we just thought this was the best way to show this to you!" Tamaki is immediately trying to fix something that isn't a problem.

"I love it, of course, I do. And we do need to discuss everything that you did without talking to me, but that can wait. Show me our new home," says Hitoshi softly as he smiles at them, letting Noodles jump down when she wiggles in his arms.

He'll discuss his money worries with them later, and he knows they'll ease the worries without fail. For now, he's really excited to know that they don't ever have to be without each other or bounce places again.

They finally have a home.
