Man Flu

Summary:

John Walker is dying (No. No, he's not.).

Voidwalker Week Day 6: Sickfic

Work Text:

“I’m dying,” John’s voice was stuffed up and congested. He was in a nest of blankets. His complexion was pale, and his nose was red.

Yelena ran her hand over her face as she handed him extra box of tissues, “you’re not dying, Walker. It’s just a common cold. Stop being a baby.”

“Fucking serum,” he grumbled like a child, “I’m supposed to be immune to it.”

“Well, now you know what you got the shitty kind,” Ave appeared in John’s bedroom. She was wearing a white K-95 mask, looking like her Ghost mask.

“Great!” John complained as he threw his snot-filled tissues into the wastebasket next to his bed, “more people for the peanut gallery!”

“You know, I thought the advantages of you getting sick is that you would be quiet for once,” Yelena was checking the left nightstand to see if John was taking his medicine, “turns out to be worse.”

“I did tell him he wasn’t feeling well,” Bob walked in with a tray of crackers, soup, and glass of orange juice and set it down on the right nightstand, “but he kept pushing though.”

Yesterday, he was feeling lightheaded and snuffy. But being the arrogant son of a bitch that he is, he just kept powering through by more time in the training room until he fainted on one of the gym mats like a sack of potatoes. Bucky and Alexei carried his sick and sorry carcass to his bedroom to recover.

John planted his face against the pillow, “Bobby, I love you but I appreciate it if you don’t talk about me like I wasn’t even in the room,” he slurred.

“Who said that?” Yelena joked, turning her head around. Ava laughed.

The blonde turned around, his eyes glassy as his hand reached out to his boyfriend, “Bobby?”

Bob held onto his clammy hand and trying not reaction unkindly by the grossness of said hand, “Yes?”

“The love of my life- shut up!” They can hear Yelena and Ava snickering from behind, but John continued, “If I don’t make it, I want you to have my medals of honor.”

Puzzled, Bob pulled his hand away, “I don’t think that’s necessary- Ow!” One of the women just elbowed him hard.

“Hush,” Ava hissed near him.

“Yeah, let’s see how this goes,” Yelena whispered, “maybe we can get our hands on Walker’s vinyl collection.”
