Summary
Zayn has always been made painfully aware that he's not what his father wants, and when he becomes friends with Liam, an older lad from school, it crosses the line. But that horrible experience finally gives him an escape- from the cruelty and anger and rejection. Sometimes he wonders if he'll ever feel whole though, if he'll ever know or trust his own worth.
And it's hard to understand how Liam could really want him, care about him. Wonderful turns into a terrible, painful separation and Zayn reacts out of unbearable despair when Liam is preparing to leave for Uni, and Zayn must find his own strength, his own place of healing and confidence. That journey will not only bring him to a place where he discovers how much he really does have to offer, but also, to a place to be loved and love again.
Edit: a short, single burst has become much longer. Much more complicated, more elements of an alternative 1D, and a much longer, more complex trajectory for Zayn and Liam (Harry and Louis too, in the background). I have always been way too long-winded..
