Work Text:

Clock didn't always have nightmares, and they have become more infrequent as time has gone from that agonizing experience. That doesn't change the fact he still sometimes has nightmares, and he still ends up there. There in what could only be described as stuck in TV static, completely dark yet somehow not. Silent and dark, unmoving, even if he wanted to, except for his hands, ticking away the time. It's the only reason he knows how long he had been trapped there, irrelevant enough for no one to notice or care.

He knew Death P.A.C.T. cared about preventing death. If only they were there when Clock was killed. Maybe it could have been stopped. Maybe he wouldn't experience the nightmares at all. Maybe he wouldn't know the sensation of waiting to be recovered. The agony. But he cannot change the past, only looking to move forward. And, to do that, he was going to have to forget about the nightmare he just had. Somehow. But the nightmares have a habit of lingering for hours on end.

He walked out to the main living room section, not expecting to see anyone (considering it was 2:56 AM, no one should be awake), and pleasantly surprised to find Eraser and Lightning. The two of them were in the middle of an intense game of Mario Kart 64, Eraser giving Lightning a good beating. They were facing away from Clock, giving him an option to watch without them noticing.

"Haha!" Eraser chuckled, "You'll get me next time!"

Lightning sighed, "You've beaten me every time! I can't seem to get the hang of this game..."

"Eh, it might also have to do with the fact this was the game me and the boys played," Eraser suggested.

"I don't even know why you still believe in me," Lightning muttered, "I can't seem to do anything right."

Clock walked over, speaking and making his presence known, "That's not true. You're pretty good at comforting me after nightmares."

"H- how long have you been there?!" Eraser asked, shocked.

"Fourty-six seconds," Clock dead-panned, "Came out here to try to clear my head."

Lightning looked over sympathetic, he knew what Clock meant, "Was it the same as usual?"

"Yeah. Same void, same buzz, same everything. Even the same way it starts. Four killing me," Clock muttered, sitting down on the couch, "I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

"If it makes you feel any better, if anyone dares to try to kill you, I'll stop them!" Lightning wrapped his arm around Clock.

Clock smiled, "Thanks. Do you mind if I just watch you two play for a while?"

"Not at all!" the two stated, at the same time.

The rest of the night was peaceful, Clock watching Eraser and Lightning play Mario Kart 64 until the "sun" rose (there wasn't a proper sun, but you get the point) and everyone went about their day.
