Captain Janeway leaned back in her chair and crossed her legs. “So, what do you have for me today?”
Tuvok stood in front of her in her ready room, a model of perfect Starfleet posture. “I have two uniform violations, one inter-departmental transfer request, and one relationship status update.” He handed her a PADD for each item. “All of which have already been addressed.”
The captain barely glanced at the PADDs before setting them aside. “And?” she prompted.
Tuvok made a noise that, from anyone other than a Vulcan, would have been considered a sigh. “And one cup of chicory root coffee.” He placed the steaming mug her desk.
“Chicory?”
“An Earth plant,” he explained. “Caffeine-free and high in soluble fiber.”
She picked up the cup and sniffed. “Hm.” She took a small sip. “Not bad,” she hedged. “It’s better than that chai blend.”
“If it is acceptable to you, I have located a space in the hydroponics bay in which it can be grown,” Tuvok offered.
Janeway took another sip, then shook her head. “I’m sorry, but it’s just not as good as the real stuff.”
“I understand.” Tuvok took the mug from her. “I will continue my search.”
