Chapter Text

Sirius was asleep on the sofa when Remus came, a yelling and screaming child in his arms. This was not how the couple had envisioned their life to turn out.

Remus had been gone the whole day; there was a mess-up, and he had to leave. Though he had told Sirius it would only take a few minutes, he hadn't been back till 3 in the morning, carrying a child in his arms. Sirius groaned as he woke up from the screams of the child, whom Remus was trying desperately to calm. The kid had a bleeding scar on her cheek, which Remus was trying to heal.

Sirius sat up on the sofa and stared at his husband. "Rem… is that a—" Sirius was cut off by Remus. "Oh, you're awake. Didn't mean to wake you. She's a bit…"

Sirius immediately came to Remus. "Oh. "Wait, let me get the first aid," Sirius said, his voice deep from sleep. He r ushed to the cupboard and grabbed the first aid. "Hold her up," Sirius said before slowly putting dittany against the wound against her cheek. Potions or magic are risky to try on children, especially those under the age of 2.

"Shh," Remus whispered as Sirius tended to the wound. "There we go…" He mumbled and then finally met Remus' eyes. "I'm going to put her to bed," Rus said. Sirius just nodded in response.

He came back looking more tired than he did when he came. Sirius was seated on the sofa, staring at the off TV.

Remus sat down, letting out a sigh as he did so. "So… are you going to explain?" Sirius turned to face him. "I—well... sorry about being late…" Remus mumbled. Sirius let out a sigh. "You know what I'm asking about, Remus." Sirius says seriously (no pun intended).

"Well, her... I found her; she was bitten by an attack in the neighboring town..." Remus said quietly. Sirius hummed in response. "So she's a werewolf?" he asked. Remus could see the frown wrinkle forming between his eyebrows, which he had the urge to smooth. He resisted.

"Yes, her parents… didn't survive." He said, "And you just took her?" Sirius asked, concerned, "Well, yeah, they were going to put her in an orphanage or worse. I know it was impulsive. But I couldn't leave her. Sorry" Remus said Sirius immediately turned and said, "No, I think it was a great idea. What's her name?" Sirius asked, and Remus shrugged, "No idea." Sirius immediately lit up. "Can we name her?" Sirius asked, looking way too happy about it.

"Yah? Sure, I guess we'll have to call her something other than just her." Remus mumbled, "I know a name. I mean its well..…" Sirius mumbled, "What?" Rem asked, "Calytrix." Sirius mumbled, "The flower? … the star flower," Remus said, smirking, to which Sirius nodded. "It's good, isn't it? We can call her Trixie!" Sirius jumped, looking like an excited puppy. "Yah, I like it, Calytrix Lupin," Remus mumbled. Sirius looked so damn excited, and that gloom was probably mirrored in Remus' face.
