She was angry at him. Logically, of course. Technically, Bones’ dating habits were none of his business and he had just scared off her latest boyfriend.
“What is your problem?”
She looked at him, exasperated and expecting an answer.
Of course Booth has a problem with Bones’ boyfriend, because that’s his girl. But she isn’t, not really. Not yet, and maybe not ever. Besides, the whole possessive caveman act would do him no favors.
And apparently, nor would the deer-in-the-headlights. But God help him, she’s cute when she’s angry.
“Well? I’m waiting. What do you have to say for yourself?”
He chose his next words carefully, knowing that they would still be inadequate.
“Come on Bones, if that’s all it took, is he really cut out to be your boyfriend?”
She gave him a thoroughly unimpressed look.
“You’re unbelievable, really.”
She pinched the bridge of her nose and took a calming breath before saying, “By the time I get back, you had better have a real apology.”
She took a few steps towards the door, ready to chase after her now ex-boyfriend, as of two minutes ago. “And make it a good one.” She shouted as the door slammed behind her.
