TATSUMI RESIDENCE
Oh, um... How did you get here?
That's the first thing that you think when you open your eyes. You passed out in the aquarium, presumably from stress, and now you're in someone's room. You sit up, the smell of food hitting your senses almost immediately. You jump out of the (very comfortable) bed and rush out of the room, seeing Kanji Tatsumi talking on the phone while he cooks.
"Yeah, he passed out while we were on our way home from school," Kanji says casually. He's probably talking to your mom. "He's been staying with me for the past few days. Nothing huge."
You sigh, going up to him and tapping his shoulder. He immediately turns to you, and a smile breaks out on his face.
"He just woke up. Gonna let you go now, 'kay? I'll make sure he gets home to you tonight." You have a feeling that last part's a lie.
He hangs up, before turning off the stove and pulling you into his arms. "You had me worried sick," He murmurs.
"Sorry, love," you mumble into his chest. He tightens his hold on you when you say that word.
"It's fine, dear," he chuckles. You can feel him smiling against your hair.
Your cheeks heat up. "What did you make for lunch?"
He pulls away. "Oh, nothin' special. Just some beef udon."
You immediately smile. "You know that's my favorite, right?"
He laughs, putting the udon into bowls. "Yeah, yeah. Go sit down at the table, I'll be there in a second."
The two of you share a meal, laughing and talking about whatever comes to mind.
"So, what was that thing back in the aquarium?" You ask.
"They're called Shadows. That one that looked like you is your Shadow Self."
"Oh." You look down, feeling a bit embarrassed by how you acted during the fight. "I'm sorry that I didn't help."
"Hey, it's okay," he says quickly. "You were freaking out, and I get that. I was freaking out when I was dealing with my Shadow. We all panic the first time."
You look at him again, trying to process that. Kanji Tatsumi, freaking out. Sounds... a bit familiar, actually.
You smile. "Thanks, Kanji."
"No problem," he responds, smiling back.
After you eat, Kanji reluctantly walks you to your house. When you open the door, you're met with an empty living room. Your parents must've left again.
You sigh, waving goodbye to Kanji and closing the door. You walk up to your bedroom, get changed into pajamas, and flop onto the bed. You fall asleep in minutes.
