Chapter Text
FURINA DE FONTAINE FOUND DEAD!
Furina de Fontaine, the former archon of Fontaine, was found dead in her apartment late last night in an apparent suicide, just a week after her birthday.
The Maison Gardiennage reported that she was pronounced dead in her home after authorities responded to a call around midnight. The Marechaussee Phantom is now investigating the true nature of the death of the former Hydro archon.
Monsieur Neuvillette, speaking on behalf of the Palais Mermomia, has requested that the media respect Ms. Furina’s legacy and refrain from baseless rumors and speculations.
Once believed to be the Hydro Archon, it was revealed in a recently concluded trial that Ms. Furina had played a 500-year act, during which she had maintained the guise of the Archon, deceiving the citizens of Fontaine.
After the trial, Ms. Furina vacated her residence in the Palais Mermomia and had since stayed away from the public limelight. Her last public appearance was an onstage performance where the show culminated in her receiving her very own Hydro vision.
Ms. Furina’s body has been moved to the coroner’s office for an autopsy, the result of which will be released in the upcoming days. While the cause of death is still uncertain, Garde investigators commented that there were no apparent signs of break-ins or criminal intent.
As the nation mourned the loss of its once beloved celebrity, Steambird reporter Charlotte-
She put the paper aside, the flowery words of a parasite interested her very little; only one thing was certain now:
Furina de Fontaine was dead.
For a moment, she took in her surroundings, soaking in the noise of the evening rush in the port and the faint but distinct rush of water as it flowed from Fontaine onto the rest of Teyvat. In the distance, a ship’s horn was blowing its final call before it left harbour: the last boat out of Romaritime Harbour for that day.
The woman in the trench coat stood up and made her way onboard, looking back one last time at the nation that had been her home for more than 500 years.
Furina might be dead, but Audrey Beaufort’s journey was just about to start.
