Summary
II is a respected professor of science at Cambridge University. So what if not all of his students seem to make it to graduation? That’s hardly his fault. Well… not entirely.
The real problem is Vessel, II’s greatest scientific achievement, a human-spider hybrid with cannibalistic mating tendencies and a need to breed. Every semester, II lures home a promising student to serve as Vessel’s next reproductive host, but it always seems to fail.
