Sleep.
Who knew it was so important?
Certainly not this half timelord, half human.
He only slept for a few hours a week, that was his normal. Now that he is part human, exhaustion came quicker than he expected.
Rose and him have been giving each other space, she needed time to collect her thoughts and he needed time to understand this new body.
Being a timelord was easy, because half a timelord was a learning curve.
So, here he was, roaming the Tyler's mansion as a way to keep his mind busy. He was exhausted but he wasn't going to surrender that easily.
"Doctor?"
A light voice came from behind him, he turned around to see Rose in her pink pajamas and tossed blonde hair. The woman was holding on to the side of the door, looking at him with her soft doe eyes he could get lost in.
"Hm?" He responded, hands in his pockets. He didn't want to scare her off.
"What are you doing?"
"Uh. Good question."
The blonde huffed a laugh, "are you lost or somethin'?"
He looked side to side, "no, I don't believe I am." He stepped forward, "Did I uh, wake you? I didn't mean to-"
Rose shook her head, "'course not. It's 1am, why aren't you asleep?"
He shrugged, "no reason, really. This new body is difficult to navigate."
Rose was quiet for a second, "are you lonely?"
He sputtered, "wha- nonono, definitely not! How can I be when I have so many—" he quickly looked around, making the girl giggle. A sound he didn't know he missed so badly.
Rose gently took his hand into her own, "cmon."
The Doctor immediately felt a warmth flush his cheeks, "oh, uh, I don't know about that—"
The woman rolled her eyes and yanked him into her room. It wasn't like the one in the other universe, it definitely had more space than the other room, he observed. There wasn't much furniture compared to the rest of house, most of it was rushed due to other universe Jackie and Pete not expecting a daughter. He did notice the bed, it was a simple with white and pink sheets that was plastered with bundles of flowers. It was so Rose.
A noise knocked him from his thoughts, it was Rose sitting on the side of the bed, tapping the spot beside her. The Doctor followed her command, it was almost impossible not to.
Now, here he was, sitting next to Rose Tyler on her bed. Things couldn't get more awkward.
Rose must've sensed his tension as she placed her hand gently on top of his. He couldn't help but stare at their hands, it felt silly, they kissed on the beach, held hands when he was his other self, this wasn't unusual. For some reason this familiar feeling felt so electrifying. His eyes traced up to her face, that beautiful face. Rose had a soft smile, her eyes inviting.
Before he knew it Rose scooted her body on the bed, slipping into one side of the bed easily.
"Cmon, you gotta be tired. Everyone has to sleep."
He couldn't help but notice the heat on his face and cursed himself mentally for making this a big deal.
As she asked, he slowly moved to the other side of the bed, gently positioning himself beside her.
Rose shifted on her side, facing him and he did the same. Now he was staring into those beautiful brown eyes that he adored. Galaxies couldn't compare to her eyes. Every delicate feature of her face was lit by moonlight, he didn't think this woman could be more beautiful than she was.
Well, Rose Tyler always did prove him wrong.
Softly he placed his hand on her cheek, feeling her smooth skin under his. She was perfect.
Rose closed her eyes and hummed lightly at the gesture. She looked safe, comfortable.
Before he could get his mind back, Rose moved closer, leaning her head against his chest with her arms wrapped around him. He froze for a moment, stiff.
"You're not gonna break me, alright?" Rose mumbled, giving him reassurance that he didnt know he needed.
He decided to follow through, moving his hand to her waist and pressed his body towards her. They fit together like a puzzle, it was perfect.
If heaven existed this was it and it was in his arms.
He listened to her breathing as it slowed into deep, slow breaths. He began to stroke her hair, feeling the different pieces in his hand. He couldn't believe he had Rose Tyler in his arms.
It was all perfect, beyond perfect. Fantastic.
He was finally ready to allow sleep to take him, bathing in the comfort of this beautiful woman.
