A darling of the ton wonders if beauty is enough and if Baron Fortis has anything to say about it, he’ll do so with perfect posture and legendary jawline. A modest young guest, all lilac ribbons and lowered lashes, proves far cleverer than society gives her credit for. And a newcomer with violet eyes might just steal more than a dance.

    Of course, not all masks are worn at masquerades. And some guardians, no matter how polished, hide motives darker than spilled ink.

    After all, in Altus, a charming smile can mask a thief, a ribbon may bind more than hair and reputations, like teacups, shatter ever so easily.
