Work Text:
It was a rainy day and there was nothing to do. Wong was taking care of mystical issues, the police were able to handle the city's criminals, and there were no pressing Avengers-level threats. So Tony, Stephen, and Peter were cooped up in the Sanctum doing their own things. Peter was on a Discord call with his friends, Tony was watching TV, and Stephen was reading and drinking his tea.
Stephen and Peter were interrupted by Tony calling them into the kitchen. He had made grilled cheese for lunch. The three ate together in peaceful silence before Tony spoke up. "Guess we're having a lazy day here, the three of us."
"Not much to do," Peter said in between bites.
Tony smirked. "I have an idea. I need to make a quick stop, but I'll be right back."
This caught the attention of Stephen, who was quietly eating his sandwich. A quick stop? I could always portal him there. But as if Tony read Stephen's mind, he walked out of the Sanctum before the sorcerer could ask where he was going.
Tony returned after a while, a tote bag in hand. Stephen looked at it curiously, while Peter ran up to see what was in it. "Woah there, Spiderling," Tony chuckled. "Let me at least get through the doorway first." Tony made his way to the kitchen table where he put down the tote bag, revealing a bunch of board and card games. "Brought these back from an old Avengers storage unit. Thought they'd need some more love."
Peter and Stephen looked at the games. There were classics like Monopoly and Clue, simple card games like Uno, and some sillier games like Cards Against Humanity and What Do You Meme. There were also some games themed around popular movies and TV shows from the past fifteen or so years.
"Big Bang Theory Trivia?!" Peter wrinkled his nose. "Who ordered that?"
"Clint did," Tony replied. "Bruce hated the show and we played the game to annoy him."
Stephen smiled as he looked at the games. "I remember playing Battleship and Operation as a kid."
Soon, the actual game night began. It started with Jenga, which Peter won. Tony teased him about using web fluid to cheat, but everyone knew Peter would never think of cheating. Next was Mouse Trap. Stephen won that game. But everyone knew that the best part was watching Tony engineer the moving parts of the game. Next was a game of What Do You Meme, which Peter won, of course. Tony was starting to get sick of losing.
"What's wrong?" Peter teased Tony. "The Invincible Iron Man is a sore loser?" Stephen chuckled at the comment.
"I know what Tony will win at..." Stephen smiled.
The game that put Tony on the board was Cards Against Humanity. Peter was old enough to play; MJ had gotten him into the game. Stephen knew that nobody, not even him, could out-sass the Tony Stark. The family played board games until dinner, and then some after. They only stopped once Peter started to get tired and went to bed.
They next day was beautiful, and the family did some outdoor activities. Then, the responsibilities of school, work, and superhero life showed themselves once more. But the family knew that whenever it was a boring, yucky day, they had a tote full of games to pass the time and make memories with.
