Chapter Text
Obi-Wan had been pining over Cody Fett since the family moved into the town.
Cody was fairly certain, that cody liked Obi-Wan as well, and yet, nothing had happened between them.
“I have been watching them flirt for over a year now.” He muttered to Satine, who didn’t look away from her books, “I don’t think I can take it for much longer.”
“Clearly you haven’t heard the rumours.” Satine hummed, “Cody Fett and his brothers can’t date, unless all of them are dating.”
“So?”
“…Fox Fett doesn’t want to date anyone.”
Quinlan had heard the rumours that circled the youngest Fett brother. There had been some sort of scandal at their previous school, and whatever it was had left Fox as a reclusive, and his brother very protective of him.
Nobody could get close enough to even think about asking him out.
“We’re doomed to watch this back and forth forever.” Quinlan groaned, “Satine, what are we going to do?” He dramatically sprawled himself over the chairs opposite the girl, one arm over his eyes as he patiently waited for an answer.
“Don’t watch? Maybe study for our exams and take your mind off of it.”
Quinlan blew a raspberry.
“Very mature.”
“Thanks.”
Silence fell over them, before Quinlan spoke up again, “Do you think I could get Fox to date someone?”
“Unlikely. I’ve heard he can be very cutting.”
“Some people like that.”
“Not many.”
“…Which way does he swing?”
Satine looked up at him, one eyebrow delicately raised, “I don’t know everything you know.”
“You know most things.”
“Not this.”
Quinlan huffed, looking up at the ceiling, before he beamed, suddenly jumping to his feet and clapping his hands together, making Satine jump a little. “I’ve got it…I’ll charm Fox, we’ll date and then Obi-Wan and Cody can finally get their acts together and ask each other out!”
“So, you’re going to string someone along, just because you can’t watch Obi-Wan’s flirting anymore."
"You make it sound terrible.”
Slamming her book shut, Satine got to her feet, a vicious glare on her face that took Quinlan a little by surprise.
“You are talking about leading Fox on. I am not going to be a part of it, and I hope he shuts you down hard.” She then smirked, leaning in closer, “And then I hope his brothers find out what you’re planning.”
Grabbing her books, she stormed away, and Quinlan felt a shudder run up and down his spine.
He looked around, unable to shake the feeling that he was being watched, before rushing out of the library.
…
“Fox is certainly…attractive.” Obi-Wan looked a little confused by the subject matter, but seemed willing to entertain Quinlan, “But then again, all the Fett brothers are.”
“Yeah but…Fox is cuter than all of them.”
“Oh?”
“…Have you seen that curly hair? It’s cute!”
Obi-Wan was starting to look a little suspicious now, looking over towards the opposite side of the field, where he could see all the brothers sitting underneath a giant oak tree, Fox resting with his back against the trunk, reading a book.
“I suppose.” He finally answered.
The seed was planted.
The next stage could begin.
….
Quinlan had to wait for a week before he finally managed to catch Fox alone, the other student packing up his books, alone on the field.
“Hey Fox! How are you doing?”
Fox let out an annoyed sigh, one that Quinlan usually heard from Obi-Wan when he was being particularly annoying…not when he had barely said anything.
“Harsh.” He teased, “Anyone would think that you didn’t want me here?”
“I don’t.” Fox replied dryly, rolling his eyes and walking away.
Quinlan had to job to keep up with the long strides.
“So…I’ll pick you up on Friday?”
“Piss off.”
…
Obi-Wan watched as Quinlan chased after Fox, looking at his other friends. “I have a bad feeling about this.”
“We all do Obi.” Bant sighed, “We all do.”
….
Fox hummed as he left the cafe, sipping at his drink when a voice interrupted him.
“You know, I think that’s your fifth coffee of the day.”
Quinlan Vos.
The, as of recent events, bane of Fox’s existence. A nuisance, no matter how handsome he was. A pain in the ass.
“Are you stalking me?” He snapped.
“I was in the area, saw you pop in and figured I’d come over to say hello.”
“Then say it and leave.”
“Not a big talker, huh?”
Fox just glared at him, until Quinlan pouted.
“I get the feeling you don’t like me.”
Fox scoffed, “I don’t.”
“You don’t know me enough not to like me.”
“And yet, here we are.”
There was a brief pause, before a frankly wicked look appeared on Quinlan’s face, where Fox just about managed to resist taking a step back.
“If you already don’t like me this much...you must have been thinking about me a lot already? Can’t get me out of your mind Foxy?”
“You- “
A car beeped nearby, prompting them both to turn.
“Wolffe.” Fox sighed in relief, rushing over to his brothers’ car and getting into the passenger seat, ignoring Quinlan as Wolffe pulled away.
“Was he bothering you?”
“No.”
“Looked like it.”
“I can take care of myself!”
Wolffe huffed at the snap, but didn’t pursue it any further.
…
“You’ve been speaking to Fox.” Were the first words that Obi-Wan said the next Monday, meting him by his locker.
“Yeah…and?”
Obi-Wan just shook his head, “I hope yoy know what you’re doing.” He ran his fingers through his hair nervously, before taking a deep breath, “Look…Kit is throwing a party on Friday night. You didn’t here it from me, but maybe Fox would like to go to that?” He shrugged, “It’s unlikely, but you never know.”
It was a little bit ironic that Obi-Wan was trying to help with his love life like this, when Quinlan had started this with the intention of helping him with his.
“Thanks mate, I’ll think about it.”
….
“Your friend is suddenly keen on Fox.”
“I can get him to stop?” Obi-Wan asked a little uncertainly as Cody shook his head slowly,
“The fact that he hasn’t set one of us on him, tells me that Fox doesn’t mind that much. Maybe, we should just see how it goes.”
Obi-Wan was tempted to ask for some tips to help Quinlan, but figured that that probably wouldn’t help.
“He likes animals and coffee.” Cody volunteered with a sigh, “But you didn’t hear it from me.”
“Of course.”
