Chapter Text
Ajax:
Ajax was broken. From the time he fell into the Abyss, he knew he had shattered. He filled the cracks with abyssal energy, trying desperately to fit his pieces back together. Skirk taught him how to use the powers within him, to seal the cracks into something close to what was once human.
When he emerged three months later, there was a hole within him that could not be filled, a hunger to fix the part of him that the Abyss stole.
The abyss within him craved bloodshed, and at first, he could satiate the Hunger within with simple schoolyard fights. His parents never looked at him the same after that, and a month after his first fight, his father sold him off to the Fatui.
He fought back, knocking several soldiers unconscious. He refused to be separated from his siblings.
Taking down the Fatui fed the abyss within him, and after being calmed down, joining sounded pretty fun.
Staying at the training center with the other new recruits, he worked hard every day. A week later, when walking into the library to find some books on weapons, he saw a boy with perfectly combed blond hair, fluffy at the sides, walking over. Beautiful maroon eyes stared back at him. Ajax hadn't fought today, and yet the hunger within him settled.
The boy smiled at him, and a warmth engulfed his chest. The feeling was unfamiliar, and yet he craved more of it.
The boy’s voice was just as perfect as the rest of him. Ajax smiled as his voice rang through his ears.
“Hello! Do you need something? I'm Kaveh. Do you want to be friends? Sorry if I'm talking too much…”
Wow, even his name is lovely. How can something so perfect be? And how can something so perfect want to be friends with something as broken as Ajax? Kaveh will leave him eventually, but for now, there's nothing wrong with indulging in this warmth.
“Sure! We can be friends, I’m Ajax, your name is really pretty!”
He sits next to Kaveh, looking over at the book in the boys' hands. Strange words that are too long to understand litter the pages, and numbers next to letters appear in what seems to be some kind of twisted math equation… Kaveh seems to understand what it all means, but Ajax is just confused…
“What are you reading?”
Kaveh goes on to explain something about structural integrity and the physics and mechanics of machines? (Ajax has no idea what Kaveh is saying, but it seems that Kaveh is as smart as he is beautiful.)
They talked for hours, Ajax was just happy to be in the presence of something as divine as Kaveh, the abyss within him content.
