Work Text:
It's late at night. Front Dorian is standing guard as usual despite you being out of the house. You had promised him that you'd be home at a reasonable time, yet as the clock ticked by he only felt more and more worried. It irked him, made dread set deep into his veins. You were important to Dorian, so how could he not worry so much about you? He was never one for doubt but those thoughts plagued him. Were you lost or in trouble? Did you get into an accident?
Dorian had hoped that each car that passed that those headlights would be yours, but as they passed him by it only disappointed him more and more. He remained outside, under the orange glow of the light above him. Dorian took his hat off and clutched it, heart aching so much that he didn't know what to do with himself. A sigh left his nose as the doubts got the better of him. Maybe he wasn't as good as he thought with protecting you. Dorian turned around to enter the house in hopes of quelling the ache of you gone, but there was the sound of a car pulling into the drive.
All the worry washed away as he saw the car turn off, the headlights with it, and the familiar jingle of keys. He put his hat back on and looked presentable before you made it to the door.
“Hello,” Dorian smiles at you but his face softens. “You're late. I was worried about you.”
“Dorian,” you speak softly and your shoulders relax. “You don't need to worry about me—”
Dorian drags you into a tight hug. He let his professional guard and all things strict and icy just wash away. You hugged him back, arms around his neck.
“I was so worried about you, love.”
“I'm here now.”
“Please don't go anywhere."
