Chapter one - the arrival
The contestants stood on the dock all twenty two had their eyes on Chris although they all had differing looks and emotions. Owen’s eyes shone with an enthusiastic energy. Heather was scowling, clearly angry about the switch up between the five star hotel and the run down camp. Duncan looked at Chris with an unnerving blankness that showed none of his thoughts.
After a pause long enough to make everyone mildly uncomfortable Chris turned to fully face the group of assembled contestants and grinned maniacally making a few of the teens shift uncomfortably; Cody looked vaguely terrified.
Then Chris spoke voice upbeat and even more animated than usual “welcome to total drama island where you will be spending the next eight weeks right here at camp Wawanakwa competing in challenges for your chance to win TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS”
The contestants' moods shifted even Heather became more excited and joyful everyone thinking of the prize money.
That’s when Chris spoke once more “I have a surprise for you all please welcome our surprise contestant Harry Potter”
An attractive teen with fluffy shoulder length hair, a soft aristocratic face and bright green eyes framed with round black glasses stepped off the yacht and gave Chris a hug not a death grip like Owen nor a hug that was awkward but a soft familial hug.
Harry spoke, his voice soft and slightly nervous sounding his clear English accent differentiating him even more from the other contestants “hey Chris glad to see you again you look a lot better. Lighter.”
Chris smiled not maniacal but genuine it made him look younger, more real almost.
Chris then faced the original twenty two contestants “since we have uneven numbers Harry will be joining the first team to have a team mate eliminated in the mean time you will be split into two teams for the challenges”
Now we’re going to take a group photo in a couple minutes in the meantime interact but remember these people could be your rivals. With that note Chris walked towards a large cabin in the centre of the camp.
Harry was the first to move he walked towards the contestants stopping in front of Duncan “Hi I’m Harry nice to meet you”
The other contestants stood still, the air thick with anticipation. They were all slightly worried for Harry. He seemed so sweet. And the boy he’d just approached according to Chris and as was evident from Duncan’s behaviour had just come from juvie and was very rough in behaviour and attitude.
To their surprise Duncan smiled and spoke voice kinder than before “hey gorgeous it’s nice to meet you too I’m Duncan”
A faint blush rose on Harry’s tan skin as he registered what Duncan had said. Bridgette decided to save the boy some awkwardness and introduced herself. One by one the other contestants introduced themselves to Harry as well. Heather and Ezekiel both largely ignored what was going on Heather did give her name but that was it.
Chris returned with a camera and told everyone to arrange themselves at the end of the dock Harry ended up in the back mostly hidden due to his shorter stature next to him stood Duncan who noticed how hidden harry was and spoke up “do you want me to lift you up so you can be seen a bit better?” He questioned.
Harry looked mildly startled, obviously not expecting someone to notice how he was blocked from view by Tyler and Justin but agreed.
Duncan picked him up, hoisting him onto his shoulders. Harry not entirely expecting that let out a squawk of surprise as he tried to remain balanced hands eventually resting lightly on Duncan’s head which made Duncan grin and Chris let out a barking laugh.
Chris who was standing on the yacht to take the photo clapped his hands bringing attention back to him “ok everyone photo time! Smile and say Wawanakwa!”
Suddenly the dock collapsed sending the contestants plummeting into the lake with Harry who had fallen off Duncan’s shoulders in the commotion giggled eyes showing clear delight was the first to recover and begin swimming to shore.
Now the campers were back on shore and dry Chris gave everyone the run down “ok campers! Time for cabin assignments Bridgette, Courtney, DJ, Eva, Ezekiel, Geoff, Harold, Izzy, Sadie, Tyler and Duncan your team one the killer bass”
“everyone else your the screaming gophers now cabin arrangements are simple each team has a cabin the cabins are split in two with separate doors those are the girls side and the boys side additional things to note all common areas have cameras everywhere else is private with no cameras unless there is a challenge there that day finally there is a confession room in the outhouse near the cabins that has a camera you can say anything without your teammates or rivals knowledge anything goes thoughts feelings rants juicy drama any questions”
Lindsay raised her hand “yes Lindsay?” Chris said, voice tinged with annoyance already expecting a ridiculous question.
“What about bathrooms?” Good question Lindsay Chris responded mildly surprised “there is a communal bathroom split down the middle one side for boys one for girls”
“But what if I’m not Christian” Lindsay asked confused
Everyone stared at her in stunned silence, utter disbelief and confusion written all over their faces. Chris sighed there was the idiocy he’d expected after seeing the blonde teens audition tape.
After a pause Courtney spoke up “Chris said communal not communion” Lindsay stared blankly before Gwen sighed dramatically and responded “it means we share showers dummy”
Lindsay stood mouth agape, eyes widened with horror “but my hair iron where do I plug it in?!” “You don’t” Chris responded a bit harshly She looked ready to cry, luckily Duncan interrupted with another question “where is he going to sleep before he gets a team” he said pointing at Harry “because I vote he sleeps near me. Preferably next to me” he said with a small smirk in Harry’s direction.
Harry blushed at Duncan’s comment, his entire face feeling hot.
Chris, annoyed at the mostly irrelevant question that frankly had far too much teenage romantic tension for his under-caffeinated overtired mind, responded in a harsh and exasperated tone that Harry would be staying up at the main house where he was until after the first task and the eliminations.
“Any final questions?” Chris asked suddenly back to his normal excited self “no then…”
Suddenly Geoff spoke up “Are there any chaperones?”
Chris looked taken aback but managed to respond fairly quickly “You’re all sixteen the age of councillors in training at a normal summer camp I’m sure you’ll be fine with just me around”
This statement had varying reactions from the contestants; most seemed unbothered or even pleased (Duncan and Geoff looked especially pleased) and others (Courtney) looked rather displeased as though the idea of being unchaperoned was equivalent to being asked to murder their grandmother.
