First off, some context for language I'll be using in this fic:

Mature = Adult
Juvenile = Teen
Pup = Child

Secondary Gender Hormone Cycles:

In this world, mature betas also have heats/ruts, not just alphas and omegas. However, a beta's heat/rut is closer in terms of behaviour to nesting fever or baby fever than your standard description of a heat or rut. Additionally, juvenile alphas and omegas do have milder ruts/heats, but juvenile betas do not. They're kinda like periods like that, which, those are still a thing in my omegaverse. Pups, of course, do not have any sort of cycle. Furthermore, whether a particular beta calls their hormonal cycle's peak a heat or a rut is almost entirely personal choice, but will of course be influenced by their social climate. Spamton and Tenna both call their cycle's peak a rut, which is due to their shared tendency to posture as alphas in public for fear of humiliation or being ignored.

Character Secondary Gender Assignment Rationale:

(I'm just doing this because I think everyone should hear my rationale. I'm very proud of it.)
Kris is a beta, as I feel like, between humans and monsters, humans would have a majority beta population, whereas monsters have a more balanced population between the three secondary genders.
Ralsei is an alpha primarily because I said so. I think it's so cool when the character who is the "big softie" happens to also occupy a role where that role and their personality clash. I personally believe Ralsei is fully capable of being the "strict, bossy alpha Prince of Darkners" if he has to, he just doesn't like to, instead hiding behind his percieved omega status, which he can and will pull over people's eyes so that they underestimate him. Also, I feel that his status as both Prince of the Dark World and an alpha strengthens his magic, and I like to think he's holding back, and specifically holding back a shit fucking ton, which would honestly be so based of him. Anyways, can you guys tell how much I think about Alpha Ralsei? :3
Susie is an alpha. And I know exactly how stereotypical of me that seems. Trust me, I am aware this makes me look kinda shitty. However I believe my rationale is sound and will at least make sense even if you don't agree. My rationale is that alphas often have that whole "softie underneath a hard exterior" thing going on, and that is honestly a perfect description of Susie, and we can see that by literally the end of the first chapter if you take the mercy route. All that care, first for Lancer, and later for Noelle, Ralsei, Kris, and Tenna, and the aggressive way she feels she has to cover it up, is extremely alpha behaviour to me, which is the real reason I made Susie an alpha. That and I like the idea of someone giving Ralsei trouble and him threatening to sic his fellow alpha on them. X3
Tenna and Spamton are both betas because I thought a beta for beta relationship where both parties are incredibly insecure, needy, self-centered liars would be incredibly interesting to poke around with.
Rouxls gets to be both an alpha and an omega in this, although I do end up settling on one over the other (I will not be sharing which at this time though X3 You'll just have to wait and see X3 ). I experimented with alpha Rouxls because no one I've seen really explores the more strongly mothering side of either the alpha role or Rouxls Kaard, and I decided I wanted to kill two birds with one stone! And it turns out alpha Rouxls is really fun to write! I also toyed with omega Rouxls because of the "pathetic wet cat twink is the omega" trope, and honestly it fits him way too well. So that's also very fun to write! Overall, I think I had the most fun with Rouxls in this, not gonna lie.
