I took Hanahaki and soulmate tattoos and smushed them together. You get the tattoos when you form a connection with someone, but if you don't say anything, they grow into actual plants under your skin. Lucanis is the king of emotional repression and it causes him a lot of problems <3

Lucanis laughs, startled.
"What?"
"You know!" they say, smiling now, "That one fork from the old silverware set that Caterina refuses to get rid of? It doesn't match the others?"
"Yes? You feel like that fork?" Lucanis says, incredulous, holding back laughter.
"Yeah!" They giggle, interrupting themselves for a moment. "Like, it's useful, but it doesn't belong with the others, you know? Feels like that, sometimes."
"Ferro," Lucanis says, trying very hard to keep a straight face, "that's very… but why the fork?"

Based on a kink meme prompt (abridged): Thorin (accidentally) buries Bilbo alive under gold
Once the battle is over and Bilbo rescued, Thorin wishes to make amends. But others have set their eyes on the riches in the mountain, dwarven nobles would rather see Dain on the throne of Erebor, Thranduil has concerns due to the dragon sickness and Bard worries about oncoming winter. Dues have to be paid and the affair around the Arkenstone resolved.
Making amends is not easy in a surrounding ripe with intrigues,trauma and murder attempts.
